It bothered me for years, that one man owned such a large part of Vieux Fort;for that matter one could argue that this acquisition impeded the development of that area for years!..

On the health related issues of smoking: local health organizations would do better imparting this information than any government would.

The message about education should have been conveyed to Mr.King while he was PM. The former PM will go down in St.Lucia's history who made a fool of himself by belittling education especially Dr. Raymond's PhD.

Mr. Josie, why didn't you convey that very important message to your dear friend Stephenson King while he served as PM?

The UWP should do the right thing, and place a more capable person as leader not one who is only now asserting his position because he is in opposition. I really like the idea of having either Gail or Sarah become the leader. At least we will have a fresh and better start to the UWP.

Great piece Josie. I had the privilege of driving around with him, two of us, and just listening to him counsel me. He was a visionary and I sincerely miss him.

Get off the politics. What is so big about Ubaldus' Phd? He is so good and yet Kenny made him a Permanent Sec? King was right after all.

By the way King did not reject Ubaldus'DHP --LOL

The people did.

The people voted King in the event that UWP should win the election. They would have no other UWP as PM.
They were really rejecting all the other UWP members. Think about it. The dumbest (ok, tie with Estephan) performs the best? Give me a break!
This is called security against Frederick et al.

Mr. Louis Boriel should have put his money where his mouth was; and give each St.Lucian a million dollars and come back in ten years (he easily could have afford it).

I bet many, many St.Lucians would have put their million to good use.

How appropriate and very timely Mr. Josie. I hope the Government and people read and grasp this concept.

Peter. Here is the opposite to Mr.Boriel's theory: teach a man/woman to fish he will feed himself for his entire life.Imagin what this would have done to Vieux Fort's economy!

Boriel did give Kyap, his son, one million dollars. He blew the shit out of this money. The meeting with Josie was to discuss Boriel getting the bulk of contracts in the south. Don't be fooled. Joe Emmanuel, a Compton diehard had been getting all the works. Boriel complained that Joe would collect money in a hat and he had to stop that. Cecil Lay could not help because he did not have a cabinet post so smart louis looked at the other Vieux Fortian for support. Josies first act of corruption has just been told by him.

Why Josie did not practice that when in active politics---he know that was the reverse.good confession is good for the soul.lol

King should do the right thing and give up the UWP leadership. This man is truly a disgrace not only to the UWP but to St.Lucians both far and near.

The issue of the belittlement of Dr.Raymond's PhD by Mr.King is a serious one. St.Lucians of sensible intellect will note that only the dumbest individuals among us will support Mr.King belittlement of any educational degree.

I support men and women of intellect, purpose, integrity and leadership acumen so I support Dr. Raymond, Emma, Dr. Lewis, Gail Rigobert and Sarah Beaubren 100%. Those persons are among some of the brightest and best in St.Lucia.

BRAVO TO ALL FEMALE POLITICIANS AND ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SEEN TO QUALIFY THEMSELVES WHERE ONLY MALES DARE TO VENTURE A FEW DECADES AGO. BRAVO TO THE FOLLOWING WOMEN:

Dr. Plummer(former senator)
Dr. Julietta Joseph-Raymond
Dr. Gail Rigobert
Dr. Morella Joseph
Dr. Rosie Husband-Mathurin
Dr. Browne
Dr. Lansiquot

Bravo to all other St.Lucian females who have achieved the highest educational milestone (PhD MD, EDd. Doc. PsyD etc.

Please Kenny let's put those persons in positions where St.Lucians can benefit from their contributions, that is, if they are not already doing so.

No where and at no time has it been proven that a PhD is more valuable to his or her community than, let us say, the grave-digger, the local butcher, the local fisherman, the grass-cutter, or even the handy-man who performs odd jobs in the neighborhood.

A PhD's main goal is to secure himself a good paying job to maintain a certain lifestyle and to help recoup his huge college expense.

Last blogger: what you wrote is just idiotic.
Rich, powerful, and evil people have brainwashed you into believing that nonsense: to keep you and your type uneducated, uninformed, and forever under their thumbs - that's all!

As a holder of two University degrees, I am in a position to talk about the merits, or non-merits of a PhD.

If a person doesn't have common sense, a PhD can't, and won't, change that. And @ above, you belong to that category.

There is a place for grasscutters, butchers but there is also a place for PhD's, and persons of quality terminal degrees. Stop criticizing the PhD degree because your jealousy exudes in your statements. I feel pity for persons who simply despise holders of PhD degrees. I ask why? But, something tells me the answer is deeper than simply jealousy, it may very well be a canker sore of high illiteracy among our populace and a hatred towards postgraduate education.

Dr. Lewis(a holder a PhD degree)your work is obviously cut out for you. Our people desperately needs help because similar sentiments about trashing PHD's has been reiterated by persons such as Rick Wayne and others in the media. The research clearly shows that as a society increases in terms of education and educational degrees so does the economic progress of that society.

People learn and stop being haters of persons who hold PhD's etc. Embrace them instead. Lord we need help.

Mr. ‘last writer’ your self-proclaimed two degrees have not helped you very much either, because whereas the previous writer stated that what you wrote was idiotic (not you) - an opinion he or she had every right to express – you instead subjectively attacked the writer him-or-herself for what exists within the privacy of their own mind, that is, whether he or she possesses common sense.
Notwithstanding, my common sense suggests that you must either possess a crystal ball with extraordinary powers, or maybe you are a practitioner of some kind of necromancy that affords you the privilege of mindreading any Internet blogger with whom you disagree.
It’s a pity you weren’t able to complete your education, otherwise you would have learnt that personal attacks tend to revel both an inferior character and mind.

Sorry last blogger. My last blog was meant for the anti-higher education blogger just before you.
