These figures are astounding; 85% etoh use and about 90% marijuana use by age 15 among secondary school students. I find it hard to fathom these numbers even though I do believe that it is a problem in our schools and society. I challenge this paper and the NATDIN to make the findings of this study available for analysis. I stongly believe that these numbers (particulary for marijuana use) are misleading. I understanding the need to instill fear in the country, but to insult the "intellects in making" in our schools is an abomination. Let me make it abundantly clear; I do believe that drug use is a problem in our schools and society, but these numbers are beyond exageration. It may be plausible to concieve in the context of etoh use, but marijauna??? If the author of the article had stated that among the few students questioned (a minute representation of all students), those were the findings. But to conclude that it is applicable to all students is absurd. I am a past student of St Mary's college, and though it has been over 10 yrs since I walked through its doors, I am insulted by those accusations, as I do believe most if not all students present and past of other schools are.
I implore again the author and the proposer of this information to bring clarity to this matter. This is our country's future that is being tainted.
