St Lucia seeking assistance from Israel and US to combat crime

Published on January 29, 2011 Email To Friend Print Version

by Global News Staff

CASTRIES, St Lucia -- The St Lucia government is seeking assistance from Israel and the United States to combat a rising crime situation in the country.

Foreign Minister Rufus Bousquet said the local authorities were having a difficult time dealing with the spate of murders, which reached a record 48 last year.

He said there appeared to be no let up in the murders, with six people being killed so far this year.

The CMC reported that Bousquet said, "I will be the first to admit that crime in St Lucia has reached alarming proportions and I don't believe that beyond giving technical assistance to the government or to the police that foreign officers such as persons within the Israeli Defence Force or the American armed forces are willing to come out here and put their personnel on the line.

"Or the question must be asked as to whether you do not want to engage in something like this that could result in some level of international discomfort."

He said, while the Israelis were dealing with their own problems in the Arab world, they have nonetheless indicated a willingness to help, as the Stephenson King administration pursues various strategies to deal with the crime situation.

A government that cannot secure its people and the land is not equipped to govern.

King Killing field, Fedrick Grave Yard, and Kenny Kennel

The alternative is the LPM

Ah well, I guess now the tidal wave of crime will rise. "Afoo's" clan will most definitely seek to avenge him. We all know that is how the cookie crumbles in Saint Lucia these days. An eye for an eye...vigilante justice is the only form of justice we seem to honour. The Police are involved, the politicians glorify it, the lopsided Constitution which supposedly constitutes our Freedoms and Rights as a people permits it,and the people accepts it. Let us not pretend we do not know what is going on. The deceased has been rumoured to have been running with the less acceptable characters in society and have been accused of being engaged in questionable conduct. That does not mean his death should go unavenged. Whoever took his life had no right to do so and ought to face the consequences within the confines of the law. But with all their investigation, will the Police ever find his assailant(s)certainly not. I'd be damned if they are genuinely searching. Somebody seem to be jumping for joy, blogging their idiocy in its fullness: "Too slow, kill some more."
We certainly have become rather blood thirsty haven't we? Be careful what you wish for Anonymous, for bullets have no eyes and they see no faces. Oh for crying out loud!

Police have no business to waste time when vermin kill each other. That is just one piece of trash wasted by another piece of trash. Raise better children.

@above ......I agree so much; let them take each others life. ANENGE? well I am sure his family are aware of his dealings and they have been profiting from it so; "see pas ni suitiwez pas ni voleau". They choose not to turn him into authorities and I am sure the authorities know him and some may have been involved with him so "sa yo zhwen chay bay". The cops must be saying one less to deal with and oh the Minister must be ANWAZEA !!!!!

Anyone involved in the drug trade has a death wish. You make your bed; you lie in it.

Such people terrorize the lives of others or poison their bodies with their drugs. They deserve to die!

Anonymous said...

Another one of them. maybe on a smaller scale. Mem bet mem pwel. Sorry to see them falling from their own demise and the onlookers of the like will not deviate from their crippling drug habits. The innocent become victims at times as we all know already. Like Gaboo and the rest after most of them are gone, hopefully there will be a lull, where we can retool as parents and guardians to guide a new generation. HOPE is a big word.

People it's not easy to solve gang related murders. If you know the person that was killed or ever heard about it you will put 2 and 2 together.

One less paycheck for the Drug Baron in the cabinet of St. Lucia. One less scumbag to hunt for in the future. One piece of trash taken off the streets.

We all know that this guy was no stranger to law enforcement. His entire life was one of crime; in fact, many of his immediate family members are responsible for a lot of the chaos in this country.

Like the rest of the world, ST LUCIA IS DYING!

So sad - once a beautiful and peaceful island.

The US took over the world and the world came into St Lucia.

This is going on everywhere. Only the decent people can stop it. However, most of them are asleep. If you consider yourself decent WAKE UP and TAKE BACK THE WORLD FROM EVIL before it's too late!
Maybe it's already too late . . .

At one time I didn't want the Israelis and Americans to come in as our crime fighters, but now I would welcome them with open arms.
Unfortunately, once they come in, they NEVER leave! They will take over our entire economy, including everything else.

We should ask the Columbian authorities for help. They know how to deal with the drug trade. They might even have intelligence on our local drug barons, and drug lords. Like the one in the Cabinet. As if I expect that to happen ever.

well we shouldn't judge, imperfection defines our entire existence. love, is what we are running from, hope alone will get us there. the Lord has his plan and uses us in fulfillment of his order. He used Arfo once to fulfill his will in St. lucia, and I guess He is using him again. i remember in the 90s lucia was getting really dread, until maybe 00-04 times, things started cooling out. so i believe things will cool out again. the yutes are raised with a false sense of purpose, and ability; compounded by strong negative influences. as long as they believe that 'badman' will be glorified, mentored, revered, and compensated with little to no actual financial gain, they will continue to seek to destroy themselves, others and our damned country. right now a void is left open for the next 'god father,'one that will prove to be tougher n badder than Arfo was. the g'ment has plenty to do with curbing this crisis, but parents have more. im sure Arfo knew of God, and so did his family, i pray that everyone who knew him, or connected to him will leave all vengeance to God! an eye for an eye, the who;e world goes blind!!!!

As long as such vermin kill each other out, that is fine by me. No need for such trash in our society. The Grave Yard is just that, another grave yard. Those who benefit from the underground economy [parents, family and legal and illegal prostitutes] are the only losers when rascals like mate get wasted. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

The constitution should be amended to include the right to have a drug-free society. Only then that legal parasites like Fredericks might wake up and see the damage that people like him are inflicting on the law-abiding citizens of this country. I am glad to see another of his paycheck perishing by the same curse that he and the rest of the UWP have brought over this country.

May the police find the criminals responsible for this deadly crime so that you guys can get some closure
