When a woman is challenged, she seldom cringe and take cover. Women fight back, some go into attack and god help you.
I'm glad you have a woman at the top and I hope she has the balls to take on anyone for the challenge.
King blew it big time. When Kenny first came into power and UWP were in the wilderness, King had a great opportunity to improve himself academically, he did nothing.
Nothing X nothing = nothing.

Let this be a lesson to all, even to those presently in power. The government must realize that they are under the microscope and the people are not in a good mood. Don't take the seeming calm for granted.
Your daily attacks on Chastanet (not the UWP) and the racist rants on Allen does not hurt him at all but makes Labour look foolish indeed. You are better than that, so stop it.

NOW TELL ME, YOU MYOPIC ULTRA-LABOURITES, ARE YOU GONNA ATTACK THE NEW FEMALE LEADER?

KENNY ANTONY
But yesterday the word of Stevenson might
Have stood against the world. Now lies he there,
And none so poor to do him reverence.
O masters, if I were disposed to stir
Your hearts and minds to mutiny and rage,
I should do Allen wrong, and Rigobert wrong—
Who, you all know, are honorable men.
I will not do them wrong. I rather choose
To wrong the dead, to wrong myself and you,
Than I will wrong such honorable men.
But here’s a parchment with the seal of Stevenson.
I found it in his closet. 'Tis his will.
Let but the commons hear this testament—
Which, pardon me, I do not mean to read—
And they would go and kiss dead Stevenson’s wounds
And dip their napkins in his sacred blood,
Yea, beg a hair of him for memory,
And, dying, mention it within their wills,
Bequeathing it as a rich legacy
Unto their issue.

FORTH LUCIAN
We’ll hear the will. Read it, Kenny Antony!

KENNY ANTONY
Will you be patient? Will you stay awhile?
I have o'ershot myself to tell you of it.
I fear I wrong the honorable men
Whose daggers have stabbed Stevenson. I do fear it.

KENNY ANTONY
Nay, press not so upon me. Stand far off.

ALL
Stand back. Room! Bear back.

KENNY ANTONY
If you have tears, prepare to shed them now.
You all do know this mantle. I remember
The first time ever Stevenson put it on.
'Twas on a summer’s evening in his tent,
That day he overcame the Nervii.
Look, in this place ran Rigobert's dagger through.
See what a rent the envious Guy Joseph made.
Through this the well-belovèd Allen Chastanet stabbed.
And as he plucked his cursèd steel away,
Mark how the blood of Stevenson followed it,
As rushing out of doors, to be resolved
If Allen so unkindly knocked, or no.
For Allen, as you know, was Stevenson’s tourist-angel.
Judge, O you gods, how dearly Stevenson loved him!
This was the most unkindest cut of all.
For when the noble Stevenson saw him stab,
Ingratitude, more strong than traitors' arms,
Quite vanquished him. Then burst his mighty heart,
And, in his mantle muffling up his face,
Even at the base of Compton’s statue,
Which all the while ran blood, great Stevenson fell.
O, what a fall was there, my countrymen!
Then I, and you, and all of us fell down,
Whilst bloody treason flourished over us.
Oh, now you weep, and, I perceive, you feel
The dint of pity. These are gracious drops.
Kind souls, what, weep you when you but behold
Our Caesar’s vesture wounded? Look you here,
Here is himself, marred, as you see, with traitors.

This new recruit wont be PM. dont start counting the blessings. the uwp has shown that politics is a cruel game. vipers can gang up and bring anyone down. each man for himself. rigobert will swallow that bitter pill. watch. they will decide there is no use for her later on. chastanet needs a safe seat. she is in his way. nothing but a johnny come lately. there is no tremendous responsibility put on her shoulders, she needs to recognise that. she is just a pawn.

son of man how are u?
I am in love with this Nobel winning poem!!!!

2 this crack-head
@ 11:33 am
hear this!

viewing the imagination of my eternal thought, while
cruising its vastness of inhabitable seas,
enveloped in its superhighways of immortality, saturated with unmentionable illusion,
besieged with vague consciousness,
entangled in its web of imbecility
wanting to be free from monumental morass
of body, soul, and spirit.

