Hey Micah

Why a short election. To bring back who? Kenny could not solve it before, what makes you think he can do any better?

Anonymous said...

How we Lucians have a short memory, that is why we forgot the mess Compton left the country and he had to retire, after 9 years we voted him back as an 82 yrs. old on his death bed, thinking that he was a savour of the country. No body could ever solve crime in any country, but they could do things to control it. Kenny has done better and he will do better than this government we have here in St Lucia today. I will remind you of some of what he did, if you cannot or playing you cannot remember. (1) He build a brand new prison to secure the criminals, taking out the poor workers from the smelly shit hole at bridge street. (2) He built many brand new police stations to provide better working condition for the poor policemen. (3) He build a brand new forensic lab to solve criminal activities. (4) He hired many new police officers. (5) He brought in the British officers to help the local cops . (6) He equipped the police with many forms of transportation and bikes (6) He gave the civil servants and police a couple of raise in salary etc, etc. What has this government done in their three years? Na da.

And y did they kick him out, because he is a very bad accountant, he can't seem to find $45,000,000 of the tax payers' money.

Anonymous said...

That is all i am hearing is that same old tune about Kenny was not a good accountant, when he was trying to bring jobs to us, nobody is telling us we still got a hotel in that same spot, which is creating jobs to us. This government has presented three budgets to us with nothing much has come out of these budgets and the money is being spent anyway. This government is constantly borrowing money, there was a time they borrowed $250 million at once. We have not seen one substantial project created by this government, but you consider them good accountants. All Guy joseph can talk about is cost over run, cost over run, now he is a minister, he is trying to repair the Choc to Babanneau road, he never made the cost of the road public, nobody know how much is being spent. So i suppose he is a good accountant. You are so happy we kicked out Kenny, but Kenny is not the one suffering in St Lucia, the only people benefiting are the incompetent ministers and their friends or supporters who they gave big jobs like Hepples and people like Springer who just got a big jobs for supporting the government, whiles the majority of St Lucian cannot find a job. So there is nothing to be happy about the kicking out of Kenny.

Anonymous said...

Plain and simple. When you have a bad accoutant, you don't just fire him, you stay very far away from him. This is the message going forward. No matter how bad things are, we don't need more of the same going into 2010. The people of fair Helen must move on from all bad accountants.

Anonymous said...

Hold on to you'll failed Kenny. No problem at all. You'll can have him warts and all.

The rest of us are searching for progressive leaders for St Lucia, not gods.

Anonymous said...

I agree Kenny failed according to your opinion, although not everybody will agree with you, some people will say he made a few mistakes, as every government does or will do. The problem is where in St Lucia will we find a perfect politician, who have not or will never make a mistake? If you can answer this question, show me that person or persons. Show me the progressive leaders you are talking about, please show me them.

Anonymous said...

St Lucia is screwed. Crime is at an all time high and ALL the politicians are in it for themselves.. Bring back public hangings and start with the lying sons of bitches in government. Now, THAT will get everybodys attention. Next the criminals, Hang em all. They don't care about the community, they just suck the joy out of success by stealing your stuff. I'm telling you. the fist candidate to propose hangings will win because we're tired of it.

Anonymous said...

You right St Lucia is screwed, because we elected a government who do not have a clue of what is going on in the country or how to govern the country. All they do is to travel the world and create scandals after scandals. Praise God we will kick them out next year once and for all.

Anonymous said...

To the one who wants to bring back hanging I say why don't you try it on yourself, then you can tell us how it feels.

Anonymous said...

If you know it does not feel good to be hanged then you do not commit murder, plain and simple. Why are you advocating for murderers? I am sure if somebody kill your mother, father or sibling for no reason as they does in St Lucia, you will be singing another tune.

Anonymous said...

I'm the one for hanging. Now listen up you pantyhose wearing sissy. Don't feel sorry for criminals and don't try to understand them. Just punish them until it stops. Compassion will never work with them get it??? Now as for me hanging myself,is that the best you can come up with. Turn off your computer and GO TO BED! Ray

Anonymous said...

Killing is killing, so y do u like it.

Anonymous said...

So Ray, a dose of your own medicine is bitter, isn't it?

Anonymous said...

A dose of my own medicine is bitter? What on earth are you talking about? Ray

Anonymous said...

You right.

Anonymous said...

hi my name is sherman i think calling for a election i think king is a good pime minister kenny just a shame of himseif.i think calling a election would still keep him out why call

Anonymous said...

We know King is a very, very good PM and kenny is ashamed of himself. But nowhere you have said what has King accomplished in St Lucia in his tenure to be a good PM. I am waiting to hear.

