Whats going on in St.Lucia? I do believe its time the law starts to make an example out of those criminals who keep destroying the country's name.

Make a serious example with them PLEASE!

Looks like this year is going to be the highest for homicides on record. That happens it will be the final nail in UWP's coffin because as much as I don't like Kenny Anthony and the way he speaks like he is on a crusade, he did bring in those british officers and I felt safer when they were around.

Always the same areas. When will these people realize the gang thing isn't a good life style?. Bring in the RSS lock down those areas for a week or 2. Rel search down the place you will see guns you'll finding.

At least we are not hearing ....Kenny is responsible for the crime!!!
If we have Ministers saying do not raid certain areas as it would infuriate the dwellers of those areas....let " Peace and Love" initiatives work.....Then we will continue to have young men with firearms killing each other.
The situation requires immediate and harsh intervention as NO ONE is willing to call in tips as there are stories of instances when people call-in tips and the perpetrators have full knowledge including phone numbers!!So people don't trust the police!!
Then you have a forensic lab which was so close to completion taking close to 3 yrs. to complete...and a Minister saying it is not required!!! There were also individuals who were given training scholarships who are working in other areas!!
We have Ministers who supposedly getting away with criminal activities setting bad examples.
We have young mothers for years bearing children which they cannot feed or nurture!
We have young people who can not find work and who do not want to follow progammes put in place by the last government and are still available NSDC etc.
We have corporal punishment still being sanctioned in school albeit by Principals.....
We have an angry set of young people....carrying dangerous weapons ....trigger happy....
The problem is HUGE and multi-sectoral!!!!
People it is sad!!!

ZEIGY, atlease you begin to see the light and are starting to speak the truth, and you see some good in Kenny. You could hate Kenny as much as you want, but you cannot prevent him from coming back to CONTINUE the massive development he started in our beloved country, as you said he is on a CRUSADE of DEVELOPMENT in St Lucia. Look around, all over St Lucia and you will see the images of Kenny. The only mistake you made is saying the final nail will be in the uwp coffin, the truth is the final nail was in the uwp coffin a long time ago. This party is DEAD

I though that uwp promise to stop crime, what happen to the PEACE AND LOVE? I suppose they are to busy commiting it themselves.

The police need to parade those areas like Grass Street more often. Usually the police presence can help. St Lucians stop shooting. You are giving our country a bad name and soon no one will want to visit. The minister responsible needs to make a more serious effort to try and combat those crimes in a small island like St Lucia. This is unbelievable in a small place like that the minister and police have to let crimes escalade like tat. NOT GOOD..

Do you people ever listen to yourselves?
Remember the "Plywood City" era, or the (what we called) the "Ombray" era or even the "Ballot or Bullet era?
History will show that every violent era since the 60s have come on the heels of SLP dissatisfaction to election results.
Understand this people: When a political party uses disenfranchised people to commit lawlessness in order to achieve their lusts, it becomes almost impossible to stem the actions of those people, even after you win. You are powerless to act, as those very people know too much of your secrets.
Remeber, this violence and drug problem did not happen under the UWP watch, but the "Kenny Regime". And now you want the UWP to somehow fix this problem you created and still continue to encourage.
Only idiots will buy this hypocricy!
But then, in the land of the blind, the blind man is king.

Let me first say that the ONLY way to effectively reduce crime in st.lucia is for parents to start becoming more strict with their children. "do u know where yr children are?" remember that? from a young age parents need to keep an watchful eye on their youth, because it is during that phase they become engrossed with the glamour of a bad man lifestyle. I know that some youth are rebelious, but that's where the challenge lies. 2: g'ment needs to enforce sticter punishments for every offense. 3: there should be randomn searches on these blocks.4: That "movado" music has these little punks feeling empowered by violence and drugs dealing and usage. they are not making making money from it- obviously, only petty cash. so they're "bad" for props, or to belong? that's crazy!! These offenders have shown early signs of violence or "hopelessness" which is often ignored by teachers and even parents. I think that once an offense is committed in schools, these individuals should be expelled to a TRADE REFORM INSTITUTE. There, they will be on 24 hr lock down and exposed to various trade skills, from masonry n carpentry to horticulture. Also, they could be used (as with prisoners) to perform labour tasks for local schools or public venues or even private contract work. Their performance n attitude there could ultimately reduce their sentence. Successful completion could return them to society. They would also be exposed to parayer and religion, and the catholic church should play a roll in the implementation of this prject(and no funny business father, that could make it worst for them). I mean, if they refuse to show signs of progress, or digress, they could always be brought to the back, shot and fed to the pigs. another unsolved mystery. extreme, maybe, but I don't need them, society sure doesn't need them. Do you?

