We do not have a sports culture in St.Lucia.Our Education system is based soley on academics.Witness The Sir Arthur Lewis Cpmmonity College. This instituition should be producing our premier athletes from the island. Is it? Also there is also and indifferent attitude towards sports by many school principals and often come into conflict with the ministry of sports. The government must step in and put policy in place to ensure better coordination between the ministry of sports and education where some principals are a hindrance to sports with their indifferent attitudes. Also note how the seniors when they have their games how all their children are there to support them but when it is their kids turn they are virtualy absent. I dare say that the majority of parents are absent from their kids school sports meet. It would be interesting to see the results if a survey was conducted among students who participate in those sports events to find out from them who from their family attend their games or events. This is how we will see whether we are serious about sports as a country.
The more things change the more they remain the same......GOD ALONE can change it!