I subdue this beast of ignorance,
that cyclones in the jungle
of my human mind, making waste and void
the frail, indoctrinated foundation
of life's purpose.

I MAN FED UP

I man fed up,
in my old age.
With all hindrance
that makes me fed up,
I need to find my highest potential
in all areas of my life,
meditate on my positive thoughts to combat
irrationality and negativity.
I man need to look at the present
and see what I man have
and where I man am standing,
building consciousness of whom
I man truly am.

I man overcome being fed up,
through resolving the past,
going into myself,
knowing myself,
fulfilling myself.
My goal is to elevate myself
from false imprints
and past images.
I am that I am.

Authentic
in my old age.

Saint Lucians, do they have a good side that they can show to the world? I wonder.

If it is at all true, if the Dr. was not responsible for someone else's reprehensible behaviour, why is it being suggested as some fault of hers? Where is the logic? Where did that country buck go to school?

What a low blow! Stinking Saint Lucians! Some of these POS claiming to be human beings have no damn stars? For them, any shit goes!

I would not underestimate Dr. Rigobert. She has greater legitimacy than those who may have only the intention of pulling her strings. I don't believe that she will let the women down.

She has gong before some sterling examples of female leadership for instance, Queen Elizabeth the First of England, who beheaded her cousin, then Golda Mier of Israel, Indira Ghandi of India, and currently, Angela Merkel of Germany.

I think it was 1:46 PM who correctly described UWP as a Den of Vipers.

Micah seem to have laid the scenario by which Chastanet would eject James from the “sure-to-win seat” of Micoud South ( in exchange for a Super Market, LOL) to get his foot into Government, which would be disastrous for the Island. The people of Soufriere having rejected that Saddam Chastanet it would be treasonous if the people of Micoud misappropriated their rights to vote that way.

Anonymous said...

All Micah has done is to be devious by suggesting that A James was not elected to replace King and giving suggestions as to why in a very cynical way, hoping that some of his semi-literate readers would use what he said as fact and repeat it.
Any educated journalist would have contacted Mr. james and ask him whether he was interested in the position and publish his answer instead of the rubbish he produced from his semi-intelligent brain.
But then,in ST.lucia you do not have to be intelligent, educated, trained in journalism to any degree to be the editor of The Voice Newspaper.

obviously the blogger above either has no idea of what's going on or is so myopic that he/she can't see beyond his/her nose.

Time and again i have warned bloggers about attacking journalists simply because they do not agree with what a journalist writes.

what Mr. george has written is a clear understanding of the politcal table as it pertains to Allen Chastenet.

There is no need to ask Arsene James anything for one simple reason, he has already answer that question on HTS last year when speculations were rift about how would allen enter parliament.

what George has presented is a correct reading of the political tea leaves.

so dear blogger above your language simply shows your level of education and maturity. why don't you present another reading of the politcal tea leaves as it pertains to the allen chastenet.

i.m waiting for your educated response. and please keep it clean. show your maturity and level of education.

Anonymous said...

i agree with the blogger above. micah has presented an accurate picture of the political tea leaves as its stands now.

granted things could change, in that soimeone could die and hence a seay becomes available. however in the absence of that, as things now stand, chastenet has no seat and for crying out loud the safest seat right now is the one held by arsene james.

by the way this arsene james/allen chastanet scenario has been widely speculated on throughout the media including on both HTS and DBS. so why is blogger 18 singling out micah.

when the same thing is mentioned on HTS or DBS it is all well and good but when micah writes it in the voice he is uneducated and unintelligent.

what the heck is wrong with some of my people. blogger 18 stop your foolishness. you are indeed foolish, beyond measure. let us hear your readings on the political tea leaves as it pertains to chastanet and james. i am waiting

A latrine patrol is recommended - if not for the popular vulgar usage of the S* word associated with the bio byproduct of the Alimentary canal. The demand for "maturity" by bloggers who yearn for meaningful online conversations at a most crucial juncture in national "scaffolding" is an imperative that ought to be regarded with serious optimism.

