HERMAN’S THE MAN!

I appreciate the stance government is taking. Why are the workers so adamant that Hilary Herman is a poor boss?

The only reason I can think of is that Herman may be projecting onto the workers a sense that they are inferior.

They said that he called them corrupt but people need to look past that and work with the man. Surely he would not overlook his workers if he sees them genuinely trying to perform their duties to the fullest?

Sé pou ou dòmi an poulayé poul pou sav si poul ka honflé. Who feels it knows it. Where there is smoke there is fire. So, rather than trying to play hard ball, Government should listen carefully to the voices of the prison officers. There just may be something in it. Besides, what can Herman achieve without the backing of the officers? The Association is charged with responsibility for the good and welfare of the officers. I think it is fulfilling its mandate.

I want to applaud the government of St Lucia!

They should all be fired, this is about national security, what if those prisoners escape? This is very irresponsible of them.

Anonymous said...

Is the corruption that might be uncovered those prison officers afraid o. The drug rings bringing drugs and cell phones in for the prisoners... all kinda stupidness going on at that prison

Zeigy, it is not about what you think, it does not matter what you think, it is about the reality of the situation. You all must KNOW the facts before rushing to judgement. The officers know they are subordinate, NOT INFERIOR, to the higher ranks. That does not means they do not have to standup for their rights, yes they have rights, they are the ones taking the horrors from the criminals. Herman cannot sit in an air conditioned office provided by these same officers tax dollars and want to take away the benefits they worked so hard to earn over the years. Where was Herman when the officers had to work under that nasty condition on Bridge street? Herman is not the first prison boss to discipline officers for misconduct, as far as i know that was being done a long time ago. Many officers were fired in the past, so there is nothing special about him, except that he had no prison experience before Bordelias. If officers are currupt under your watch, what does that say about your leadership? A fish start to rot form the head. Being in the U.S. army does not qualify one to run a prison. Most people are mentally unstable upon leaving the army, and they need constant treatment and evaluation. Yes fire all of them and bring in your friends, that is what somebody said, that is not as easy as it sounds. After St Lucia is in such a mess, we have a government who do not listen to the workers. Where are the people who always mention arrogrance, is that not arrogrance? What is so special in Herman, that we cannot find someone else to run the prison? This is the security of the state and we cannot allow, there to be so much conflict in our security. Mayers must understand he cannot play with the security of the state.Praise God it is only 2 years remaining for us to releave these incompetent mini stars from our backs.

Thank god you SLP under Kenny don't stand a chance. Pot calling Kettle black? Is this what I am reading here. It's your own man that you trusted for years that the flambeaus want to put back in there. If he was good under the SLP why isn't he good under the Flambeaus.

STOP THE POLTIICS
THINK ABOUT OUR COUNTRY!

You are smart but we St Lucians are not stupid and cannot be easily bluffed anymore, like compton use to do to us in the past. I want you to answer honestly, which party will win the next election, with the situation we have in St Lucia today. You honestly believe the uwp is doing such a good job, that we St Lucians are going to give them a secound term? All kettles could get black, none is perfect, what we are saying is there are kettles that are better than others, and we must choose the better kettle. Not because the SLP employed Herman he is the best man for the job, so what you talking about? That is the reason we elected the uwp, to make thing better, not to continue he old system of the SLP. Where are the uwp policies, they should have thier own? They only continue the bad policies, but disrgard the good ones like completing the mental and gereral hospitals, the forensic lab, continuing the highway to Gros, Islet, continuing the beautification and claning up of the island etc, etc. Who is playing politics? You think by bring back Herman to Bordelias to create a choas or disaster will be good for the security of the state?

How can we talk about who is going to win the next elections when King has millions of dollars at his disposal.

Money talks bullshit walks.

Anonymous said...

With the way things are going every voter should demand payment for their vote. When you vote at for a group of fellas you are voting for too many invisible people you don't know waiting in the background. Grab your own money upfront before heading to the ballot box. New rule.

Zeigy said...

Money talks? Don't forget last elections the ostentatious display of campaign financing that Kenny Anthony undertook. People started asking where he was getting all this money from to fund his campaign. Yet Sir John still came out on top, defying even the results of a pre-election poll that had never been wrong in its predictions for elections throughout the Caribbean.

Anonymous said...

Kenny was probably getting the money from chavez and castro because they wanted him to be PM for life.

Anonymous said...

