Smart-ass politics appears to have dictated the creation of this stupendously egregious anomaly of deliberately selecting the political leader of a party as someone who has no legitimate presence in the country's highest deliberative body, namely, the parliament.

It is both asinine and grossly disrespectful of one of the key and SUPREME NATIONAL institutions in the country.

Only politicians in diapers would ever countenance and accept this kind of lunacy. But then, only in Saint Lucia.

Blogger@ 6:32 pm,given what you wrote,it is clear that you do not follow nor understand local, regional and international politics.
also,it is clear that you have not studied Public administration nor politics.
By the way, there are many examples right here in St.lucia where leaders from both parties for various lengths of time did not have a seat in parliament.
Ask Pat Brown,he might tell you the truth.
Lack of knowledge can make one look rather foolish, especially when one writes such rubbish, and then try to show that they are knowledgeable by giving foolish words of so called wisdom.

How very nice!!NOW Pat Brown ! Pat Brown is concerned about what happens in the UWP??What was this article that Pat wrote whilse Stevenson King was PM? To prove that he was there when Giraudy presented him to run? Nada!nil!0! Juast another subbtle ploy to discourage positive change in the UWP.By the way , where is the wrong when people democratically use their right for change??
Pat Brown the courtsy given to King, you SLP millibugs never gave Sir Julian, when you brought back 'Massa'.

Jackass @ 5:15 PM, it is one thing for a political leader to lose his seat and be forced out there in the wilderness, whilst someone else leads the party in government in the House. This can be either as PM or the LOO.

But it is quite another to choose to create a situation where the LOO endorsed by a constituency and not by a motley group of idiots creates a situation where there will always be tension between the two leaders. One is in the parliament as the LOO and the other the leader of vote-getting arm of the party who is without a damn seat. And by the way, that is one who has never ever tasted real power by winning a seat.

Idiot! Saint Lucia does not have a long tradition of parliamentary democracy. So why the hell do you think that the crap that goes on as the norm here is the standard?

For example, it was not until the LPM forced the government to follow standard procedure did we have a separate debate for the Estimates of Government Expenditure and one distinctly for the budget. Meanwhile, idiots like you calmly accepted in abysmally profound ignorance, all the wool that Compton was pulling over the eyes of Saint Lucians for over 30 god damn years.

Listen jackass, because crap is accepted and is fashionable, that does not make it right and look good for far-thinking people. You moron!

Blogger@ 5;15,Obviously you are a very confused individual.Do you read over what you write before you publish it?
One suggestion. After you have written(to the sane mind is pure nonsense)give it to anyone to read and i can assure you you will be asked,What are you trying to say?
By the way work on your higher level skills(Bloom's taxonomy).Oh,I forgot, without the competency of the lower level skills,it's highly unlikely you will have the required competence to master the higher level ones.
Go back to school, and this time use your time wisely.

I support this article and concur with Pat Brown of the Blind leading the Blind. Such utter disrespect for a politician who has won his seat at the polls on many occasions, has served in different government ministries and has gone on to become the Prime Minister of St. Lucia to be overthrown in a coup by his own colleagues and by those who cannot even win a seat. Compton was no fool when he hand picked King. It is so shameful what these johnny come lately can do to secure power. It is said that power corrupts and ultimate power corrupts ultimately. I am listening and watching from a distance the dirty politics in my country as it unfolds. What a UNITED Workers Party. Couldn't these power hungry individuals form their one party? - of course not, they are smarter than that - they prefer to ride on the back of something that is already established. What strikes me and is even more disheartening is that on one hand they say that there is no division in the party but on the other, goes on to terminate the employment of an entire administrative staff! So is Rigobert and Chastanet going to dismiss the entire management and administrative staff within the Public Service should they assume power, simply because they are suspicious that these people are not on their side? Such childish behaviour. In a country where the unemployment level is already so high persons are summarily dismissed because they supported a politician who has given his entire youth to the party he loves. The foreign political analyst who recently commented that what is happening in the UWP is healthy, I ask him to tell St Lucians what is healthy about the dismissal of staff. I am no UWP or Labour supporter but I have eyes to see what some people can condescend to because of ulterior motives. It is little wonder why crime will never cease.
