With so many political sages in the UWP it is astonishing that they have ostensibly failed to analyze the current political environment to recognize that the next election will be fought at the constituency level. For this reason every effort should be made to facilitate candidate selection by popular vote within the constituency, Soufriere is a clear example. The next general election, constitutionally due in December of 2011, is going to be very different from 1997 and 2006 when the leadership of the main parties was the deciding factor: The current leaders of the political parties are unlikely to positively influence the election chances of their respective parliamentary hopeful colleagues. It is for this reason the executive of the UWP should favour and listen to the voice of the people and the constituency, branch in Soufriere...the will the ones voting, not the special interest and the selection process by section of the party. This process is certain to cause unrest and encourage accusations of elitism among the grass-roots in the party, as is already the case in Soufriere/ Fond St.Jacques. The efforts of the Soufriere Foundation and its petty business class operatives have better think again. They should understand that for the past three elections, they have not been able to win an electoral box much less convince they employees and others to support the party. The final outcome of general elections in our deeply entrenched two- party political system will be determined by the floating voters. This group will only vote for change if the prospect of change is exciting and promising as it was back in 1997 and to a lesser extent 2006.
T-Chas is divisive and a force feed with a bad taste, coming to Soufriere. Think again not a chance, we which you well at the springs there are plenty of seats there---enjoy the bath.
Soufriere, Barons Drive and the Pitons development is the begining of the revolution...We must stop the wholesale selling of our heritage....this is shameful, in the name of development for the benefit of real estate agents & brokers, insurance agents and lawyers. Be careful silence is golden....
We the citizens of Soufriere will never elect any outsider as our MP, has never happen and not, T-Chas and Tom Chou along with Soufriere Development Foundation can come with ALL the cash, speed boat ride and snake oil sales tricks,,,we will listen, eat, drink have a good time and not vote..UWP......Politicians are to silly,,,they only pretend to listen for 2 reasons ---Votes and Money
Isn't it strange that the smaller teh country the more insular its people can become? Isn't it enough for Dr. Long or T-Chass to be a born and bred, highly qualified, Saint Lucians with a genuine desire to represent their fellow Saint Lucians? Must we now impose another qualification that they must be born in a particular part of Saint Lucia to be able represent the people who live there? What next? Are we going to say to Butch Stewart that he should move his hotels to Jamaica because he is not a Saint Lucian? Are we going to insist that jobs in Soufriere should be held only by Soufrierans? Am I going to be be denied a drink of water at a standpipe in Sourfriere because I'm from Dennery? It's time for us to stop this foolishness. Let's grow up!
WHATEVER! But base your decisions not on whether or not he is from Soufriere but rather on his character, his commitment and on the merits of his plans for the constituency.
What plans, there are basic services that is reguired by any Gov for its citizen.& this Gov has not delivered.now and only now T.Chas wants to play superman.list his plans and list what has tourism and develepment done to the benefit of sustainable development and employment in Soufriere..now be pratical and sensible I am from Soufriere..i live there.
No matter how you dice the situation there are advantages being from the area.
This does not mean that T Chas is can't win. It just means he would have to work double hard and his game better be good. Or as they say it....he finish.
I get u, but the LMP could drop a wench in there...there are UWP'S scouting the situation very hard, there not happy with the party. A good UWP in the town, may just settle the score. Stay tune.
Anyone who tries to fast-talk (or sweet-talk) you by using surface blather or meaningless chatter had better be prepared, because it just doesn t work this time.

Soufriere will not be a backup to have T-Chas as PM in case PM King lose his seat or in case the super 8 get him out SOON.

So LPM is gearing up to hold the balance of power in Soufriere? Boy this fight between TChas is interesting.
T Chas will win, he is a progressive man.
I, was born in Fair Helen and proud of it.
