BORROWING US$50,000,000.00

So Kenny, Tony and Phillip are borrowing another $135,000,000.00 dollars to kill the economy.

Notice how Kenny, Tony and Phillip play games. The press release does not say EC$135,000,000.000 but US$50,000,000 so it does not LOOK as being so much.

But that is the extent of the Kenny and Tony facade. Nothing is what it seems. Every thing is played to APPEAR as better than it is or not as bad as it is.

So all of a sudden we are operating within a US dollar economy. I thought we dealt in EC dollars and had an Eastern Caribbean Currancy Authority.

So this year we borrow another couple hundred million dollars and our debt goes up again.
When things are bad we borrow and spend like drunken sailors to "prime pump" the economy. When the economy is up a little bit we borrow more and like moomoos we do not see that it is killing us because "tings" good!

Poor St. Lucia.

Oh yes - I forgot.

After borrowing the money neither Phillip or Kenny will report on how the money was wasted and next year will just borrow another couple hundred million and neither the audit dept or the opposition will bring up anything about the mismanagement or wastage.

By the time they demit power our national debt will be another one or two billion more and Kenny will go on to be "honoured" by his socialist. liberal. progressive friends in the Caribbean.

Where were you, above, when King and his gang of misfits and miscreants borrowed hundreds of millions, where were you with your comments on those loaned monies; show me one or half a decent project resulted from those loans?

Now that Kenny is borrowing to fix the Buffon's errors you have finally found your voice and not muted anymore!!

I am not here condoning Kenny's borrowing if the monies will not be accounted for as in the case of King and his gang. But I am certain that the monies borrowed from Kenny will be accounted for.

Sacre san honte!

Rochamel - $100 million and neither Kenny, Tony or Phillip have appeared at a commission of enquiry.

Hundreds of millions lost or to be lost in the oil exploration fiasco with grynsberg and our national resourses controlled by someone else. Where has Kenny, tony or phillip said anything about this travesty.

$1 billion borrowed betweed 1997 -2006 (during the phillip and kenny regime) and less than a 1.5% growth rate even during the huge housing boom in the US and massive borrowing in Europe.

And the moomoos hang on to every fraudalent word by labour party leaders and hear what they want to hear and only see what they want to see.

Anonymous said...

Now another $250,000,000.000 to increase the national debt because the $135,000,000 is only from one source.

Anonymous said...

Kenny needs to stop!! This is too much borrowing.

Anonymous said...

Kenny should focus on generating revenue streams and spend only the revenue realized. Kenny also has to match expenditure with revenue: in other words, he should not spend monies this year based on expected revenues which will be realized next year because interest is going to create a heavier burden on the economy. The actual cost of the money borrowed is way in excess of the $35 million when you factor interest. If there is not money to build a side walk, tell the people and they will understand. And where will the money for YEP come from? Is it part of the $35 million?

Anonymous said...

Look what happens to European countries because of past borrowing.

Anonymous said...

You can not continue to borrow like that. You digging a deeper hole which st. Lucia can't pay back and look now grynberg wants 200 million USD.

Who says Kenny has any logic to finance and fiscal prudence. I pity Emma...she should be handling Finance not KENNY.

That's running to the moon. Slu stick in that.

I SEE A CABINET SHUFFLE SOON!

AAA

Look at what SLP's Financial Guru doing. LOL

Well our chew fan net!

In addition Kenny wrote off $32 million from hoteliers who had collected Occupancy Tax on behalf of the government and ate the money. Kenny also increased the overdraft from $25 million to $35 million because of inflation and it had been at that amount of $25 million for a long time. Overdrafts are supposed to be reduced and wiped out. At the same time, the country is losing $17 million of Chou's contribution for all the constituencies. Something does not make sense. You are giving away money, rejecting money, increasing the overdraft and then borrowing money. This contravenes SLP's philosophy of sacrifice, belt tightening and financial responsibility. This is a national issue and not a partisan issue.

I foresaw all of dat in my crystal ball. I also foresaw those silly milibugs tongue tied. Where are y'all milibugs! It wasn't to long ago, you were barking the loudest. Don't you have anything to say. Well, you rip what you sow.....We go all suffer together under Dr Jekle & Hyde. My goodness, that man have no respect for the people of St.Lucia. What, did Kenny think, less zeros would make it easier on the eye???

Tuesday June 26th 2012 in the parliament of Saint Lucia, witness a clear indication of such.
First, the realization that the implementation of VAT schedule for September1st 2012 is unrealistic and requires another month is now slated for October 1st2012.

Personally, more delays, more time and more confusion is expected.

The VAT infrastructure is simply not in place and subsequently not ready for implementation.

