thank initiative may be able to work: 'after school hours' is vague and a reasonable time needs to be stipulated. Students do have extracuricular activities but some children are waiting for parents/guardians during the time they seem to be idle in the streets. Secondly, it may be a better option to have the students 'idle' in town than to have them unsupervised in the home where anything can and will happen. thirdly, seriously, we need to keep the police away from these police for real- cuz if they have authority to apprehend students... we may never see some of these students the same way again- if we see them again at all.... you see the opinion that police have left in our minds? they can't be trusted!!!

Ok.. what is the purpose of the CCC building? really? Transform it into an "The Boys and Girls Club of St. Lucia," to have them spend free time in a controlled environment. Have televisions, video games, board games, textile and cooking classes.. whatever. Charge a minimal fee ($5.00) to enter where they can remain... and while we are at it, how about a nursery? So parents of public servants can have their youth (infant - 4 years) remain while the parents are at work for the government. If not use the CCC building then dedicate a school (ave Maria or RC Boys) for such an initiative... think about it!!!

Unless the students are engaged in criminal activities.
Unless law enforcement and the community has conducted a diligent study of the cause of such rash of loitering by students.
Unless reasonable minds have collaboratede and devised extra-curricular programs and activities ( apprenticeships - capentry, fashion designing etc. )to engage those students in positive and meaningful endeavours.
Unless law enforcement contemplates the devastating social and psychological effects of early incarceration; of whatever duration on, especially, children, bagai sa la cai santee caca for every community afflicted by the hasty decisions of men in high places who chomp at the bit to practice abuse of the people, just because they have the power to do so.

Annoymous at 9:30am, "The Boys and Girls Club of St. Lucia," is a great idea. Hopefully someone will explore that option. Lucians, like complaining and criticizing everything but very few offer solutions. That was a great contribution!
