st lucia needs more children in or out of so called marriage. In fact it is practically impossible biologically to have children without marriage. WE NEED TO OFFSET THE DOWNWARD SLIDE IN OUR POPULATION WHICH WILL BE SEEN A FEW YEARS FROM NOW Hulla
You have stayed away from the most damning evidence with regard to the destructive effect of the absence of the father in the family.
The empirical evidence shows that the absence of marriage, and the failure to form and maintain intact families plus the absence of the father are largely to explain the high incidence of crime. In the United States the rise in violent crime parallels the rise in families abandoned by fathers. High levels of crime in African American society is paralleled by high rates of illegitimacy.
Politicians throughout the Caribbean have continued the failed policies of spending money they do not have, on dealing with crime, drugs and guns . The reality is that the MAIN CAUSE of crime in the Caribbean as in American black ghettos is the absence of the father in the family.
Unfurtunately our academics perpetuate this fraud by indulging our permissiveness by promoting the single mother family as "we ting" in black families as a result of our slavery background. These academics are only indulging their egos while helping to keep our women in servitude.
For the blogger who said that " we need more children in or out of so called marriage."
Unfortunately this attitude perpetuates the downward slide in our societies since it is precisely BECAUSE we have children OUTSIDE of marriage that we have such high degrees of dysfunction in the Caribbean. The absence of the father in the family is the most significant cause of crime and bad behaviour in our young men and women. The research has proven this.
It is good to want to have more children but if we keep on producing children prone to criminal behaviour, quick to engage in sexual relations by the age of 12 and uneducated then what good is that for our society.
