The obvious interest for St. Luicia is that Mara was born in St. Lucia and is the daughter of the former UWP Chairman Henry Giraudy and Monica Giraudy( nee Beaubrun)(his first wife).

Congrats Mara and it is good to see that Bajans did not succumb to the insularity that reared its ugly hear with regard to her nationality.

Owen is a snake trying to unite the region and at the same time dissing Mara for not being born in Bim.

God bless the OECS though, we are united as one and we will go many places.

Mara, do good to your constituent, be an honest politician like Janine Compton is doing over here. I think we need more good women leading this world.

I hope the cabinet of Ministers in Barbados do not treat Mara as the Cabinet of St Lucia currently treating Janine Compton.
If ever King tries to give Janine a Ministerial position the ex prisoner Rufus Bousquet firing king.King has no say in cabinet.
BRAVO EX PRISONER

The constituency of St. John has been DLP from way back. It's a small and remote area. Perhaps the most subdued parish in all of Barbados. There is nothing constructive happening out there. So it's not a surprise of Mara outcome and all the sympathy votes. This was only a by-election; the real test for Mara would be at the general elections when the Lucian factor comes into play. Owen Arthur is no fool.

Why did the writer of this article NOT mention the reason why we in St. Lucia should be so interested in the victory of Mara Thompson in replacing her late husband, the former Prime Minister of Barbados.

Nothing in this article mentions that Mrs. Thompson is a St. Lucian from a political family in that her father was a Member of Parliament and the Chairman of the ruling United Workers Party.

Is it that the “journalist” did not want to ascribe any success to anyone or event associated with the UWP ?

This article comes out at the same time that a totally intellectually fraudulent other article in the same issue of the Voice newspaper runs a comparison between the victory by Mrs. Thompson and the confirmation of Kenny Anthony as the leader of the SLP.

Is it mere coincidence that both articles TOGETHER appear to try to distance Mara Thompson(nee Giraudy) from the UWP of which her father was Chairman and link her success to Kenny Anthony and the SLP?

If this is the intent of the Voice then this is the kind of fraudulent journalism that is now endemic in the main stream media in the United States and Europe. No longer are honest journalists interested in the truth but in personal agendas that are pushed with all kind of journalist tricks and word usage.

Say it ain’t so Mr. Editor and it was just an honest mistake !

The only honest mistake in St Lucia was when we elected UWP into office.

Do not worry we will fix that mistake in about a year. Never again to elect a bunch of semi literate into office.

You mean goons! Never have I seen an electorate so dumb as to elect jailbirds, drug barons, crooked politicians and medical doctors all at once in one government. Our dummy electorate voted for all these people? Incredible.

And that foolish girl, Jannine Compton calling for people to support that group of semi-literates from the PM down to Guy Mayers and Guy Joseph. What a curse!

The PM is so slow-minded that even after the incident in his office, he remains the only person in St. Lucia who does not know that there is a drug baron right in his cabinet that is causing mayhem in our streets and neighbourhoods.
