The issue is not the size of the NIC's investment portfolio but whether the returns on this portfolio is enough to me the NIC current and future commitments. THe whole reaons for increasing the retirement age was because the population is aging rapidly and as a result the NIC expects a surge in claims for pensions, gratuities etc.

From 2006 how many jobs has the king administration created in order for the nic to bubble up so our retired people will be able to have something coming so you see instead of finding ways to put st lucians to worked they are raiding the nic for special interest I feel the people plight many a young person need jobs and how can they pay nic when the goverment is playing favoritism with a few vote the criminals out
Precisely....... It is not the issue as to the viability of the NIC. It is whether the move from the NIC to the Baywalk Mall is prudent to the fiscal responsibility of the country's management. In this economy, one has to look at the long term effect. Without speculation, what would be the effect on the NIC revenue if other ministries or professional services decide to promote their comfort level.
We would probably have a different opinion if the change was only transitional pending repairs of the current site but we are of the opinion that this is a indefinite move.
Mr Mathurin just gave us part of pie and that's all well and good to know the intake (or revenue)from investment and contributions. So what is the total output (or distribution) for pensions, salaries(NIC) and other maintenance cost? The balance sheet, Sir.
"It's not the issue as to the viability of the NIC" - did I read that right? Isn't that precisely Emma's point? Isn't that what all the concern is about?

the usual lucian crooks at nic
Can rental be counted when rental revenues are now diminishing? Did the NIC director take that into account when he presented his figures?
