Why not something more relevant to the development needs of the country like technology?

Yes, chess is ok. However, is so glacially and incrementally developmental at both the individual and national levels!

But why is leadership thinking in Saint Lucia so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o 20th century?

Would a Math competition, some initiative regarding a Science and Technology Lab or annual contest, or starting a technology museum be more beneficial at both the individual and national levels?

'The medium is the message'!

Do we want our youth to grow up as old children, simply playing computerized games?
