Targeted Killings

Getting guns of the street and forced searches of suspect homes is the answer. We need to become proactive. You don't wait for a man to target another person and kill them, then say there is nothing I could do. In fighting crime some liberties will be lost. It's all for the security of the country.

Go knock down those doors and take them to jail before their strike. Find them in the streets, search them, and get their butts into a jail cell.

The best strategy to fighting crime is preventing crime which can only be accomplished by police presence. Cops on the beat is still as effective as it was many moons ago. Constant police presence in the hotbed areas will reduce the incidence of crime in these areas.

Someone already made the point that civilians can perform the immigration duties at the ports of entry so that we can free more passport stampers to go on the beat.
I am quite sure the police high command knows these fundamentals of crime fighting, but the question is how much are they able to do in this regard in the light of budgetary constraints.

All fishing boats must undergo some sort of inspection upon arrival on shore. They must be searched by undercover police unknown to the fishers.

The unannounced raids at the houses of known drug kingpins and the usual suspects. The unannounced road blocks at randon intersections well cordoned off by well armed police and SSU.

The gun buy back program needs to be reinstated. Instituting rewards for tips that lead to the apprehension of perpetrators of crimes. That fund must come from the private sector as well as from a small government subvention, and well meaning persons.

The C.O.P has already alluded to the fact that the justice system must work hand in glove with the police. Too many cases go to waste by sloppy prosecution, and those that languish in the system due to lack of zeal, expertise, and other factors.

St. Lucia cannot wait for the political directorate and the police high command as well as all well meaning St. Lucians to get serious about crime. It is a categorical imperative.

The cops and government can do whatever they think necessary however we need to get to the root of the problem which is the home. School in St Lucia is free yet still parents cant get their kids to go to school. As a matter of fact parents these days can't even control their kids much less have a positive influence. When mummy can't get Joe to conform what do you think will happen. I think we need to start from the parents doing their part and stop blaming everything else. A child was not born a criminal but turns into one when ignored.Lets take back our country from the kids in infant and primary schools, bring back theh red cross groups, cub scouts, cadets, drug free groups. Lets form the kids from early, parents we need your help.

First comment is communist. Hitler did the same.

Hangings in the public square is the better idea.

Criminals will NEVER break into a house where they know the homeowner had a gun cause they are scared to death of being shot. So guns are not the problem, morals or the lack of are the problem. Let the hangings begin cause all criminals are scared little sissies.

You sound like you're frozen in time, FYI we don't do hanging anymore, thou shall not kill and it doesn't matter if it is the government, we just don't do it.

Commissione, tell us something we don't already know. The problem is you, during your tenure as Police bos, you have allowed crime to excalate. And, the best decidsion the country or you UWP buddies could do is to replace you and your "brass ring" ASAP. You have failed the people of St. Lucia. Just like you boss the Minister of Home Affairs, Guy Mayers "square-peg-in-round-hole" you don't have a clue. You police officers keep shooting innocent citizens and can't apprehend the real criminals. Five homicides in the first month of 2010, and the Minister calls for a 50% reduction in crime on the island. Judging by the happening we should reach that quota by the end of April or maybe before that...then what?
You need to take it on your own and turn in your resignation...find another profession. From what I am hearing some of the hotel are advertising "Chief of Security" openings. I bet they won't hire you though...but give it a short>

I hear Richard should not have a gun since he has been charged with indiscriminately discharging of a weapon. The Privy Council case in which a family won him three times for shooting their son. Tackle that crime from high above. You already know who the chief crook and bottle washer is. The kinpin from Central. Tell him there is a new sherrif in town.