Then the expected norm, the addition borrowing of US$50 million “The money is expected to be used toward the implementation of projects under the capital expenditure component of the 2012/2013 budget”. All too often in a parliamentary apparatus that is unable to differ even if members know better, by nature of their training and expertise.
To top it all off prime minister Kenny Anthony remain helpless but to lament that “when persons do not pay taxes as required by law the state sometimes turns a blind eye, how else can we explain the fact, that in the Hotel sector for example there are outstanding liabilities of (HAT) hotel accommodation tax of $36 million, how do we explain that”.

Permit me to refer you to the LPM press release dated June 9th 2012 – “The SLP government needs to inherit equity to safeguard potential losses now and in the future” and the article of June 14th 2012 Options to Growth, published in the voice of Saint Lucia.

Excellent contribution above.

As you said he is giving away money, rejecting money, borrowing like a madman, increasing the overdraft!! Lol.

What a joke.

The financial and mamagerial emperor has no clothes but no matter how much you tell St. Lucians they simply believe what they want irrespective of the reality !!

Anonymous said...

U guys above are a bunch of jokers. I can remember the PM saying during his budget presentation, that the country will have to borrow to complete all the election projects. So come again with a diff line of attack guys.

Anonymous said...

There's only one line of attack. Kenny can't borrow to thy kingdom come. He blamed my government from everything under the sun. Now he is padding up our debt worse than Mr. King.

For crying out loud. Kenny is a serial joker!!!

Who are to blame?

No comments by the non political leaders of this country of 2 inept accused rapists with senior positions in this Administration ?

No comment on the continuation of the tax, borrow and spend policies of this SLP Administration led by Kenny, Tony and Phillip Pierre?

No comment on Rochamel or Grynsberg?

Where is the panel discussion on Grynsberg by HTS, DBS, Choice, RSL or any of the other media houses?

Where is the panel discussion on the SLP borrowing madness over 10 years of running this country?

Instead we have "activists" promoting the indecent agenda of themselves and the liberal white class of the developed countries promoting abortion, indecency, same sex marriage, men having sex with men, prostitution, children coming to terms with their sexuality at an earlier and earlier age and everything else guaranteed to kill this country.

Anonymous said...

What about the word ACCUSED does blogger@4:52pm doesn't understand. Be bold and show your hands when making your statements.

What have you achieved. Lorne Theophilus is an Attorney by profession and an intelligent man.

Least I forget, he is also Tourism Minister. What are you?

Anonymous said...

Accused?

Go back to the Star newspaper of the time and the reporting on the incident to ask and understand what one means by "accused" !

Such horrible , indecent and primitive actions !

the problem with St. Lucia now is that we have lost sight of what is right and wrong.

All this borrowing is function of dysfunctional governments equally and continuously produced by both the UWP and the SLP.

Errol Walton Barrow once retorted in a conversation with Compton, that he Compton knows little about economics.

History proved Errol Barrow to be uncannily prophetic.

Without the benefit of a protectively-priced banana market, Compton had absolutely no clue how to turn around the economy.

That hopeless egomaniac dropped the failed economy like a hot potato into the lap of Vaughan Lewis.

Clueless again, more clueless voters re-elected Compton and his party to power.

Lo and behold, he came back offering the country his same old recipe for failure, that being 'banana-pie-in-the-sky' economic revival.

To add insult to injury, he brought in a US jailbird plus a drug lord into the UWP to help him gain and retain power.

Meanwhile, Mr. Know-it-all financial wizard, Dr. Kenny Anthony, negotiated away $45 million, they say to create 600 low-paying Rochamel jobs.

That was not enough. He guaranteed our patrimony, that being our own land in a deal that did not secure our land, should the unknown company should fail.

So $45 million went one way and now $58 million is going another way.

There is more.

Mr. Secret-Deals made one with Grynberg, with the blessings of someone whose business financial expertise is based on international relations.

Now we have to make up for the loss of $45 million, plus $58 million for the Black Bay lands, and a possible payment of US $200 million plus legal fees for the Grynberg egg-on-his-face egregious blunder.

The accounting will rename, re-title, and disguise all these payments, but the end result is manifested in more and more borrowings against the future welfare of generations of Saint Lucians all being held ransom.

Kenny is a fool!

St. Lucians should be very concerned over the fact that both the UWP and the SLP are struggling to migrate from governance to managing economies. Governance deals with building schools, side walks, electricity etc. These are the traditional issues which our past governments have had to deal with. When it came to managing the economy in a global context, both governments have failed in negotiating and protecting, building and preserving the assets of the country. 100% of the foreign deals have failed us but the same guys keep on believing that they know it all. The SLP government is fortunate to have someone like Dr. Ubaldus Raymond in its ranks. He should be heading all business transactions which the government gets involved in, not only because he is qualified, but he has lived in a country like the US where he can smell a scheme on first sight. What does Kenny do? He sends Emma, Vaughn Lewis and Batos to negotiate a business deal in the UK, leaving Dr. Raymond under utilized. Do not be surprised if this deal goes sour again. What a shame.