Anonymous said...

Kenny did not only make mistakes, Kenny lied and tried to hide those mistakes. Responsible leaders face up they hide.

Anonymous said...

You have not answered the question, the other thing i am expecting is for you to say is, Kenny bring to much rain and sun shine on St Lucia. Remember the time when you all was blaming Kenny for crime in St Lucia, so nothing i hear from people like you about Kenny does not suprise me.

Anonymous said...

How did Kenny hide his mistakes, when we all know the mistakes from day one, and it was always in the open. These mistakes were highlighted from day up to now. Why can't you tell us what is truely hidden? What is the cost of the Allan Bousquet highway? How much cost over run that has been accomplished there so far? This is what is hidden. kenny is out of power three years ago, let us put checks and balances on our present government.

Anonymous said...

We knew he messed up in Rochamel but we did not know how many companies he formed to hide this faux par. If you believe that UWP has messed up present the evidence of wrong doing. Don't just stay here and allege. Present the facts.

At least we know the facts about Kenny.

Anonymous said...

If you do not know the amount of scandals the uwp was and is involved in for the past three years, then you are not living in St Lucia, you are not interested in the affairs of St lucia or you are just plain bias. If you have the guts to ask for evidence of uwp wrong doing in St Lucia, then you have the heart to kill a human being. No government in the history of St Lucia have been so bad as this present government. THREE (3) minister have been actually arrested by police and one has been convicted in court. What more evidence do you need? If i have to list the scandals created by this uwp government i will not have enough space. The people of St lucia know the scandals.

Anonymous said...

List the scandals or shut up.

Anonymous said...

I will not list the scandals, because there was none. next year the people of St Lucia will tell you, when they kick this incompetent government out of office.

Anonymous said...

Reading the previous comments has proved one thing to me. As long as we the electorate are so divided, the politicians will always get their own way. Both administrations have got to be held accountable for the increase in the crime rate. When Garboo and his crew had their shoot out on the Chausee that morning, Kenny was not in power. However, Kenny's team did not do much to stem the flow of or escalation of crime. Someone mentioned the new prison, forensic lab etc, etc...What good is the new prison if the Court system operates like a Rum Shop on a Friday night...What good is a forensics lab if our cops have no clue how to secure a crime scene or gather evidence? Folks, this crime wave is destroying all of us, both Red & Yellow...Instead of bickering about Kenny this and King that, lets come together, regardless of party afiliation and pressure the present government to tackle crime properly. We need to unite for the common good of our nation. Frankly, I don't give a toss who's in power. I want us to have our island back. Take it from the criminals, the 'borborliss', paedophiles and their crews. Kenny will get over not being in power. Give him time. King will also, should he not win the next election. It is us, we are the ones who will be attending each others funerals. Despite our political preferences, we drink in the same bars, attend the same churches, our kids go to the same schools and we perhaps even share sex partners. There will be no solution without unity. Lets not create more smoke screens for the politicians to continue raping Helen mercilessly. Lets come together and picket King's office everyday for the next month, until the known criminals and their guns are taken off the streets. There are ways to get his attention. Lets come together and figure out a few, instead of hating each other because of Red and Yellow. Lets make tackling crime our collective new years resolution..Happy New Year St Lucia..

The do not know why the people who seem to to supporting the government are so angry, although their government is in office, something must be wrong.

Anonymous said...

I don't know why people who seem to support the SLP Labour are so angry? They've been telling us all year long that they are going to kick the butt of the UWP. Why be so agree if you are sure that you can achieve this?

DaProdigalSon said...

Here we go again....Is anybody out there? Stop being so pro this party and pro that party...Save it for the next election..in the interim, let's use this forum as a means to brainstorm and find common solutions to reduce crime in this country...Unity is strength...remain divided and seal your fates....doom, doom, gloom and more doom. Wake up people. the fighting will not help us.

Anonymous said...

Black people don't know how to unite, no wonder. I think the OECS unity is the greatest achievement of the black race in the last millenia.

Anonymous said...

Daprodigalson, i appreciate what are trying to do but we cannot unite when there are people who insist they will support an incompetent government. A government who have not implement a single new policy. Nobody can stop crime, but the government can control crime. It is not a difficult task to provide police presence at various points to deter criminals. Imagine many tourist boats in the harbor and we cannot find any police in the city. We also know that fishing boats are used to traffic drugs, guns and criminal etc to and from St lucia to the other islands. Nobody in government is trying to regulate these boats, something as simple as that.

Anonymous said...

So y don't u take up a post and defend it? Bitching alone won't do it.

