Well said. So so true.
Hope the PM and his ministers read this and take heed. They won't have anything to govern unless they take action. As you say what use is money spent in other, unnecessary projects, when society is fast going down the drain. Support the police, improve the judicial system to process cases, bring justice, and stop pussy footing around.

It will take more than financial or moral support of the police force to start fixing the problems in St Lucia. From what I have read, and seen for myself of the individuals who make up the police force, they require rehabilitation themselves. When a society fears or scorns that which suppose to protect them, you know the problem is deeper than lacking financial support. For any organization or business to function productively, there must be proper training. Training on humanity, public relations, mediation, etc. Until you have individuals who genuinely care for and have empathy for their fellow man in these organizations, chaos will always reign. Regardless if finances are provided, without the will to be heroes/protectors of their society, nothing will change. People should realize that every One is responsible for each other. If we all look out for one another, all helped in however small way it will amount to greater and St Lucia can one day become the simply beautiful and peaceful paradise we knew growing up. P.S I am only 27 and have great memories of running around free with my siblings on the beaches, rivers, etc. never worrying about safety and now as a Woman I worry about just being home, sad state for the present younger generations!

I could not agree with you more. I enjoyed reading your article as it touched on allot of questions which seem to go unanswered by those in authority. Again even though our resources may be limited this is no excuse for crime to be at the level it is at right now. In this modern day and age we need to keep up with the times and elevate our peoples thinking and get of of this Jurassic way of thinking. Another problem I see that is rampant in this island of ours is the who knows who here by name and status.
Regardless of who one may be in this small society of ours the laws should be applicable to all. Again I do hope your article does not fall on deaf ears and that it sends out a strong message of what has to be addressed in our fair Helen to make it a better place for those coming up.

The women who sell their bodies for kentucky fried chicken, then get preganat; child born; no father owns it; is brought up more like a pup than a child and witnesses his mother with several different men, coming in and out of her bedroom; is in great part; the final result of what we are currently experiencing. Frustrated, depressed young men and women; embarrassed by the actions of their mothers and to some extent their fathers; and are psychologically messed up/affected; and this is one way on taking it out on the community in which they live. A way of venting their anger.

A building do not make a functioning lab, it take a bit more. But what else can we expect from our government.