So King has millions of dollars at his disposal, so he will pay us to vote for him. Time is running out, how much people will benefit from King borrowed milions, in the remaining two yrs? peolpe will not be fooled with a few dollars at election time, and vote for a government who has wasted 5 years of our lives, only creating scandals after scandals. We in St Lucia is not stupid anymore, Kenny has provided a secondary school place for each and everyone of us. No country in the caribbean did that in the time frame as Kenny did.

Anonymous said...

ZEIGY, Kenny lost the election, as we better off today? That is the question we must ask ourselve before we start rejoicing about the election results. We were supposed to change for the better.

Anonymous said...

But none of what is being presented to us today are capable of delivering better for. Kenny failed as we learnt from the report, and King has not faired any better. This is the Irony of the situation. We don't have leaders capable of making us better.

Anonymous said...

With all of his stupidity, King has never wasted as much money as Kenny did. What King is guilty of is being surrounded by bad influence. The last election was blessing in disguise. It allowed the people of St Lucia to put an end to Kenny's reckless spending and the arrogance the pushed his agenda.

Some might say that we did not get anything in return of that result. They are wrong as wrong can be. We did get something. It provided the country a window to realize that Kenny was Monkeying around with their money, the UWP not up to the job, and why none of the present actors are not fit to lead us again.

Mayers was just on Tim show, the man is behaving as if he do not even know why the officer are in up roar, he never saw a letter from the officers, he do not know when a boss will be hired at the prison etc, etc. If this man do not have a clue of the happenning at the prison, then why is he minister?

Anonymous said...

That's a lie. What he said is that the PM must give the final ok for any appointment. The approval must also come from the Public Service Commision.

Stop spining you'll way into confusing others.

Anonymous said...

King has not wasted as much money as kenny, but do you not regard wasting three long precious yrs of St lucians lives as not wasting money? Can you put a number on three yrs waste of St Lucians lives?

Anonymous said...

That qualify him to know when an appointment will be made? How long will a simple be made? It is months since the boss left.

Anonymous said...

Don't fool yourself. Dispite of the difficult global down turn,a lot of good things are happening in the country. King is not wasting any bodies live away. The poor guy is busy keeping the country afloat and at the same time busy paying Kenny's dept back to loaners.

Anonymous said...

The country is not on hold. It's the SLP which is on hold. After the freeness was taken away from them they don't have the intestinal fortitude to fend for themselves. This is the issue here. They make you think the country is on hold. No it's their pockets which are on hold. Look at them, praying for the next election to come. You think its about the country. Ah wah. It's about their self interest.

Anonymous said...

Name the good things that is happening in the country please. WE do nt need anybody to keep the country afloat, we need one to keep the country moving, just as Kenny had it. King is busy paying Kenny debt, and who is or will pay his debt, Atlease we all could see what Kenny did with some of the debt, but nobody can see King is doing with his.

You guys make me sick with this King and Kenny stuff. Go take a hike.

Where does the SLP stand on homosexuality?

Which of the two parties have more closet fags?

Anonymous said...

In two yrs time you will not hear about King anymore.

Guy Lucian/UK Boy said...

You have told us a lot of good things Kenny. Can you please answer my question on homosexuality?

Anonymous said...

YOU TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT KING AND KENNY, THEY ARE THE ONES WHO RUN ST LUCIA, OUR HOME, WHO DO YOU WANT TO HEAR ABOUT, OBAMA AND BUSH? YOU MORAN.

Guy Lucian/ UK BOY said...

What is your party position on homosexuaity?

Do you think there are more UWP fags than SLP or are they about equal?

Anonymous said...

Look, those of you complaining about King, FYI... we didn't elect him, it was your so called Sir John Compton who gave him to us so he's doing the best he can until the next election. Give him a break, will you?

Guy Lucian/UK BOY said...

Good job of evading the tough question. What a smart move. As a gay St Lucian who is not alone in this lifestyle, I want to know your party position.

I am not interested in who you want to put there. I am interested in your position.

Guy Lucian/UK BOY said...

I know of a few closet fags in both parties. I want to know when they are going to stop hiding behind the truth.

Anonymous said...

Good for you, no one gives a crap about your sexual preference, nobody cares who you sleep with so get a life.

Anonymous said...

Who gave us compton? He would have been no better than King at 82.

Anonymous said...

No body should answer to any gay comment on the forum.

Anonymous said...