Anonymous said...

Tell me how is that possible? When we are paying people our tax dollar to do that for us. They came to us begging, saying they can do better, we gave them the chance, now they cannot do the job, so we will have no chose but to kick them out and put people who is ready to work.

Anonymous said...

Well, do that then and stop bitching in the mean time.

Anonymous said...

Do not try that when SLP was in office although they were working, these so called uwpeeeees was making a lot of noise. Now they are in office, and not performing some people want us to keep quiet. I do not believe that is possible. We are the ones paying these none performers, imagine the biggest project going on in St Lucia these days is STEP changed to HOPE. The SLP implemented STEP in St Lucia to create employment primarily for unskilled men and women to cut grass, clean and beautify the country like the beaches etc, whiles the skilled men founds jobs else where in the construction industry etc. These unskilled workers would find this moneys to take care of their children etc. Now the uwp with no ideas of their own, fired the poor unskilled workers, change the name from STEP to HOPE and employ some skill worker and a couple of unskilled workers to build drains and foot paths and that is the biggest project going on in St Lucia these days. Now the poor mothers are out of this programe completely. I remembered foot paths used to be a side thing done by the politicians just to gain votes, it was never the biggest project in the country. And you want us to keep quiet.

Anonymous said...

Here's an prime example of a nomological statement.

---Do not try that when SLP was in office although they were working---

Of course they were. Who would not work for themselves and their pockets?

Anonymous said...

That is all you gathered from passage, "SLP was working?" I agree with you they only worked for their pocket, but not every body will agree with you, and i will prove that to you. You must go to St Lucia and any unbias person will point to you all the work that was done by the SLP in 9 years. I also want somebody to point out to you the work that was done by the present uwp government in 3 years. SLP was only working for their pockets because after 30 years in office the uwp left the country in a mess. Imagine in 21 century when TNT has universal university education. The uwp could not even provide us with universal primary school education, muchless secondary school education, remember we had a shift system in Castries for primary schools. All other islands in the caribbean was on the map by hosting international sporting events to boast their tourism, after 30 years we had no international sporting grounds in St Lucia. We had a prison which was not fit for pigs to work in, muchless to house inmates. We had a mental hospital to housed our poor sick human beings, it was not fit for swine to be housed in, it was smelly, and was pest infested. Most of our police stations and fire stations were in the same mess. We never had a proper garbage disposal site in St Lucia, one would be driving yards on the Choc road and you would smell the garbage in the dump, which is supposed to be a tourism area etc, etc, I could go on and on. Who cleaned that mess we had in St Lucia? And somebody has the God given guts to say SLP only worked for their pockets.

Anonymous said...

You must be very sick to believe that everyone who makes a comment against the SLP do not live in St Lucia. There are plenty of large buildings in North Korea yet people are hungry. The SLP gave millions of dollars to their friends and you expect the rest of us to respect their performance?

Anonymous said...

Mental Hospital and Stadium- Thank you Brother George.

Cost over run- Credit Kenny with that.

Rochamel- Credit Kenny with that.

Prison- credit Kenny with that. What did it do- nothing. Did not curb crime. It is producing more hard core prisoners and rapist. Buldings without a plan do not solve crime.

How much income has the sporting facilities brought to the economy? Credit Kenny with more white elephants.

SLP is not the first that ever made mistakes with our finances and they will not be the last, i call it a mistake because we were supposed to get a hotel out of the deal to create employment for us, as a matter of fact we still got a hotel. I believe you are the only one, if you become leader of St Lucia who will never make a mistake. Did you remembered the UN funds scandals, did you remembered the Minister Fostin funds affair in the MC&W? etc, etc. Do you want more, did you remember the $50 million debt left in the SLBGA by the uwp, when millions was supposed to be coming into St Lucia every week. How do we ended up owing $50 million? I said you are not in St Lucia because only somebody who is not in St Lucia and who do not know or pretend not to know will say the SLP only worked for their pockets.

Anonymous said...

SLP is not the first that ever made mistakes with our finances and they will not be the last.

Guess what? Unlike u an apologist for failure, some of us us love our country enough to make it the last.

Anonymous said...

You're a political hack, I bet when u open your eyes first thing in the morning, all u see are the letters SLP and UWP.

Anonymous said...

What person in their right mind would tell voters the following. "Vote for the SLP at your own risk. We messed up last time and will mess up your finaance again if given a 2nd chance."

Anonymous said...

You're a political hack, I bet when u open your eyes first thing in the morning, all u see are the letters SLP and UWP.

No, when I open my eyes in the morning i see ST LUCIA and poverty all around me.

