If we had not changed the working government and replace them with this incompetent bunch of worthless ........ Our new general hospital would have been competed by now. We would have no problems in recieving the patients from St Jude.

What is politics? As if politics is such a dirty word, if there is no politics, we would have no government to ran the country to do all the good things we all need to be done, for us to servive. I was just speaking the truth. the people is dead, we are VERY, VERY SORRY for that, but life goes on. Now politics come into the picture because the politicians have to help the situation. Son we must stop being hiprocrites and face reality.

With all the talk of a general hospital I think it would serve st lucia well if the Dennery and the Soufriere hospital be rehabilitated. Why are the patients not placed in theses facilities instead of the school. That's the kind of things we should be looking at instead of playing politics.

As the article points out, the importance of a good hospital in the south is underlined by this - as far as I know, neither party has addressed this issue prior to the fire...and politics and government are two entirely different things: St. Lucia suffers because we have WAY too much politics and then there's so little time, energy or thought left to the actual government!
Lets see how well our government & opposition manage to handle this tragedy and whether people can set aside politics and play their part in the rebuilding - no matter who's in charge - for the good of St. Lucia in all her colours.

It is very sad news that three people lost their life through the fire of st judes.
Surely the hospital was insured for fire etc, so the money will be there to rebuild st judes,or build from scratch and hopefully they will include fire alarms and a sprinkler system to advert such a disaster repeating its self.It is vital the south has a hospital for the local people and the airport.
St Lucia will rise from this disaster.

Actually the hospital wasn't insured. Go figure!

the fire department should be blame for their incompetence

You get your facts straight because the new general hospital only started in Feb. 2009 was kenny in Power then??. You'll talk so much crap everything is politics. For those who blame the fire service.... you'll should blame the Government for not giving them enough man power and enough engines. then you have a hospital without exits and fire alarms etc.

I was very distress to hear about this sad news as I once worked as a Staff Nurse in St Judes hospital till 1987.This ia a tradegy for the people in the south. All the negative talk from the people of St Lucia is sad. The government and the people need to work together to achieve a safer building and increase quality of care and services. Now is the time to stop the blaming culture, leave politics out and ensure that fire alarms, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers and yearly checks are made on electric equipments. My heart goes out to the nurses on the ward.My sister is the head nurse on the surgical ward, keep the moral of the nurses up and ensure that counselling is given to the nurses and the patients. God bless St Lucia

The new hospital was started by the slp, and would have finished by now if the government was not changed. It just had to be continued by this incompetent government, get your facts straight.

I wonder if Kenny was there if he would have prevented this mishap.Everybody wanna blame our current goverment officials.Everything took a down- hill fall back in 1997.i remember well i was still at SALCC.He came from Trinidad with his i know it all attidude. Believe or not they(current Gogernment) are trying their best to fix the nayham that the Island is facing. This is not about politics,i only mention it because someone said "If we had not changed the working government and replace them with this incompetent bunch of worthless ........ Our new general hospital would have been competed by now. We would have no problems in recieving the patients from St Jude". It's about the country coming together in anyway possible to help and for once leave politics out.SLP had disrupted every thing the goverment has done,is doing from staging strikes with teachers, farmers etc.If SLP does not wanna help they need to shut up and take the back seat and let the goverment do their job.Trust me it would be more hell if SLP was in.So to elevate the stress on the island, take it that we are one people, lets all help a lending hand,THANKS...
