Are Saint Lucians a Corrupt People?

Well said. That is why partisans and yardfowls engage in what they call general elections, but which are really games of musical chairs.

It is not even unusual to hear people actually reasoning that it is their turn to get at the political trough. Hey! The pigs have it!

No concern goes to what either party has in its manifesto. No concern for deep and meaningful change exist. People are just happy to see projects that will coincide with the next general elections.

This partly explains why the yardfowls were ALL on the bridge making a commotion about who started the work, and who was getting the praise for finishing it.

By the pervasiveness of this type of country bookie logic, in the future we can expect to see only the engagement only in projects that will end within the time window ending with the calling of new elections.

Politics abhors a vacuum.

Statesmen we have not. Yardfowls and country bookies have already filled the void.

Seems like we are heading for a doomsday scenario and the brain drain that attends countries which persist with our deep-seated corruption. But if we make our bed up like this, we are going to have to lie on it.

Syria shows that political nastiness goes unpunished.

The idealism that governed past behaviours no longer exists. In its place are country bookie types, retards and the semi-literate which are controlling large swathes of territory in, or even complete countries today.

The political struggle created by these types are even having a field day in places like the US and in Northern Nigeria.

We are not immune from such. The last UWP cabal that passed for a government is veritably, a case in point in terms of the shape of things to come. Aren't some of the actors on the political scene today, some of the very same ones from the past that are being recycled?

When are Saint Lucians ever going to say goodbye to bad rubbish?

Change requires great courage.
Who will have the character to stand up against these corrupt powers and ideas?
Those who will, will be the heroes of the day.
It has to be up to the young! Because although with age should come some wisdom; unfortunately most times it comes with fear and cowardice!
Young people of St.Lucia AWAKE and save your nation before it's too late!!

well Micah, that's where you come in, to investigate and expose those acts. I expect to get some examples in your next article on the topic.

Micah has to tread very carefully whenever he challenges the status quo. Remember, the British law which we have borrowed from, was written by the lawyering class to protect themselves and their rich clients, generally the who's who.

We see that the tendency to cover up wrongdoing being amply demonstrated in the various law suits under our libel laws made against those that dare to say anything, that even remotely bring into sharp relief, the improprieties of certain well-heeled individuals in society.

This is especially, when it is known that certain individuals who have the evidence, but who for fear of victimization and even death at the hands of those with the "contracts", will not surface the evidence. Great caution is advised.

Yet, we all know from the science of inquiry, that "the absence of evidence, is not evidence of its absence".

Thus, when the kokomakaque has taken place, somebody somewhere knows, is hiding something, or is protecting somebody.

There is a clear difference between "UWP" & "SLP" as there is between "CORRUPTION" & "CO-ORDINATION".

"My duty as a journalist is to God, country and my conscience."

What a joke! What does God have to do with this? Your job as a journalist is to be as objective as possible, not letting your innate and social biases overwhelm facts as they exist. We can attempt to be objective but as social creatures we can't.
In other words Micah, stop lying to yourself and readers!

Nation-wide have we changed much from the indictment in that Blum-Cooper Report? I don't think so.

If any constituency elects another jail bird and ID-theft jail history character, and anywhere else, a hand-stuck-in-the-Treasury's-gookie-jar person, then we will have known that we are being represented by those who truely reflect our national values system, namely, borbol.

The simple democracy of the media as it is called
is nothing but a smokescreen to deceive-to be one-sided and stinky.

Their main formulation is to dirty other's linen with their gall bladder brain.
Their front pages are the nervous system function by hypnotic and double dealing.
Under hand presumption to produce an effective web
of erroneous issue to cross eye readers full with versions and blunders.

Like the bile's that flows into their blood streams of unrestricted

A piece well written, but I hope that as time goes by, We really need more education on such facts that our people will be able to make sound choices for their future and the future of their children,
There are many things that journalist needs to probe, and doesn't do so that's why our people being full by rum and chicken.
Most likely the UWP and their 5 years in office
The millions borrowed, and where are the projects to show for it.
Millions that was given after Debbie and what was done with it.
Millions for the St Jude fire what was done with the moneys and how much was spent.
How much millions was given to each of the UWP ministers for their constituency, Where was these moneys spent, and to what projects.
Also the former tourism minister, his Stewardship and accountability to his department, even before the court with the Tuxedo villa affair.
King from house rent to mansion.

Short answer: Up to their eyeballs deep!

These are two revealing and good terms.

Productive corruption and malignant corruption. We can live with productive corruption. The little people get something but the big wheels get the most.

But malignant corruption is simply stealing; putting your hands in the public purse and making withdrawals for projects that never exist or was never intended to be executed.

Productive corruption has a nicer and more acceptable name. It's called being connected. Using or giving government's land as part of government's investment for a hotel and allowing the hotel concern to use the land as collateral for a loan to build the hotel. That is productive. Or giving a hotel chain/company with no assets a government guaranteed loan to build a hotel, Hyatt Hotel. And then giving them free rein to do what ever they please. And when the business/hotel fails the government or the people have to pay back that loan.

Focus is now on the last 5 years of a UWP government, Do you think if all these millions were put to good use, Maybe they would still be in Government,or maybe things would have been easier for this government and the people of St Lucia. Don't we all should believe so. UWP and Labour.
