I loved her and even if i did not have time to stop when walking through the market I would shout "Miss Claudia". "Hello, how are you" she would respond, sometimes not even turning round in her tall chair, she recognized my English accent.
I discovered years before that Claudia was an East London girl like myself, and had left London and now lived on the island. I think we had alot in common because I too had done the same and found how when I did stop and speak to her her English accent came back to meet with mine.
Rest in peace Claudia, and may the Lord comfort your loved ones in their loss.

I never felt such a lost,i cant remember feeling such lost,Claudia was the quintessential market woman, none will come close, she was and will forever be the one,the only one, some people was born to do certain things and be the best at what they do,the shoemaker, the lawyer, there she was the market vendor, but not limited, she could of been the prime minster, she was the king and queen of the market, she can be as tough as a man if need be,and gentle as woman, very smart, very articulate,i lots of time with Claudia, there will be none other like her...i can still hear her voice, that English accent, her arrangement of her stall, her presentation she was not always understood,Claudia was simply the best, the cream of the crop, she would help anyone..Claudia you left too soon, you are lying there lifeless and the market needs you,if i knew the magic word,if i knew that potion,if there was a fee to be paid so you can be here..Claudia i would i cant believe that they are going to take you away and put you in that cold ground...Claudia i am talking to you..so sad.

Thank you for the kind words in this article. My auntie really was the life of the market. Such an inspiring woman who encouraged me to live my life to the full and to be fearless. I owe a lot to my aunt.

I'm sorry that we cannot be there to attend your funeral Claudia, but all of the family in the UK are thinking of you, every day. Thank you for being such an inspiration. I can only hope to learn from you that life must be lived, and loved.

Rest in peace Auntie.

I came back to leave another message, tormented by her passing,Claudia was not a Ambassador, nor minster, her job did not have status,it was simple a market vendor, not dignified by any means,Claudia was bigger than life, she transcended the market,i cant help to such sadness,i call her cell phone from New York and listen to her voice and in the message she said i will be back,oh how i wish that was true...in life we only have holidays, for men and woman of great stature, movie stars,Claudia was a huge star in her own right,if you ever met her you would truly understand, she was St.Lucia best kept secret, yet she was relegated to the market, and most people think, little of those people..But i can tell anyone Claudia Marie Evans was the exception, she superseded the market,in the end the market consume her,Claudia i am not sure if you can understand, but you are honorable, majestic, and its the most noble thing to do,to give your last rights.Claudia you are incredible, wonderful, nothing is the same since you been the same.

Thank You for writing such a heartfelt article about my Aunt. It has been so difficult to grieve until now whilst reading this the tears finally came. THANK YOU