What has the borrowing to do with Theophilus?

Most of these comments are off key and shows their party colours without looking at the realities we are faced by .. in these small economies with little natural resources except for the employees of this country we dont have much choices except to borrow..

Yes it does sound like alot of money but all govs everywhere with limited natural resources has to borrow at some point ALL.. SO TO FINANCE BUDGETS ST LUCIA HAS TO BORROW TO KEEP ITS ECONOMY AFLOAT PPL.. all countries has to face debts on its GDP ALL , America debt to GDP IS $15TRILLION BUCKS and counting.. ST.KITTS is $2BILLION which makes up 200% of itd DEBT TO GDP, BARBADOS,ANTIGUA,GRENADA ARE 100% or close to that figure..ST.LUCIA SO FAR HAS AMONG THE LOWEST DEPT TO GDP RATIO WHICH IS AROUND 72% in comparison to CARICOM islands..

Anonymous said...

Yes Mr. know all. I bet you are not living in the country. Kenny was the one who lied to people about Better Days. Are you saying that it is okay for him to bury the country in debt to experiment with Better Days.

Anonymous said...

St. Lucians are so idiotic and blissfully ignorant! Whether or not the government's policies will bring about the desired results regarding the economy, it is the complete and thorough jackass that really believes that this can ever be accomplished in just about seven straight months!

Anonymous said...

The important point is that prudent people look at facts and come to conclusions.

The FACT is that Kenny Davis Anthony and his poodle Phillip Pierre have not only dug St. Lucians a huge unsustainable fiscal hole but with their socialist/liberal/progressive leanings have also killed our societies and made our quality of life miserable. Walk down any street in Castries to see what I mean. Look at all the burgler bars in the posh houses in Cap or Rodney Bay.

Pointing to the fact that successive liberal/progressive/socialist(Democrats)leaders or quasi - liberal/progressive/socialist(Republicans)in the USA have also killed their economy and society is no consolation.

Pointing to the failed 3rd World underdeveloped state of St. Kitts is also no consolation.

Unfortunately asking St. Lucians to come out of their indecent way of life is almost impossible so we must just face the fact that we "Like it So!"

What will happen is that St. Lucia MAY look to change when we finally go over the brink and no one will lends us money and living here is almost a suicide pact with the devil. By then it will be too late and no one will be able to unravel the mess.

By then all the incompetents of the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s would have absconded without claiming any responsibility.

The people to bear the brunt of the leadership failure will be the young people of today while the Kennys, Kings, Phillips, et al will be resting somewhere and even giving advise on how to get out of the mess they created.

A huge downfall will come whether in 1 or 4 or 8 years but we are a failing state.

St. Lucia under Kenny Anthony, Phillip Pierre and the St. Lucia Labour Party is like a household which makes $40,000 annually and spends $50,000.

After 10 years they owe $100,000 and also have interest payments of $5,000 annually.

On top of that their daughter has two children out of wedlock and lives at home with a weed head while their son spends his time on the street corner smoking and running of to play football every afternoon with his opartners.

One daughter is studying at Sir Arthur , getting good grades and somehow has escaped the trap.

Yet Daddy Kenny and Mommy Phillip pretend that everything is great and fine. Occasionally they meet at the dinner table (Parliament) and tell the "family" how this bank gave them another credit card so they can go on a holiday to Miami for summer.

"Oh, Mummy Phillip the banks really think we are credit worthy for they gave us another credit card and Bank Y has agreed to increase our overdraft by $10,000", says Daddy Tony. Even as the 21 year old son staggers drunk into the home at 9:00 pm after a lime with his friends.

Mommy Phillip asks, "And how was your football son, come and have a bit to eat so you can get over the rum."

Eveery aspect of St. Lucia's life is under attack from the schools, to the public finances, to the family, to the state of sports, to the infrastructure and the SLP band plays on and on and on and on ... like the band on the Titanic.

How much you up there know anything about how a government is run? Since when does any minister other than the Minister of Finance hold responsibility for spending and spending limits?

lets just stick to the matter on hand too often ppl like to express innuendos like little children ... what kenny s daughter or pierre's family have to do with borrowing..tell me ..come on once we stop doing this we can elevate as a ppl.. i want to see stlucia develop more and that is not limited to only castries and gros islet

WE FORGET TOO OFTEN places like canaries,laborie.. esp VFORT.. i want to see dr.kenny really stir economic activity in v fort..I WOULD AGREE IF THE GOV BORROWED $200Million to build a university in v fort cause in the long run many of the ignorant comments we have hear would be absent or disappear all at once.. ppl would be educated enough to choose a competent rep for their constituencies..