I agree, this is no dating site.

Anonymous said...

Is there a homophopia in St Lucia. Why don't you'll answer the man's question about where your part stands. Why is the subject tamboo among even those who practice it.

Anonymous said...

We're not here to discuss bedroom issues.

Zeigy said...

All this talk about King and Kenny on this thread. Are we still blaming or praising government for all that is wrong or right with the country?

We need to step forward and play an active role in the going-ons of the country. How else are leaders going to emerge naturally to wear the political mantle?

When a community cries out for something to be done about its water problems we should rally to their support, when a hotel wants to keep locals off its beaches we need to bombard them with letters of our dissatisfaction, when an entrepreneur cries foul because the police don't take his case of theft seriously we need to demand action from our officers.

Never leave your fellow country man in distress, help him, if not in principle then for yourself because at the end of the day failure to act only hurts you.

Anonymous said...

I second that Zeigy!!

Zeigy said...

^ Thanks. I think I'll make that my mantra.

Anonymous said...

most of you are just going bla bla bla and achieving nothing, but the question is why is it that the officer are being bombarded so much for standing up for their rights for what is due to them. are they suppose to just take all the shit that is being dished out to them, because that's what from most the comments made. you st.lucians boy i wish i knew a word to describe most of you.far too long the officer have been keeping quiet and trying to solve their problems in a civilized manner, and those that are suppose to help then are spitting in their faces, and claiming that they dont know what was going on, big bunch of liars. anyway light always triumphs over darkness time will tell.

Zeigy said...

^ All right, since you seem to know something. What are the difficulties the officers are having? Because I hear stories all the time about how prisoners have cell phones, tattoo guns and cigarettes inside the prisons. What is the source of contention for the prison wardens?

Anonymous said...

Herman is going to cut off their business so they don't like him.

Anonymous said...

ZEIGY, Please show me one prison in this world that CONTRIBAN does not end up in prison? Prison officers ore not the only source for goods to enter the prison, you will be supprised to know how these things enter the prison.

Heidi said...

Congratulations Mr.Herman at last good sense has prevailed.
Thank you Mr.Walker for your courage in exposing the rot and finally Mr.PM looks like you are growing some marbles too.
Next stop the Police Welfare Association.A group fostering, nurturing and protecting incompetant, ignorant and corrupt Policeman.
LETS CLEAN UP THE POLICE TOO.

Anonymous said...

What business did herman is going to stop? Did he stop anything whiles he was there? How can a man with no prison experience, or no prison qualifications stop anything in prison. He have to learn prison work first before he become effective. There is no prison in the world, that prisoners are not found with illegal articles, that cannot be stoped, it can only be controlled much less in St lucia where everybody knows each other or is one another blood relative.

Anonymous said...

Good for them, as Walker say they are sheep to be led. I can wait for Herman to come in. where were they when police and firemen were making sure they got what was due them. I hear they went to work even when their shift was not on to make sure they were recognize for "putting country first" In fact they were commended for their stance. Thank God, Mandela, or Martin Luther King Jr. did not have men of that calibre behind them in protest. Now you all get your 37 dollars and Herman you want to cry. Police got over 200. You get what you deserve.

Anonymous said...

Where are you living, the policemen are still fighting for what is theirs.

Anonymous said...

Herman is the best man for the job. one thing persons need to learn is that in any job not only bordelais sub ordinates never like authority no matter what you do unless you are linient with them and allow them to do what they want. It's because he pays attention to detail, implimenting measure to make bordelais better and most of all FIRM, this is why the prison officers don't like him. what he should do now is to assess/ evaluated all of them. bordelais is not a hospital, neither is it a school. It's a tough job and you need some one that is responsible and firm to run it. government choose the right person herman do your job to your best ability and don't disappoint. sa ki paca fair travi yo replace yo. Those that don't like you still have to work with you. it's a job take my advise expect that. keep it up!

Hilary Herman should return to his positon, he is the individual who has the most experience both in terms of his employment background and academic attainment. Surely, this should be considered in any decision being made. The re- appointment of Mr Herman should be judged on merit and not based on the egnorance demonstrated by either the community or prison officers who have remained collusive in their views in acheiving their indivual aims. Mr Herman is a hard working disciplinarian who promotes honesty and openess, working within a community that to an extent still colludes with corruption they will enevitably experience huge difficulties with Mr Herman, who is a sound individual in all aspects.
