you guys are quick to dismiss Labour crowds....remember "paint the city red?", where over 20,000 was reported on site as well.Today you guys boast of a crowd in Vieux Fort. I am extremely happy, this just goes to show that democracy is alive and well in Lucia. This election is going to be close and without a doubt very interesting

Boy Flambeau don't look like it is about to give up. I won't be suprise if they win again. I thought by now SLP would mash them up.

Anonymous said...

No one. Unlike King, Kenny does not need to be in government to have a Job.

Are you forgetting how qualified Kenny Anthony is?

You statement is laughable.

bogger 1-4 you must be an octupus. I see your hand in every one of these blogs.

The Voice should say when these articles are Party press releases.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PAINT THE CITY RED AND THIS CROWD IS THAT YOU HAVE PERSONS WHO CAN VOTE AND NOT KIDS WHO WERE BUSED IN TO PAINT THE CITY RED LOL. I ENJOY WATCHING THE TWO SIDES BATTLE AND I THINK ITS FUN. I HAVE BEEN ANALYZING THE TWO AND I THINK LABOUR TALKS TOO MUCH. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN BAFFLED AT THE WAY FLAMBEAUS STAY UNDER THE RADAR AWAY FROM THE VERBAL WARS WITH LAOUR HOWEVER WHEN THE LINES ARE DRAWN THEY DO COME OUT FROM ALL CORNERS WITH GUNS BLAZING. OH GOD I LOVE POLITICS HAHAHAHA

This is a big bounce back for King and the UWP.

Those corrupt and incompetent UWPs and their party hacks do not deserve to be relected.

Those incompetent and corrupt SLPs and their party hacks do not deserve to be elected.

How many timmes and ways do you need to say it.

Anonymous said...

I was there on Sunday and boy that made my head hurt. I can't believe that number of people that showed up. Could you believe that such a party as the UWP have people following them. Boy, or boy, god put a hand.

Anonymous said...

Is this a UWP press release? Why was the author name left out? I'm confused. Can the editor please elaborate?

Anonymous said...

That crowd was there because of three things:
1.At Bois Den Jacmel Richie was giving people $100.00 each to go to Vf. Scartie was paid $200.00
2. People wer promised chicken and rum and they got it
3. There were more labour supporters in the crowd

So flambeau dont be fooled by this.Think of what Marcus has done to the party

Anonymous said...

Choops. The fellas had a massive crowd. Just admit that and move on.

Sorry UWP several slp supporters took your money, boarded your buses and laughed at you in the end...he who laughs last laughs the best...it's SLP turn to laugh because we took the money you offered us, we consumed your rum and chicken and yes we disguised ourselves with yellow t-shirts but wait for your outcome at election day.

Stephenson King, we must eat too so when you go around asking us "what we want or how you can help us you bet you will get an answer to make you feel good.

The smart people of this country know very well that if we vote you guys in power again you will do the same thing--wait for another 4 1/2 years for rum and food, and small 2-day community projects. We need long term projects that translate into gainful employment for a long time. We know that King and his hierarchy are the ones benefiting from the Taiwanese millions.

King Garcon see you at your office soon. There are a bunch of us doing what we have to do to eat. Sorry for the betrayal but you betrayed first!

a bunch of crap and persons maybe who needs to know what overseas iike and their whole attitude and mentality abut party and their country will change.
The united workers party under compton and this one under king is way different.
Why should i follow a party whose leadership is not up to par
Why should i follow a party if the leadership does not have a vision for the country, but runs as a medicrity.
Why do i have to think of myself and not the vast amount of young people who are out of work as well as persons who cannot make ends meet.
Leadership matters in every area and aspect of life.
Some are like wheelbarrow that needs a push.
Do i have aparty that loves the people.
Does the leadership loves the people of st lucia
These are pertinent question for the UNITED WRECKERS OF THE POOR

You know i was expecting a barrage of labour party criticism however all i am getting is lame defeated rhetoric from labour supporters who seem to have conceded that a labour victory is far from a walk in the park. Crowds dont win elections however if i were labour i would have some concerns about my strategy. ZOR WEI JHORN ZOR PWEN PUR BEER.......And that blah blah crap about i took your money and disguise ourselves as your supporters. i think you should just take some tissue go share some tars and get some sleep.