The foundation of democratic discourse is not a museum relic enshrined in Socratic "Corinthian" Columns.
Real "DEmocracy" is akin to an inner life force that is alive , vital, transcendental as it spans bridges across all forms of motivational milieu.
The great educator-politician Thomas Jefferson modeled anticipatory hind & foresight in crafting the framework of the futuristic US Constitution as a "Living document.
The 'Aortic Valve " in the life force of a true democracy protects and liberates the voice of the political minority from real or imagined "persecutory anxiety" .
The Socratic method was a successful model for the infancy of democracy in the Greek city state because all other models of service to the state were in vogue with paramount success. The richest citizens also embodied the US. The echo of identity an intrinsic motivation was "I am for Athens" or as in that legendary last stand against a swarming Persian Army "We are for Sparta".
And how about W. Churchill as the swirling steel grey of technologically superior Panzer divisions, preluded by the indiscriminate wrath of screaming Stuka dive bombers, the mercilless carpet bombing of city leveled by Heinkel bombers and the potential air corridor supremacy of the messerchmit 109 fighter and the bitter debacle of Dunkirk and Doenitz U-Boat wolfpacks crippling materials supplies: In the face of this deadly calamity . he spat cigar juice ath superior 3rd Reich "England expects every (able bodied person-abridged for political correctness) to do their duty!- We shall fight everyehere - we shall never surrender. That is the essence of democracy at one of its "finest hour".
The days of Charismatic mud slinging political rabble rousers are dead. Fair Helen needs to encourage all of its knowledgeable fair minded free thinking citizens to participate on any level in the new era of political husbandry.

We should be discussing the potential merits of the new lady appointment rather than canvassing for petty human flaws.

If the lady can live up to her posted profile then she is the Effervescent "think- ad for Andrews Salts" elixir for what ails the gastro-intestinal ails of her party- NB ALL parties have been living way too high on the proverbial hog. Our current state of political distress calls for a lean, bold highly focused regimen -if not fiscal constraints. The educational sector aligns very well with nouveau mitigating changes and their consequential remedial mandates-
I am for Fair Helen- land of my buried ancestry who toiled this land that they love. I am for whoever is motivated to resuscitate this little corner of paradise -to the simple peace and joy of a together community. Our parents knew it-even when the national budget was a shocking near $100,000 (that's thousands not the millions it is today.
The new lady is a strategic/tactical appointee who can spur vigor and negotiate complexity with much construct validity on behalf of the citizens of St. Lucia. We must spread the Carpet of fresh petals in welcome while ushering a decent protracted honeymoon period-so that she "hits the ground running" confidently if not like a Marine.

I pray that she is freed from pressing parliamentary routines to pursue a cause that she can weigh in on or behoove others to follow or support: My tuppence hapney - Spearheading the educational movement to get GIRLS (kindergarten to junior college) focused on STEM studies (yeah-the matrix of science -technology and mathematics)
Why should she wait till perhaps she is a minister of education to pursue this mission.
As an educator her skills will remain sharpened even as she is giving more to the state- This is where the maturity of bipartisan relations can take root and develop.
The all or nothing syndrome of political service must die- yesterday!
The dominant party must find ways to share bipartisan national projects and amicable/mutual means of distributing the kudos amongst participants.
Gratuitous Pork barrel projects are not fiscally sound in a salad diet economy.
The STEM initiative for girls is a cultural infrastructure project with exponential dividends for the national economy. The best approach is to use all available talent to lead, cultivate and seed said project. This calls for bipartisan collaboration. Perhaps a lady on the SLP side and the opposition new lady appointee could jointly chair steering or oversight on said initiative.
Nuff said- later,'twill be greater

{As for the smearing duttie boys on the political blogs- I could still scramble an (aardvark FB-111c)on mop up latrine patrols :(

Alas, the poor dear has aligned her-self with questionable characters - characters described by the High Courts a liar; aligned herself with characters who knowingly, maliciously and viciously STOLE from the state treasury, ref. The Toxedo Affair; thereby depriving the state of much needed revenues for social services, infrastructure, et al.

This, sadly, is the group she has joined.

Dr. Rigobert must be commended for her courage for taking this high risk of failure to overturn a national culture of borbol that is endemic in BOTH the two main political parties, but much more so in the UWP.

She holds a higher moral ground than the leader of the Ministry responsible for being the principal mid-wife birthing the Tuxedo Affair, an entire Cabinet of the UWP, through a Cabinet Decision (based on, constitutionally-speaking, the Collective Responsibility of Cabinet) transferred wealth and treasure from the national purse to a fellow cabinet member.

