Google ALBA on the World Wide Web and you can see for yourself who the latin american countries are and what we know they stand for.

And there is IRAN and SYRIA as observers. Need we say more?
No amount media-whoring by any kiss-me-ass newsman; can make the truth on ALBA untruths. CASE CLOSED.

This government is just plain tricksters.

See now they are dismantling the GIS because they are not whoring-the-government information.

Is Shelton daniel aware that last week Venezuela offically pulled out of the OAS affiliated Inter American Court of human rights and inter American commission on human rights.
The government also stated that they are backing the creation of a latin American court of human rights.It also stated that bodies like ALBA would work as the replacement as guarantors of human rights.
Now,is this important information.YES,because if the move is to have ALBA replace the Current Human rights commission,since St.Lucia is a member of ALBA,then it means that St.lucia would would have to do like Venezuela (leave)and let ALBA monitor its human rights issues.
TIME WILL TELL.

For the five years that the uwp government was in power they never took the time to write against thir government, because it was in their interest now the shoes turn and they are expert on foreign matters.
We have serious issues which have to do with Education, Inspite of living in an age of information and Enlightenment. we still receive second hand information.
There are politician, Media, as well as journalist who creat more evil in our society by not sharing the right information.
I do support micah comment

The entire population including supposedly progressive leadership is hell-bent on regarding the level of receipts of foreign aid as an important metric of economic development. In Saint Lucia, in our external relations, PM means Prime Mendicant.

Culturally and politically, we have been conditioned to depend and rely on outsiders and external bodies to lead our development, just as in the colonial era.

Independent in name mainly, we continue to demonstrate a peculiar lack of self-determination.

Someone needs to explain and beg our leaders in both of our major political parties, to abandon their mendicant posture and philosophy of economic development.

Projects coming from donor agencies and foreign governments should only serve to complement, but should not be relied upon as substitutes for insightful and carefully planned economic development and self-determination.

Already we are seeing the downsides of this mendicant approach in the reliance by the party faithful of both major parties for the jobs of those incumbents who are members of the opposing parties.

The high threshold of tolerance for grave excesses, outright theft and borbol is the price that we pay nationally, for looking the other way when our party members or government ministers cross the boundaries of decency and propriety.

Our women, in turn, have learnt from political leaders, to catch whatever they can from the several sperm donors they can go to bed with in order to feed the offspring of other, but still largely sperm donors. And so the intergenerational, nationwide and national psychological state of dependency and mendicancy repeats and reinforces itself.

You gave a partial description of the LEATHY law.You gave nothing on ALBA.Why didn't you?Is it because you
don't have the information?If you competent at what you do you would have it.
Your topic was A BETTER UNDERSTANDING NEEDED.Don't you think that a better understanding would be arrived at if you gave the rationale(as provided by the framers of each one)the goals and objectives of both and the members of ALBA including SYRIA and IRAN and their positions as members of ALBA?
Better understanding only comes with full disclosure of all information with regards to the subject.
Maybe a program in MASS COMMUNICATIONS would be very useful to you.(degree level)

Mistake again! Mass communications is NOT foreign policy. One does NOT subsume the other. Never!

The issue of international begging (aid) and dependency is so much part of the national psyche that one of political aspirants was part of fracas that arose out of a determination to demonstrate that his party, and not the one that was opening the bridge was responsible for starting the bridge project.

A statesman would have demonstrated a deeper understanding and a far greater perspective than a focus on ONE bridge that happened NOT to be completed under, but started by his party.

Stupid and God-damn ignorant Saint Lucians come in all types of colours!
