Dr. Anthony should heed these sugestions:Castries is a dying city and needs a revitalization plan. There a too many makeshift hustle zones, too many abandoned buildings, too many filth street and dirty properties.Castries use to be one of the most beautiful cities in the Cribbean, but not anymore!

Surah Al-Mulk
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things. (1)

Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed.[] And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving; (2)

Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in the creation of the Most Gracious. Then look again: "Can you see any rifts?" (3)

Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out (4)

And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps (as) missiles to drive away the Shayâtin (devils), and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire (5)

And for those who disbelieve in their Lord (Allâh) is the torment of Hell, and worst indeed is that destination (6)

When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth (7)

It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: "Did no warner come to you?" (8)

They will say: "Yes indeed a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: 'Allâh never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error.'" (9)

And they will say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing Fire!" (10

So they acknowledge their sins; but far removed (from mercy) are the dwellers in the flames. (11)

Lo! those who fear their Lord in secret, theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward. (12)

And keep your opinion secret or proclaim it, lo! He is Knower of all that is in the breasts (of men). (13)
Should He not know what He created? And He is the Subtile, the Aware. (14)

He it is Who hath made the earth subservient unto you, so Walk in the paths thereof and eat of His providence. And unto Him will be the resurrection (of the dead). (15)

Have ye taken security from Him Who is in the heaven that He will not cause the earth to swallow you when lo! it is convulsed? (16)

Or have ye taken security from Him Who is in the heaven that He will not let loose on you a hurricane? But ye shall know the manner of My warning. (17)

And verily those before them denied, then (see) the manner of My wrath (with them)! (18)

Have they not seen the birds above them spreading out their wings and closing them? Naught upholdeth them save the Beneficent. Lo! He is Seer of all things. (19)

Or who is he that will be an army unto you to help you instead of the Beneficent? The disbelievers are in naught but illusion. (20)

from the holy Quran

dealing in fraud(Al-Mutaffifeen)

1. Woe to those that deal in fraud
2. Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure.
3. But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.
4. Do they not think that they will be raised up?
5. On a Mighty Day
6. A Day when(all)mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?
7. Nay! Surely the Records of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin
8. And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is?
9. (There is) a Register (fully)inscribed
10. Woe, that Day, to those that deny-
11. Those that deny the day of Judgment.

my uncle once work on one of those "SLAVE SHIPS" owned by this pirate, only to b feed rotten potatoes and blue-chicken-backs on a daily basis.

those slave ships was operating on a very high profit margin, but the slaves were being paid at bottom wages.

Mike, you have echoed my sentiments perfectly, about the mess in and around the City of Castries. There's nothing worse than a people, a nation or a government without a vision. Worse yet, the various parliamentarians over the years who have represented the City of Castries. If ever they had a vision for the City, it might have been directed to factors other than the environmental ecology of this City.
Mike, you are a man of vision, your whole life is a reflection of something I believe was a blessing from way back. Hard work, a determination to achieve the very things you have put your mind to.

When one looks at the wastelands of Cul De Sac and see, year after year, how no one have yet visualized the potential of these lands, but rather have left it to one or potentially others yet to come with ideas, that some of us are blinded to.
I believe you are a man of vision - I myself have agonized on the potential of the lands and the Bay of Cul de Sac, and see how year after year it lays there to waste.
WILL SOMETHING EVER BE DONE?

Says, Cicero.

I am from that valley and I had said years ago that the capital should be moved there, lol, that is when I was thinking real radical. Before we make such a big move we should think of the flooding that happens in the valley anytime you have two inches of rain. Another one of my peeves, when the Castries -VF highway was built the river was redirected and instead of building proper bridges over the old river they just put a culvert, this had caused the DeGlos area to flood real quick, the Dump is another that has caused quick flooding in the area to the point where the farmers crops get killed by water logs. I had even thought of a tunnel through the valley to Marchand. Why did he not bring that idea to the UWP government? Is this a campaign effort?

Mike:

Why do you think I am interested in what you looked like in 1666?
Did you think that your money would make you last forever?

Surah Al-Lail
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding (1)
And the day resplendent (2)
And Him Who hath created male and female, (3)
Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). (4)
As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) (5)
And believeth in goodness; (6)
Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. (7)
But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, (8)
And disbelieveth in goodness; (9)
Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. (10)
His riches will not save him when he perisheth. (11)
Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance (12)
And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. (13)
Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire (14)
Which only the most wretched must endure, (15)
He who denieth and turneth away. (16)
Far removed from it will be the righteous (17)
Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). (18)
And none hath with him any favour for reward, (19)
Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High. (20)
He verily will be content. (21)

We speak of the issue of containerization without speaking of volumes of trade. Shipping companies like Mearsk, Cosco, etc make decisions regarding transport easily once there is demand.

We need to firstly start thinking of ways of filling up these containers on the exist from St Lucia. In so doing we will not have 70% empty containers on our docs or return to shippers.

If you are looking for someone to blame, SLASPA may be an easy target, but really, we need to look at our national manufacturing sectors and possibilities for export.

We are constantly charged so much for transport, and the reason for this being, that we are charged for the return leg, that is often empty.

I agree that yes, we must look to move our containerized cargo to Cul De Sac, but if we would research and benchmark this shift, we will see that along with such a move there is also a great need for developing logistics, distribution centers etc at this location. The EUROMAX is a great case study, we may never get to that size, but there are some lessons to be learnt there.

Well hello my Lucian visionaries, I am encouraged that there are lots more around than I imagined.
My friend of Oct.28, 2013 @2:36AM have provided some facts that has always been a headache for many years, and I must say, beside the 'Planning' it will take lots of big bucks to correct things in the Valley.
On the other hand, our friend of Oct: 28, 2013 @ 8.10 AM, provided a most valuable and different angle to the discussion. I do hope some sincere (oh boy) P.M. and the Reps: for Ciceron and Castries South East are listening and taking notes.
This is serious business and must be pursued further. I don't care who takes up the cause but something has got to be done. This should not be a cause for politics, but knowing Lucians as I do, I fear it may fall into that dirty pit and get messed up.
Thank you fellow visionaries.

Yours truly, Cicero.
