Who is bearing the costs of that jet coming to St Lucia just to pick up Chastanet and his co-horts, for this, I am sure, jolly ride, that will, in the end, be fruitless?

Secondly, the word, "oriental/s" is as offensive to the people of Asia, as the words, "negro, nigger" are to people of coloured.

Be respectful, please...

How you know it will be fruitless?? why not have faith that we are looking into another market.Central and South America. Instead of the same places every day. These is good news in light of America upgrading JFK to 4wkly and Jetblue upgrading JFK to 5wkly. Also Delta upgrading ATL to 10 weekly. And American switching from the 737 to 757 on the MIA route 10/11 weekly. Good news for us. Hope this can continue and one day for COPA to fly daily.

I am not advocating fruitlessness of that jolly ride by Chastanet. In fact, I am HOPING, as you are as well, that something positive may come out of this. My contention is, why is a jet flying here to pick him up and who is bearing the cost of that journey.

I also arrived at the conclusion that nothing will come out of this prancing around, based on hitherto missions as this one, where, upon returning to St Lucia, nothing was said, produced, implemented - mission simply forgotten (and tax payers were left footing the bills).

We want/need ACTIONS and RESULTS. Not a whole bunch of fanfare and prancing around.

"Faith"...are you out of your mind? You actually want people to have "faith" in the likes of Mondesir, Richard Frederick, Chastanet, Rufus Bosquet, the AG, Guy Joseph!!

At least the Prime Minister is a good man, but the poor guy is clueless and is surrounded by Vultures and Hyenas.

Your rights to have faith till dooms day in the aforementioned...sorry I will not!

Chastanet, the man is doing a good job. Watch how many carriers have come to St. Lucia or increased services to the island. Hate on him as much as you'll we like. Give credit where it's due.

@ Anonymous 1 - By the way "people of colour" is also an offensive term.

I hope, getting direct airlift from South America, though it will open up trade routes, doesn't open up more drug routes.

For once I agree with Kenny that we should get more in touch with our French side, remember we will always be half French and half British, we are very different than the other Islands, you know.

Bonjours la Martinique et la Guadeloupe.

Sounds loke Chastinet wrote this story himself. A little too much praise from the writer.

if you want to "get in touch with your french side" just be rude to everyone for no reason. Thats pretty french!

We can’t manage our internal security needs and control the underground economy that’s keeping St.Lucia alive, now we are,,,,i suppose attempting to boost the economy Latin and south American style,, I guess we all know the Island is in Big Trouble, moving into dangerous territory.

Who are the benefactors?????????? Smooth, Gibberish Talkers, Frequent Flyers, and Deficit Spenders

And the Losers: The St.Lucia taxpayers.

St. Lucians are so Ignorant. It's sad. While Barbados is getting flights from South America, St. Lucia stays backwards because of people like the poster above.

Anonymous said...

No, you got that so wrong, the "poster above" as you put it, is not ignorant, but rather a thinker to not be short sighted, but to 'THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX' and to have arrived at a logical conclusion, about this whole 'fishy' thing. Any child of infant ability would agree with him, but you, alas!

I agree with you sir/madam for your obvious insight about "INCREASING OUR AIRLIFT"...

If this flight goes through, would it be landing at Hewanorra or at GFL?

Our national debts will continue to increase more and more because we do not have our priorities set right.

Just read on the other newspapaer that St Lucia has introduced the lastest BMW models. Yes, St Lucia!! Our childrend and grand children of 50 years from now, sadly, will have the burden to carry and pay that debts/sillyness.

Of course, I realise there is a drop who can afford these luxuries, I do not deny them the fruits of their hard labour (I am not here talking about regular St Lucian like me, but those expats, foreign citizens with, perhaps, old money), because no regular St Lucian can afford these BMWs, et al, unless, the factor running St Lucia - "underground economy". But for heaven's sake, for all what's happening right here in St Lucia, and beyond, a newspaper see fit to have this article as prime news!!

Stop hating on Saint Lucia, y'all r full of hatred, please go get some help.

Anonymous said...

Get help, right, only because you cannot see the twig in your/our eyes. Incredible!!

No one is hating here. We are all trying to understand and decipher what is going on here for the betterment of us all: ST LUCIA. Is that too much asking?

What help do you recommend for people who objectively critiques as opposed to those (like you), who hurls insults at others making valid contributions.

We should all debate constructively...even you, try it...

You are obviously not Saint Lucian, so please don't piss us off cuz we can flip in a split second from joyful British to a pissed-off French man. Only then you'll understand our duality.

The person who talking about BMWs maybe not in St. Lucia because believe me is not only the rich driving them now eh. People you would not even think driving them together with audi's etc.
