thats really a sad state of affairs I must say. That was a really short lived honeymoon with regards to a sense of national pride being exhibited after Monday night's episode of The Bachelor. I mean after that episode the slew comments pouring all over the street and facebook indicating how proud we are to be st.lucian, who feeling home sick, and who done stop "yanking". The timing of this exposure that precedes our independence celebration was perfect for us to step up and run with it. Instead we dropped the ball and yet want to argue and cuss off people who call us out for showing lack of nation pride.
Oh, may I add, I did look at the entire episode and did pay attention to what the guy has been saying at times on his date.."having a nice private beach". Yes St.Lucia, we have nice private beaches, so you know how that is going to attract investors and entice current hoteliers to make our beaches more private.
I live outside St Lucia. Can someone please tell me are there local elections to elect officials to run the affairs of the City, Towns and Village Councils on the island like it used to be and does the City of Castries have a Mayor? A solution for decentralizing National Activities and the like would be for the Central Government in Castries to allow to the City, Towns and Village Councils to organize their own celebrations, draft programmes and projects and after Central Government approval assist them by providing grants and other resources. This would give the local residents not only a sense of National pride but a sense of pride in their communities' achievements and would attract volonteers and the local business places to particpate and enhance the celebrations and the economy islandwide. St Lucia listen up! Local Governments in a society are essential, these institutions are avenues for our young people and grooms our future leaders preparing and providing much needed experiences before they move onto the National Stage.
