Somehow, I am dizzy with excitement that the Saint Lucian government knows exactly what the hell it's doing. First, it joins hands with the left-leaning countries and dictator-type regimes of ALBA, Saint Lucia's first language being Spanish, and the second is Creole.
Next, it snubs the US. Saint Lucia seeks solutions to its economic problems by drawing on benchmarking solutions from Cuba.
However, the most extraordinary thing for our teeming hordes of idiots and nincompoops in the local media, is that they cannot see the writing on the wall.
The IMF conditionalities are ALREADY falling into place, piece by piece, and more are looming large. Hurray for the cornerstone achievements so far!
Subsidies have been removed from basic foods and household items, and the IMF-recommended VAT is beating the living daylights out of the population. These are the forerunners or conditionalities for appeasement of that body for future financial support and easements.
The OECS is having a field day with an "open Kimono" meeting to further the international trade objectives of the WTO. Call it what you will.
