Soufriere and Soufriereians have no intension of returning to it’s colonial past of Monarchy, as bad as things are. For generations the town of Soufriere has been treated as personal property of the visible minority and selected upper classes. The current antics and symbolic gestures engulfing Soufriere is due in part to political interest for elected office, personal business and foreign interest, by the elite business class, funded by foreign interest and its agents. These motives are short term with no sustainable economic value to the people of Soufriere and will not trick of treat us, we are very politically savy.

Time has change and enough is enough. We the sovereign people of Soufriere require a fresh start, fresh minds, new ideas, inspiring personalities, and new opportunities lead by persons of our choosing, born, raised and representative of our unique diversity. We have identified such persons and the party elite and political class continues to ignore our request. Fortunately, all politics is local and Mr. Allen Chastanet does not represent us, neither is he permitted to communicate on behalf of Soufriere and Soufriereians. Actually, Mr. Allen Chastanet represents the very problem we are consistently attempting to dissociate from. Honestly, Mr. Allen Chastanet need to imput into his brain cells that he is not of us, by us, or, for us in any way shape of form. Democracy is of the people, by the people and for the people.

Mr. Allen Chastanet represents the special interest, the family class, foreign interest groups and their balance sheet. The propose imposition of Mr. Allen Chastanet in the Electorial District of Soufriere has ignited the Socialist Conservative and confirm our very concerns of entitlement, and aristocracy which alludes to Soufriere’s historical monarchy and the return of authoritarian rule. We the sovereign people of Soufriere will continue to be resolute and in defiance of the top down autocratic tendency of clientelism and power politics of segments of this Government.

Sadly, our political Party has not learned and continues to be in decline guided by the council of family class, and internal petty bourgeoisie. Irrespective of the probability of rebranding and repackaging Mr. Allen Chastanet as a politician, his persona tells the story. The era of weekend politicians, holiday politicians and plantocracy political agents is over.

We are fired up and ready to go.

With so many political sages in the UWP it is astonishing that they have ostensibly failed to analyze the current political environment to recognize that the next election will be fought at the constituency level. For this reason every effort should be made to facilitate candidate selection by popular vote within the constituency, Soufriere is a clear example.

The next general election, constitutionally due in December of 2011, is going to be very different from 1997 and 2006 when the leadership of the main parties was the deciding factor:

The current leaders of the political parties are unlikely to positively influence the election chances of their respective parliamentary hopeful colleagues.

It is for this reason the executive of the UWP should favour and listen to the voice of the people and the constituency, branch in Soufriere...the will the ones voting, not the special interest and
the selection process by section of the party. This process is certain to cause unrest and encourage accusations of elitism among the grass-roots in the party, as is already the case in Soufriere/ Fond St.Jacques. The efforts of the Soufriere Foundation and its petty business class operatives have better think again. They should understand that for the past three elections, they have not been able to win an electoral box much less convince they employees and others to support the party.

The final outcome of general elections in our deeply entrenched two- party political system will be determined by the floating voters. This group will only vote for change if the prospect of change is exciting and promising as it was back in 1997 and to a lesser extent 2006.

T-Chas is divisive and a force feed with a bad taste, coming to Soufriere. Think again not a chance, we which you well at the springs there are plenty of seats there---enjoy the bath.

Senator Chastanet bid to running for the Soufriere constituency is political suicide. T-Chas and Tom Chou along with the Soufriere Development Foundation have no idea of the moles within their ranks. There is a big surprise on the horizon- stay tune.
