How many policemen has this governmet in fact brought onto the steets in the past three years. The police are probably stressed out being on the beat all the time without sufficient backup. We simply do not have the numbers to create that presence necessary to deter crime. The Kenny Anthony Administration was on the right path in increasing the manpower of the RSLPF and that is what needs to be continued. In particular we need more police in criminal instigation, community patrol and SSU. That said, our problem of crime was boiling since the 60s with mass migration to the city. As more and more people mass with nothing to do and with now distant contacts with the rural communities and geater contact to what they perceive urban living in the "ghetto" we'll continue to see this problem exacerbate. We need some serious outside and intelligence to fight the drug war.
How many times must it be said. We need more police! Human contact will assure witnesses and constant patrols will interrupt and decrease criminal activity.
When the Kenny administration was in power, they recognized that crime was on the rise and therefore structures were put in place during their tenure. These so called structures are important in any society.....(a)Increase & advance training in the police force; (b)Scrutinizing potential police officers; (c)Building a correctional facility; (d)Building secured police stations; (e)supplementing police vehicles...etc., etc. It was an ongoing mission set by the past government to combat crime. Now what do we have under this regime, talk, talk and no concrete actions. This country is running wild, wild west!!
I am disappointed at the level of helplessness exemplified by both Mayers and Police Chief on the crime issue. Hope they are able to pull this one through. If not, they can always tap into the expertise of Dr. Julietta Joseph-Raymond, and other nationals who are experts in the field of crime and delinquency.

The chief looks daze and out of sync, Also, he needs to dress in full police outfit to fully distinguish himself and represent his office.
