What belt tightening you talking about. Misery!!!!!!!!!!!

Micah

You call that belt tightening?

Those affected say it's like putting a hot iron rod where
it will hurt!

You wouldn't know if you don't travel by bus or your journey is
short.

My God! What is this! Another increase. Discretionary income gone! 15% increase on VAT. Where will the people who have to take THREE buses from home to work, and three to come back home, find the money? This government is driving people up the wall.

However for night time operations the Council asked for the $12 fare to be moved by $1.75 to $13.73.
---------------
They usual bus fare of $4.00 on that route will increase by 100 percent to $8.00 if the original proposal is withheld by Cabinet.

Government has clearly pointed the way of how to fleece the public.

It should not be too hard for those who can, will follow the government's shinning example.

Government has declared that it is hunting season. Watch out!

It is open season. Even government is punishing people for being so darn stupid by voting them.

How much more water can the governing bodies expect to squeeze out of stone? Gentlemen of the council,in your deliberations on the increase of public bus fares on the St' Lucian ridership, have you considered the following?
1. That the income base of the average rider will render such incresae un-sustainable
2. That such increase on the ridership of school students boomerangs on the budget of the average household, and further stresses the paying capacity of traveling patrons,
In effect, the entire fare -ncrease plan seems set to price the public bus service out of the market.
Has the council taken time to conduct an in-depth feasibility study on the development of public transportation for the island? Has anyone considered instituting a school bus system ( funded as part of the Ministry of Education services?) Has the council entered into collaboration with business and industrial organizations and corporations in finding ways to fund and develop a viable public transportation system for the island?
As it stands the projected bus fare increases is synonymous to robbing a poor man. It is like a heavy flood tha leaves no food in its wake.

Saint Lucia's elite does NOT argue on the basis of fact. Not even the CSA was able to present fact-based arguments for an wage increase. Sir Arthur Lewis expected persons in the Civil Service to have the highest technical capabilities in the land.

Today, our high places are populated with incompetent and clueless political yardfowls. No ifs, no buts, no maybes!

Our political tribalism guarantees the retention of the status quo. The what has bubbled up as leaders are just too far dumb to reject and to transform the institutionalization of the mediocrity. They too are so darn mediocre.

Granted the best of intentions of the political directorate, and that is taking a god damn lot for granted, the Civil Service in Saint Lucia is devoid of the capacity to convert ideas into effectively executed policies. They are just as dumb as our politicians.