We are coming to march you guys out when King calls the election. A whole bunch of us are taking your money, and none of you can STOP that. We have made a couple of thousands from King and company but uwp has not been able to guarantee us that we can be sustained longer than six months.

All I can say is let's wait for the election to hear the results. Yes, I will take the money even at the door of the voting booth but LABOUR is getting my vote because I eh no FOOL.

Don't be misled by the massive crowd. These folks are there to enjoy their chicken and rum. None of these candidates are capable of winning any election. All three are totally incompetent. What a shame! It's like any Tom, Dick, Harry or Mary can run for political office in St. Lucia. We already have a bunch of "square pegs in round holes. We do not need any more.

My fellow st lucians this Elections should not be about party, But about the fture of my children, Future of my Country and its direction the next five years.

We need to sreen carefully the candidates and their background, and who is best qualified to leadst lucia,
This leadership here should not be like a popularity contest show, where you stand and pose for posing sake.
Its about our bread and butter issues.
Who will be best qualified, Domestic,Round the caribbean, and the international world.
Now in order for st lucia to compete we need men with vision, the Educational Background, and the experience to lead

If i have been following a party and they have not live to the expectation, then why should i follow them.
This should not be about party, But Rather about The future of my country,my children, and what kind of policy does the party have to make life better for me and everyone.
We need to stop this foolish maypwe and talk sence for st lucia sake.
Let us look at the present goverment, Promises made, Kept and broken. Their stewardship the almost five years.
The labour party under kenny During his tenure as prime minister and see which of the party did well for st lucia.
Which party did the most and advance the cause of st lucia better, Domestic, the caribbean, and Internationally.
Forget about party and what negative being portray about someone, Just look at their record and let it speak for itself.
In 2006 wasn't it a mistake by us to have elected an 83 year old man.
Please am begging for the sake of our children and our future in st lucia, Let us put on our thinking cap and THINK< THINK< THINK, so as to do what is right.

Government must ‘get radical on crime’ – St Lucia Catholic paper - Apr 10
2011 - Caribbean Church News

Saturday, 09 April 2011 21:48
St Lucia’s Catholic Chronicle has called on the island’s government to get tough on crime.

In a recent editorial titled “Get Radical On Crime”, the monthly said “the nation is totally exasperated over the random shootings, gang warfare and seemingly uncontrollable escalation of crime in this country.”

It described Prime Minister Stephenson King’s “Six Point” response to the increasing incidence of murder and violence as “lame”, adding: “More support for the police, better hardware, more officers on the ground, cooperation with the USA and Israel on intelligence, a hotline in Miami, all sound like “If they will work now, why were they not done before?”

The paper said the nation’s leadership “seem to have no answers that can generate confidence in the public” and that the crime situation is bigger than any political party or government. Not mincing words, the Chronicle editorial said responsible persons should “stop playing games, blaming this one for being soft on crime, or that one for doing nothing, as if they had the answers.

“We all know the problem is massive and the least that can be done is to be radical about it. Stop playing games. Get down to the root. Somebody knows who are the untouchables, the unmentionables profiting from the blood of others.

“It may take the concerted effort of government, opposition, civil society to do it, but it must be done.”

Lets face it Leadership matters, When a country or an island has good leaders Their nations Thrive and its citizens prosper.
Planning in every phase of life is good, If the leader does not have or a good planner, What happens to him, He will be like a wheelbarrow that needs pushing.he does not move nor the country or people he leads move,
IT IS SAID" THAT HE WHO FAIL TO PLAN< WILL PLAN TO FAIL

Did the IMF and more so than the ECCB say that St. Lucia is on path that will ERADICATE the UNEMPLOYMENT and POVERTY in St. Lucia? If so, please quote the person and the document.

I am not interested in crowds from whichever party. I am interested in removing any doubt that EACH INDIVIDUAL going up for office has a VERY CLEAR IDEA of what his party is about to do NEXT TIME AROUND, to remove the scourges of UNEMPLOYMENT and POVERTY.

You make your bed. You will have to lie on it.

St. Lucians appear to be very dumb about what they should be thinking when it is election time. They let the rum do the thinking and talking for them.

I am NOT interested in 'rent a crowd politics', chicken legs and rum, nor $100 now, and FIVE years later find myself sucking salt. If St. Lucians put more idiats in government again, OECS there I go!