IAKM,

When you decide to speak such garbage, save it for a cabaret of drunken men, because its not going to fly here. Time and time again, it has been lamented that crime should not be politicized and yet it seems clear people like you want to make our crime situation political. I'm sure there are criminals who support SLP, UWP or no-party-at-all. You seem to suggest that the crime surge is because of the SLP and SLP supporters, because of dissatisfaction in the 2006 elections. So that was 2 years ago and we an actual reduction in homicides in 2007. So SLP supporters are only now disenchanted and weren't in 2007 I suppose, if I'm to follow your logic?

1. Crime is not only about homicides. We need to realize this is emotive. There are many other forms of crime which have to be dealt with and homicides are actually one of the crimes we have least control over curbing.

2. Inasmuch as crime is a social problem which requires long term shifts in ethics, attitudes and environment, the police must act if only to show force and presence in this current situation. Regardless of how its perceived, I believe the SSU should be deployed into what is nothing less than a war-zone. There should be 24-hour positioning of armed SSU officers in Grass Street, Conway, Leslie Land and Wilton's Yard. They must step up to the plate and become more conspicuous. This is not going to solve crimes or totally deter it but there's clearly a gang war on and it surely must be hurting families, the residents of these areas and the image of the country.

IAKM, Only SLP are criminals, you have gone to the prison and interview the criminals and all of them say they are SLPs, Kenny invented crime in St Lucia, only under SLP people commit crime, only people who are disatified with the election are commiting crimes, i cannot believe i am typing this gabbage, that kind of trash worked for the last election, it cannot work again, because Kenny has provided a secondary school for all of us, we are not as illiterate as before, in St Lucia. IAKM cannot remember there is an EX PRISONER in cabinet, he or she cannot remember police have ARRESTED 3 MEMBERS OF CABINET FOR BREAKING THE LAW, he or she cannot remember 2 CABINET MEMBERS ARE IN COURT FOR BREAKING THE COUNTRY LAW, ONE HAS ALREADY LOST AND HAS BEEN FINED. Are they not criminals? Next you will blame Kenny and the SLP for bring to much rain to St Lucia.

The United Nations Human Development Index came out this week. I decided to do some more clicking around. It turns out since UWP has been in power the scores have only inched up by .2 percent each year however under the SLP administration there was an almost 2% increase in one of the years they were in power.

I would just like to comment and say that this problem that we are facing is not something that is isolated to our once thought of beautiful country. It is simply due to the fact that we have forgotten our roots as a society and we have allowed evil, sin and all other forms of ungodliness to set a foundation in our country. The only true way for us to escape this disaster is to accept that there is a problem and go back to the foundations set in biblical doctrine. It is important we follow the words of the bible and not be fooled that this is a problem caused by political parties. The only solution to this problem is in prayer. Pray for our country, pray for our leaders, pray for the youth.

I blame the Jaimacan influence and the media which helps to import it.

There will always be more murders in St lucia, because most of the murderers go uncaught. When we have stupid people like Chasetnet playing politics instead of helping and developing the country. When he is making statements like the forensic lad is not needed in St Lucia, just because it was done by the SLP and he and his government has no plans or is doing nothing good in the country.

For the person who said, about the Jamaican influence that can be true. Everywhere in St. Lucia now is Gully or Gaza. What St. Lucians know about that?,

Zeigy said...

Despite us being over 30 ranks higher than the Jamaicans in terms of human development our poor people and still adopting their culture.

We need to put some pride in Lucians.