The task ahead is going to be even more complicated and made much more daunting by the presence of a majority population that shows no sign of ever caring to read for continuous self-improvement and self-actualization, or to think for itself on an individual basis.

That is why, time and time again, members of the public simply vote robotically, according to household or family patterns, with absolutely no regard for the manifestos, the individual abilities of the candidates, or wider the national interest.

After going through the motions of casting a vote, individuals simply return to their respective political camps with high expectations of the returned favour, in the form of political crumbs or business contracts issued without the legal requisite public tendering, if their side won.

If their side lost, the bitterness of losing takes on all forms of negative social behaviour.

Throughout the pre- and post-independence periods, rogue political leaders have conditioned Saint Lucians to be dependent and become hordes of mendicant robotic peon foot-soldiers.

Those who want to rise above this prevailing climate of this, the soft bigotry of low expectations will leave. Those who can't will endure or swell the ranks of the working poor, or the underground economy of the narcotic industry.

Bravo, I couldn't say it any better. Short of dumping that lot into Jail, they got away with it by loosing an election.
The one who calls himself a Doctor has had a long history of malfeasance, and the Lawyer(who better was expected of him) is still walking the corridors of government, but couldn't escape the scrutiny of the U.S. State Dept. He too should be in Jail.

Gail needs to be helped with prayer, for courage and strength, in the face of opposition on both sides of the political divide. This struggle has nothing to do with Gender nor Party Politics but all to do with the survival of our poor Country.

The whole Country needs help, let not Labour think they got UWP where the want them. It is something you may never see, but in my distant Orbit, it would be nice to see both political parties put petty politics aside and work together to fix the cracks in the present management of the Country.

Thanks for the two postings of clarity above. My understanding is enriched, I will adjust my idealistic expectations as I continue to learn from the conversations.

The jagged canyons, basins, slippery slopes and arid badlands of southwest USA pale to the roguish drama of STlu politics. Alas, the pressing global scenario leaves little time for miraculous reform. How long can StLu postpone imposition of more severe austerity policies via IMF & other world bank agencies of financial relief.

More rigorous transparency and fluent rules of play need to be streamlined in all of the political playbooks (akin to credit worthiness / trust) or else the IMF and other vested financial relief agencies may impose their own more severe reforms agenda (akin to higher interest rates.
It is far better to cut our own tamarind whip than to have a universal caning chosen for us-in anticipation of the punitive economic lashings o'er the horizon.

Then, the St.Lucia political manuals and Constitution need a major diagnostic checkup, evaluation, alignment etc. (The Nice Lady atop the Morne can summon a QE1 war council format(commission) to sift through all the articles of law. She is going to need a Raleigh or Henry Morgan type freelancer to plunder the flaws that permit circumvention of political transparency in real time. ...New sanctions with teeth are needed(e.g.,revoking a license to run for any political office in the future.

Going forward, a Hague Court tribunal would best serve the polishing image of STlu to stave off the potential for harsher economic impingement from IMF et al.
The bad players can be induced with well crafted levels of immunity for their open verifiable testimony if not confessions. General pardons should also be considered if said international court hearing (crimes against the state)can signal a favorable economic relief package that supports the road to financial recovery whilst enhancing further positive development for St.Lucia. Said court deliberations will also earmark flaws / loopholes that need fixing. That would be the best payback scenario for their transgressions (Recall the plot of the movie 'The Dirty Dozen' with an outstanding performance from Telly Savales long before he switched character roles to star as Kojak on TV) This action movie demonstrates the premise of conditional pardon in return for vital services to the state.

I wish Dr Regobert the very best. I hope by the time elections is called that she would be firmly installed at the helm of the party. Given our history of slavery, colonialism and the ever lurking specter of racism, I am not about to make the mistake of entrusting the future of this country to the hands of a white man who speaks and quite possibly thinks in a foreign accent. Chastanet is arrogant, childish and elitist person and behaves in a rather condescending manner towards his black colleagues. Notice how he paternalistically pats them on the back in open view of the cameras? He has the power of money on his side and because of this the cowards of the party have chosen to kowtow to him. We cannot be blindly trusting of this man who prior to being appointed senator never socialized or fraternized in any black spots. He always inhabited the other side of the cordon-sanitaire. Now as we are seeking reparations for slavery are we going to entrust our patrimony in the hands of our erstwhile oppressors? Wake up black people!! Let us not forget the lessons of the past and thereby be condemned to repeating it.

