Thank you. As a Trini I too am saddened by Canaval's plight. Even with well intentioned governmental interventions the trend remains doing as little as possible locally, and finding ways to send most work to the East.I have not had the privilege of attending your Carnival but I must say that for a people of limited resources in the Caribbean we should see Carnival as our god given gift to the world - we must protect it and keep it true. Nottinghill, Labor Day, and Caribana still are no comparison to a TRUE CARIBBEAN CANAVAL - YET. For the future we must then find ways to be able to always benefit from any West Indian themed carnival any where. Part of that is getting our 10 million inhabitants and our vast diaspora with their attendant world carnivals to desire the true Carnival accoutrements. Carnival Made in the Caribbean must become a trademark. Champagne from Champagne, Fr. Kurt
I remember last year the leader of Ritual band boasting how his band is very creative and is not in that bikini and bra carnival. I was looking forward in seeing the creativity of that band this year. Only to be very shocked to see the band this year, the same bikini and bra. I also heard that same leader complaining about the calypsos this year, how bias.
Carnival this year was crap! This business of refusing to play songs because they were considered 'obscene' is nonsense when the very children those moralists were trying to protect were witnessing 'dry sex' between practically naked men and women, and women and women, in the streets. What hypocisy! I also heard to leader of the Red Band say on the Radio one day that after the first three bands paraded, Xss Energy, Red whatever, and Just for fun, the carnival was done, there was nothing more to watch. It seems to me what transpired was quite contrary to his opinion. The bands after just for fun were a bit more palatable!Thank you!

so true. And those important costume bands have the most hype and young people.