Anonymous said...

Stop beating around the bush, lets us say it straight. "It was a big mistake for St Lucians to let the bias media like Juke bois, Rick, T Poleon, Jeff Fedee etc confuse them to vote the UWP into office. We all can see the results of it now. All the substainable development began by Kenny and the SLP have stopped. All we have going on in the country now is semi literate ministers enriching themselves, creating scandals after scandals, trying to fool the people with some last minute measly hand to mouth projects, confussion within the government, PM telling lies after lies, whiles unemployment, crime and all the social ills are skyrocketing.

I strongly believe St Lucian have learned their lesson, and they will never make that mistake again. Imagine all these clueless gang like Guy Joseph, Assin James, Astaphane, Tucker, Easikiel, Mondesir, Chastanet, King, Mayers, Doddy, Frederick, Spida etc are ministers. Only in st Lucia that could happen. I know some people will want to challenge me, but prove me wrong, point to us a positive policy that came out from these incompetent gang that had any improvement impact on St Lucia. Amen.

CRIME: Crime, including armed robbery, does occur and is rising in St. Lucia. Violent crime is often connected to narcotics trafficking. Petty crime also occurs, with tourists being targeted often. Efforts by the St. Lucian authorities to improve public safety on the island are ongoing. Visitors should inquire about their hotel’s security arrangements before making reservations. Valuables left unattended on beaches and in rental cars are vulnerable to theft. Visitors should use caution, especially at night and in less frequented areas.

St. Lucia could use help from T.O. cops – Minister
http://www.sharenews.com

By RON FANFAIR

Concerned about the sharp spiral in violent crime in St. Lucia, the island's law enforcement administrators say they are open to any assistance they can get from global law enforcement agencies, including the Toronto Police Service (TPS).

That country's Minister of Home Affairs and National Security Guy Mayers and Acting Police Commissioner Vernon Francois met with Acting Chief Peter Sloly.
They were in Toronto for the St. Lucia Association of Toronto's (SLAT) annual banquet marking the island's 32nd independence anniversary. Mayers was the keynote speaker at last Saturday night's event which Sloly attended.

St. Lucia, which has a population of about 165,000, has recorded 18 murders in the first two months of the year. Last year's total of 48 was the highest since the island secured its independence on February 22, 1979.

"We want to build a relationship with Toronto Police that will help us strengthen our service," Mayers, who co-owns the St. Lucia Mirror newspaper, told Share. "One of the things I would like to see is that our officers acquire specialized training by going overseas and working on a short-term basis with police services in Canada, the United States and England. That's something we are pushing for to boost our police force."

Francois agreed with Mayers, saying he would welcome a collaboration between his organization and the TPS which has always been at the forefront in the use of the latest cutting edge technology to aid investigations.

"If we can form an alliance with the Toronto Police, I will be very happy," he said. "We are a small force, so any support we can get, we will take. We are open to any technical assistance we can get from any police service. We however do not need human resources since I believe we can handle our own problems and issues.".....

Mr john harris, Sorry to have challenge your intelligence, But you need to face the reality of what is going on in st lucia and be real with yourself.
Maybe [sorry your head need to be reexamine or used wd40 to loosen some screws] Maybe also you are one who get by this goverment and don't think of others.
Please face the relity of what is going on in st lucia.
Leadership matters in every aspect of life.
IF WE FAIL TO PLAN FOR OUR FUTURE< THEN WE BETTER FAILED TO PLAN.

John Harris said...

Are you SERIOUS about challenging my intelligence? You have to be kidding, right? In 2006 the United Workers Party promised to tackle crime and bring back peace and safety to our country. Have they fulfilled that promise?

It is ironic that Guy Mayers would choose to tell the truth to a group of Canadians rather than St. Lucians.

Let me extract a quote from my post above “St. Lucia, which has……….has recorded 18 murders in the first two months of the year. Last year's total of 48 was the highest since the island secured its independence on February 22, 1979.”

I did not say these words or give this information to the Canadians; Guy Mayers was the one who did that not me. This Government has not brought back peace and safety as they promised. All we have been subjected to are LIES, LIES and more LIES!!!

Why are you so afraid of the truth? St. Lucians deserve to hear the truth before we go to the polls. Our people need all the information they can get so they can vote this incompetent group of men out of office.