Des:
How can any politician rally an electorate behind herself or himself, if she or he does not, or seemingly have the majority support of any constituency in the country?

The UWP, by willfully selecting an unseated person as party leader, has sown its own seeds of internal discord and disharmony, by disrespectfully marginalizing the hallowed institution, namely, the people's parliament.

A political leader may or may not make the headlines. Utterings may or may not get any attention in the press.

The HANSARD, in contrast, records every word or half sentence of the Leader of the Opposition in the parliament for posterity.

Besides, our constitution recognizes and legitimizes the office of the Leader of the Opposition.

One would hope that Dr. Rigobert quickly shows the same, or even better parliamentary skills as Sarah Flood did, with the latter's timely 'points of order' and 'points of information', to name a few. Dr. Rigobert will need to demonstrate command and control of the tools to reinforce her credibility and respect. We can expect our male chauvinists in and out parliament, to seek opportunities to exploit and expose any signs of weakness.

Anonymous said...

This woman -or the uwp for that matter - does not stand a chance against the SLP's well oiled machinery!

The disharmony and infighting in the UWP camp is nauseating, ad infinitum; to say the least.

Anonymous said...

The rag-tag team that Dr. Rigobert is now being asked to lead is a non-starter. She has to bring in a set of fresh faces, technically skilled, squeaky clean ethically speaking, and competent with some proven private sector achievements. Not background. Achievements. Now, that's a tall order.

She at present can rally some 40% of the electoral votes of core voter support. Can the calibre of candidates on the UWP slate with such new candidates, tapping say with an LPM type progressive faction, between now and election day secure an electoral victory? That is the question.

The new look Opposition is not a reality as yet. It will depend on the quality of people she is surrounded by and the degree of party support.

It still is not clear as yet what exactly the rank and file is thinking regarding this new development. An independent survey, anonymously responded to by card-carrying members, but with truthful responses might clear the air going forward.

Is Allen's UWP knocking on death's door?

The palace coup is complete, with the help of strong gravediggers. Oh, then where is Allen? He is nowhere to be found. Not for long, a source leaked. He is chilling out somewhere in Miami; he will some soon come back. I guess he is looking for the loads of money to pay for his promises. The convention staff, cheerleaders and delegates are not happy, still waiting for their money.

Listening to the news, only one lonely “poodle” is out there leading the charge. The other is the sour grapes chairman on my television screen without his make-up. Oh… will the new leader of the opposition (LOO), tom-girl, need a driver to make use of the jeep that she crucified Stephenson King for accepting from Kenny Anthony? “You know!” said a King supporter, insisting that I share the secret with her. She would not give up; only to drop another teaser on me: who will be the lucky one to escort LOO, tom-girl, at official functions! How is me, eh… you asking all these questions. I don’t know. Ask the village boys and girls.

Ah, ah… the real show in town was Stephenson King, on RealFM on Thursday morning. That was a real blockbuster, for real, people. In Creole, mind you. I only hope Allen can top that, wee mama! Did you listen to the show? I can’t wait for the Richard Frederick Show in the house of assembly (so he says), now that the bandits have taken down the King, mouth will open and story will jump out.

The hot soaps I want to know before the Richard Frederick Show is the Catherine Sealys Venezuelan connection. mi baga! No more moo-moo pills, its full disclosure from now on. United With Poison (UWP) and they shall become one in thine hand; high class hypocrisy has turned on the King. They promised and delivered a well executed plan for losing the 2011 general election. The whisky and champagne was flowing nonstop in Rodney Bay celebration with scorpions and leeches. I wonder for how long. There’s something called reverse osmosis. My three little birds tell me sit tight, it’s never over until the fat lady sings, and you know that eh no joke!

