Tom Walcott i a mummy (a relic of the past) who wants to make himself relevant i the political discourse of Saint Lucia. He is just a rabid rouser making outlandish, baseless claims to get some attention.
Truth be told his party benefitted from a balanced press, in particular The Voice and The Mirror, who could not find any reason to justify the corruption and abuse of power of the former administration. These media houses were duty bound to tell it like it is hence the reason why the SLP formed the government to a large extent.
To my mind the media has been gracious to the SLP in extending the proverbial honeymoon. It would be fool hardy of the media to be cowered by this neanderthal and relinquish its responsibility to the Saint Lucian populace. The media must not be attacked nor defended by any political they should perform their duty without fear or favour at all times.
Of course there re sections of the media which are biased to one political party or another but for the most part it s the opinion writers and the columnists that express their opinions on the issues of the day according to their beliefs and world view.
It would be a cold day in hell when relics like Tom Walcott will be so powerful in Saint Lucia that they can intimidate media workers and journalists that they all become subservient to the government of the day.