Anonymous said...

Your intelligence has to be questioned because the use of irony in your blog was used in the wrong context. Please research the meaning of words before using the and that's for you John harris.

John Harris said...

Really, that’s it, that’s all you have to say? The truth must really hurt.

As far as I know, the Stephenson King Administration has been giving us the impression that the crime rate is decreasing; we are safer; everything is under control; there is no need for a curfew etc.

Mr. Mayers then tells the Canadians something totally different. Perhaps this would be a non-issue for me if he provided us with statistics on crime in St. Lucia especially for the years 2008-2011.

This government should focus less on Dr. Kenny Anthony and more on getting rid of all the thugs in the Stephenson King Administration.

What do you have to say about that? Here is some food for thought:

No charges yet in St Lucia rape case

Investigators on Caribbean island still interviewing

Press Association guardian.co.uk, Friday20 May 2011 04.38 BST

Police on the Caribbean island of St Lucia wrongly announced they had charged six men with the rape of two British women, officials have said. According to the island's acting assistant police commissioner, investigators are still interviewing "several" suspects in connection with the incident and no charges have been filed. It comes a day after a police statement said six detained men had been charged.

The British victims, aged 24 and 31, were attacked by a gang of masked men on 10 May on an isolated stretch of Grande Anse beach, in the north-east of the country. They were volunteering on a wildlife conservation project run by a British-based charity when the late night incident occurred. The British high commissioner, Karl Burrows, described the attack as "a dreadful crime". …..

St. Lucians have become so failed state in mentality, that they have embraced an 'anything to get by' mentality as a way of living. Where does that leave us?

Consider Guyana for a moment. This 'anything to get by' mentality there has cemented the tribalism of the political parties and their followers, mainly along the lines of race. Similarly, St. Lucia is divided along tribal lines. You are either UWP or SLP.

The ' anything to get by' mentality has bred the acceptance of a KNOWN US Jailbird first as an MP and now a Foreign Minister. This is coming from a majority of people from the constituency of Choiseul. What does that tell the world?

People of Choiseul and St. Lucians are telling the world that we accept criminal behaviour as acceptable behaviour, and that we have absolutely no qualms about REWARDING this type of behaviour.

We see nothing wrong with this behaviour. This is us. Such behaviour represents what we value. Therefore, there is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong in voting to have jailbirds and drug barons represent us. They think like us. We think like them. They represent OUR values system. We approve their criminality as being part of social norms.

The criminal elements in Castries are so self-assured in their right to terrorize the rest of the country, that they elected TWICE, the same suspect drug lord to office.

Right now, just as Wikie Leaks reports says, Mr. Fredericks behaviours and real estate deals have come under the scrutiny of Government of the United States.

Because of the above, US investors have complained to their government about this UWP government. Go to Luciantalk.com under the thread entitled 'Elections 2010-2011 for the link with the details.

Mr. Ed Harris(?) here is the answer to your question why there is so little FDI or Foreign Direct Investment in St. Lucia. Overseas business persons cannot trust doing business with St. Lucians under this government.

St. Lucian dishonesty is very deep-seated. It is deep within the bowels of its cabinet and government.

Foreigners do not have trust in St. Lucians ... something very fundamental for doing business in foreign coutries. St. Lucians do not trust other St. Lucians. That is why ONLY people within the same party do business or can get business.

We are on the way to a slow choking death of the private sector. Mr. Rick Wayne here is the answer to your 'wither the private sector' question too, in St. Lucia. As part of the problem, please, enjoy yourself.

Are you the one getting bye from this goverment and not because you do, But think of the thousands of our young people who left school and can't find no jobs.
Are you thinking of the 21percent unemployed on the island.
Are you thinking of how corrupt this goverment has been with scandals after scandals and god in heaven knows how much more to be revealed.
Maybe you need to takesome time through nature to digest and come to the realization that st lucia's reputation has been tarnished by this Goverment, Domestic,Caribbean, and international.
Think this through and maybe you will have a change of mind.

Lets face it this present goverment can't lead, and they need a sence of direction.
Not every person is cut for certain jobs,
For Mr King, He has never been ready, nor has the quality to be a prime minister.
My Fellow lucians look at the country we all live in, These guys are enriching themselves at our expence.