Now submission to the master, like the colonial days, is back in full force, I cannot wait to see the “LOO tom girl” submit to her UWP master Allen, and to Kenny in the House of Assembly. And, by the way, the United PAC and Women in Action (WIA) are under strict submission to leadership to stay away from Facebook and other social media, or else the whipping boy will spare no one. Yes, plantation rule is back again. PAC and WIA are annoyed, I am told. Hey, what can they do aside from Hollywood acting, right, as they painfully waiting the money! It is too late to jump ship. To do that is suicidal. The other way around is to continue the usual Friday fasting and praying.

Whooo, I am beginning to get hot flashes, now it’s time to cool off before I overheat. I am told as soon as the moo-moo pills run out, the bull dog will bite hard. The Richard Frederick Show will be on nationwide. After that, the ungrateful and sour grape losers from Allen's UWP will have to lick their wounds. They will find the going rough and may have to bury their heads in the sand.

The power struggle between Stephenson King and Chastanet reminds me of a similar one involving George Odlum and Allan Louisy.

These two late politicians had made promises to each other in the event that they were elected to power. It was claimed the Louisy would relinquish power to Odlum after six months of winning the election.

This did not happen and as a result all sorts of wild and terrible things happened.

The labour party was not united back then and and went on to lose the 1982 elections. The UWP have always been together and spoke with one voice.Led by the maverick sir John, who took no prisoners they kept their composure and carried themselves well in the political arena.

Oh how times have changed. Now it looks like it’s the turn of the Flambeaus to have a go at each other. The labour party under the leadership of the unassailable Dr. Kenny Anthony have kept things together. Since he became leader we’re not heard of any infighting or potential power struggles. He has been very influential in quashing any simmering discontents which may fester on the lungs of his party. Labour looks solid like never before.

The same cannot be said about the flambeaus. They have bitten the hand that once fed them. The one man who could have kept this uneasy alliance of men together under one banner have been oust. They have replaced him with a bully and a coward.A remorseless capitalist who don’t even know what day it is in St Lucia right now. This man is the worst of Lucian values passing off as the best. Where is he right now? Why hasn’t he come out to defend what he’s done?

This man does not believe in genuine political debate. If you DO NOT conform to Allan Chastanet’s narrow and twisted view of the world like all his hotel and supermarket employees have to do then you get done in. You are shown the door.Once you accept that you are dealing with a coward you have absolutely nothing to fear from them.
He does not have the guts to come out and defend himself -instead he sends his cohort Ezekiel to spew out his propaganda and hype Since he does not have the guts to defend himself against anybody. I think the sooner he is gone from St lucian public life the better. A house divided against itself cannot stand. If you cannot trust a man with little things, then surely you should not trust him in big things – to come.

No! No! No! That one was entrusted with a Ministry. What was done with it?

Money was spent money like a drunken sailor. A ministerial proxy consultancy was created for Dr. Kripple. To date no one has seen or heard of the Report being tabled in the parliament from this another chapter in UWP's squandamania.

A boxing promotion. Only the minister's name got any promotion out of it.

Then we got 'streamlining'. No doubt that was picked up from some textbook or lecture. Personally, the term meant sacking the lower-level employees from their already low-paying jobs!

Smart-ass politics means that one should return to the same constituents previously and recently fired and ask for their votes. Oui mamma! The wet behind the ears jackass politicians do not recognise that one employed family member on average feeds 5.71 dependent parents and school-age children.

To top this up, showing absolutely no testicular fortitude, there was the siding with other political bandits to leak money away from the Treasury by covering this up with a cabinet accord.

Little things? Many a little make a muckle.

Jackass politicians give us jackass politics. Jackass followers lap it up and still return to their vomit.

More importantly, is there a job description associated with the post, and does the document contain such factors or considerations? Is the document part of the constitution of Saint Lucia?

Smart-ass politics appears to have dictated the creation of this stupendously egregious anomaly of deliberately selecting the political leader of a party as someone who has no legitimate presence in the country's highest deliberative body, namely, the parliament.

It is both asinine and grossly disrespectful of one of the key and SUPREME NATIONAL institutions in the country.

Only politicians in diapers would ever countenance and accept this kind of lunacy. But then, only in Saint Lucia.

I am wondering what to read from this expression on Dr. Rigobert's face. Somehow, I get the feeling that Chastanet should not mess with, or try to cross swords with a lady bearing such an expression.
