'Given'? That was always a foregone conclusion! Parliamentary majorities are just rubber stamps.

So this is just the first tranch of the over 1 billion dollars to be borrowed by the Kenny Anthony and Phillip Pierre Administration in the next 4 1/4 years!

Have Kenny and Phillip signed any other Rochamels or Grynsbergs yet that we will find out about in 2021? LOL !

3rd World underdeveloped politics at its best !

Spending of borrowed money = major visible accomplishment.

The important point is that prudent people look at facts and come to conclusions.

The FACT is that Kenny Davis Anthony and his poodle Phillip Pierre have not only dug St. Lucians a huge unsustainable fiscal hole but with their socialist/liberal/progressive leanings have also killed our societies and made our quality of life miserable. Walk down any street in Castries to see what I mean. Look at all the burgler bars in the posh houses in Cap or Rodney Bay.

Pointing to the fact that successive liberal/progressive/socialist(Democrats)leaders or quasi - liberal/progressive/socialist(Republicans)in the USA have also killed their economy and society is no consolation.

Pointing to the failed 3rd World underdeveloped state of St. Kitts is also no consolation.

Unfortunately asking St. Lucians to come out of their indecent way of life is almost impossible so we must just face the fact that we "Like it So!"

What will happen is that St. Lucia MAY look to change when we finally go over the brink and no one will lends us money and living here is almost a suicide pact with the devil. By then it will be too late and no one will be able to unravel the mess.

By then all the incompetents of the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s would have absconded without claiming any responsibility.

The people to bear the brunt of the leadership failure will be the young people of today while the Kennys, Kings, Phillips, et al will be resting somewhere and even giving advise on how to get out of the mess they created.

A huge downfall will come whether in 1 or 4 or 8 years but we are a failing state.

St. Lucia under Kenny Anthony, Phillip Pierre and the St. Lucia Labour Party is like a household which makes $40,000 annually and spends $50,000.

After 10 years they owe $100,000 and also have interest payments of $5,000 annually.

On top of that their daughter has two children out of wedlock and lives at home with a weed head while their son spends his time on the street corner smoking and running of to play football every afternoon with his opartners.

One daughter is studying at Sir Arthur , getting good grades and somehow has escaped the trap.

Yet Daddy Kenny and Mommy Phillip pretend that everything is great and fine. Occasionally they meet at the dinner table (Parliament) and tell the "family" how this bank gave them another credit card so they can go on a holiday to Miami for summer.

"Oh, Mummy Phillip the banks really think we are credit worthy for they gave us another credit card and Bank Y has agreed to increase our overdraft by $10,000", says Daddy Tony. Even as the 21 year old son staggers drunk into the home at 9:00 pm after a lime with his friends.

Mommy Phillip asks, "And how was your football son, come and have a bit to eat so you can get over the rum."

Eveery aspect of St. Lucia's life is under attack from the schools, to the public finances, to the family, to the state of sports, to the infrastructure and the SLP band plays on and on and on and on ... like the band on the Titanic.

Then this year Daddy Kenny and Mommy Phillip go out and borrow another $10,000 dollars. Oh yes we must rmemeber to show it in the right was - US$4,000. That wat it does not look like too much.

In Europe Spain now has to pay 6% interest to borow money they used to get at 3%. Does that send any danger signals to St. Lucia's incompetent Minister of Finance?

People watch the DOW in America going up and do not care as most of the upward movement is from big "players" manipulating the stocks.

The EURO is on the point of breakup because of the crazy borrowing and drunken spending of Greece, Spain, Portugal, et al and the authorities just keep kicking the can down the road afraid to deal with the problem now.

The fool Obama borrows 1,400,000,000,000 annually and Congress made up of the elitist class of both Democrats and Republicans support his actions as America also goes off the cliff.

The unfunded liabilities of the US government and the states run to over &70 TRILLION and all our incompetent leaders act as if nothing is happening.

Welcome to lala land as St. Lucians get pulled into the vortex by a madman pretending to be a leader and Minister of Finance and who has no sense of reality.

I don't know why Kenny Anthony refuses to use the money that we get from our booming gold and diamond industry in St. Lucia. I mean, what's the point of Lucians working in these mines to keep our diamond industry afloat and then Kenny refuses to capitalize on the money we get from this trade. Kenny Anthony insists on borrowing money from banks to support St. Lucia making us look like all those other Caribbean countries that don't have any real appreciable industry besides tourism to support themselves. I am tired of Kenny borrowing when our diamond industry can more than support the country for millions of years to come

if the gov were to borrow a billion $$ i hope they can do a great deal of projects b4 the next elections.. so borrow with economic and infastructural advancements is my view..we need so many things .. remeb we are hosting the Under 17 CommonWealth Games in 2017 there is more borrowing to come to increase and spruce up sporting facilities which will augurwell for our sports-tourism as a whole.. we need a good and exapnded road network, university, cul de sac needs development, vigie needs to close down to allow for commerial + hotel plants then and only then will we see st lucia truly developing & BORROWING is the only way to bring that about unless Investors come to our rescue
