Robertson has gone through a hard and difficult childhood. His mother tried her best to help him to no avail. Robertson lost his eye whilst boxing in an effort to support himself as a child. He has not forgotten the truma and redicule that the lost of his eye caused him. He has grown to be an angry man not forgetting his violent and angry childhood days. This is a man who really needs help sending him to the wolves would only make him worst. Robertson needs serious counselling. Sending him to prison is not the answer. A public apology to Mr. De-beauville and the St. Lucian Public on all radio stations plus compensation to Mr. De-beauville in a substantial amount should be imposed on him.
Robertson needs our support and love in his darkest moments.

If at age fourty-eight Robertson cannot realize that neither I, nor Mr. De Beauville, nor any member of the public placed him in the position he was as a child, if after all these years, he STILL CHOOSES, to bottle anger, towards innocent people, then HE MUST LEARN to PAY for his choices through the punishment he truly deserves. This is not an isolated case. He bullies anyone and everyone. It is time we recognise when someone MUST be punished. That's why we have punishment. He has absolutely NO RESPECT FOR ANYONE. THAT IS THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT. And he must learn that this country called Saint Lucia, is not a jungle. At least not yet.If he is so hooked on his childhood why then he does not approach the right people in his own FAMILY.Hell, NO!This fourty-eight year old man, must now pay. He has caused enough hurt to too many people.HE MUST BE PUNISHED!Some of us always tend to put sympathy where it does not belong. Empathy and/or sympathy has its place and is based on the merit of each case. This is no case for sympathy to ROBERTSON. HE used to follow the dark precepts of GEORGE ODLUM, the HOODLUM phenomenon, and that did not do him any good. He chose this, not me, not Mr. De Beauville, not anyone. LET JUSTICE BE SEEN TO BE DONE, IN THIS WRETCHED PLACE CALLED SAINT LUCIA. THREE CHEERS FOR THE POLICE WHO HAVE MOVED SWIFTLY, AS THIS CASE JUSTLY DESERVES.LET SAINT LUCIANS STOP THE BLASTED HYPOCRISY!OR ELSE THEY WILL ALL BE SWALLOWED UP BY IT.

How about a bullet in his head?

I have worked with Robertson for the better part of my ten-year tenure as Editor of The Voice and find him to be an ambitious and dedicated writer; but one who seems to think that the world is against him. I have also worked with DeBeauville who is of a much quieter disposition and less aggressive, who, it would be safe to say, would not initiate a physical confrontation with anyone.

I am not privy to the circumstances surrounding the incident but, I asked, does the fact that DeBeauville is now The Sports Editor and Robertson is not have anything to do with what seems, on the surface, to be a rather emotional and irrational act. Maybe the world did certainly collapse on Robertson that day.

But I find it quite odd that a media personality and the PS in the Ministry of Sports would pass judement on the individual so quickly. The PS of sports was certainly out of his league when, in his own judgement pronounced Robertson guilty and ban him for activities associated with the Ministry. The Ministry my dear PS is a public entity not a private enterprise and you are not endowed with the authority or power to ban anyone from participating in a public activity, especially when that infividual has not received his day in court. Until then, it would be fair to say, in spite of or despite of what you witnessed, that a man is assumed to be innocent until he pleads guilty or is proven guilty. I'm sure you would agree.

Regardless of what one may think about Robertson's attitude and general behaviour, the Editor's comment is particularly fair and proper. Justice must be open to all.If the Permanent Secretary said what was reported he is wrong. This really points to the numerous round pegs in square holes in Saint Lucia. These folks get a piece of formal paper from some academic institution, but do not possess even the most mundane things--such as good old discretion. They have no thoughts of their own. They can't think, farless solve problems. In fact, they aggravate problems, all the time. And you folks wonder why Saint Lucia is in such DOO-DOO?