Anonymous said...

I see politicians and tricksters who do not deserve a 2nd shot at office.

Anonymous said...

The populace won't forgive the SLP for a while, St. Lucians who have been victims of theft also sees the SLP as thieves so it's psychological.

Anonymous said...

Communism condemned George Odlum to a life time of opposition in St Lucia. Rochemel and cost overrun is bound to do the same to Kenny and the SLP.

Anonymous said...

I agree!

Anonymous said...

Politicians have to understand that the taxpayers' money is sacred, it's like the 'Ark of the Covenant' and by touching it the wrong way, they are doomed to suffer the consequences.

Anonymous said...

So now we are crediting certain ministers for government projects, government does not work like that pal. Try you bluff some where else please, there are people who know right from wrong. Anytime a project is accomplished under what ever government, it does not matter which ministry did it, the whole government have to take praise or blame for it, because it was a cabinet discussion. George was part of the government, so he did nothing in isolation ok. Talking about cost over run, this is not the fist time a big project incur cost over run in St Lucia and it will not be the last, the difference is this is the first it was politicized so much. You remembered the millieum highway?(spelling). When SLP took over the project the money that was allocated was already finished so they had to find additional money to complete it. What was that, if not cost over run. We have two projects going on in St Lucia now, the public do not know the cost of none of these projects. I want you to find out the cost and how much that is already spent on the Allan Bousquet highway and the Marigot housing project. We cannot hide the cost over run. on these projects, because it is our money being spent. How ever say a prison will curb crime, tell me which prison anywhere in the world that has ever curb crime? Take your garbage some where else. The prison was built to secure the criminals, because in Castries the prisoners could have left when they wanted. Now we have the prison why can't the uwp provide us with a plan for it? Sporting facilities are not built primarily to create income, it is built to develope the talent of our youth and to build a strong and health population. Although by hosting international events at the facility, it will advertise the country internationally to boast tourism. You do not know the power of sports. You do not know how many more people visited Jamaica after Usane Bolt broke the records. You know how many people who will visit St Lucia after meeting Sammy? We have to stop that political nonsense about white elephants. Show me a white elephant in St Lucia. You mean St Lucia has so many facilities, some are left back and not being used? If we did not have the white elephant in VF, where would uwp house St Jude patients?

Anonymous said...

Please don't politicize St.Judes tragedy, it was a national tragedy which affected everyone.

Anonymous said...

Yes just take only one line from people contributions and take it out of context, you all must understand that we are not as foolish as when we were in the times of uwp/compton, now kenny provided us all with a secondary school place, we all could see black and white now, so do not try that.

Once again i've seen it. Politics is leaving us divided. In the meantime, a few fishing boats probably sneaked in from Martinique last night laden with guns and ammo. What will be our homocide figures for 2010? Heres my proposal. Forget about Red & Yellow for a minute. Can everyone please make a list of proposals that they believe will curb crime on the island. I will personally compile them and send them it to Government. when the next election comes and we don't support this one or that one, then we can say why that was. Atleast we can have one legitimate reason not to vote them in. We need to be strategic with our votes. Its time we make politicians work for US..THE ELECTORATE..I understand everyone's point of view, the anger, the frustration and the anguish...I don't see party colours. Only Policy and Performance can win my vote..Please take a stand against crime...lets leave out the politics for now....Feel free to send your crime reduction proposals to daprodigalson@yahoo.co.uk. Look out for my blog. coming soon.Weshallhop@googlemail.com will be the email address. Lets be proactive against crime. Already our economy can lose millions if the Norwegian Cruise Line pulls out. If other
Tour Operators follow suit...then 'we shall hop'. Its not only down to politicians to save our island, we must play our parts too...Lets do it together St Lucia...Lets pull together to apply the pressure where it matters, RED or YELLOW....

That is not the last thing i have to hear about Kenny, he kill somebody and police have nor arrested yet, so he is more lucky than Tucker, Frederick, Mondesir, Marcus and Estaphane all these guys have been charged or arrested by the police for crimes they comited. Is seem Kenny is above the law in St Lucia. That is not all i have to hear about Kenny, i will also hear Kenny cause to much rain to fall on St Lucia. Have you been to North Korea, i have not been so i do not know what North Korea type projects you are talking about. We always believe we are better than other people. I need to commend you Micah on such a thought provoking article. However, my opinion is that you may have shown a bit of political biase. In such dire situations we cannot take political stands or sides which will divide our people. The crime malady is OURS. Not UWP's or SLP's. The time has come for us to defend St.Lucia. Not Kenny nor King. Lets not create another Jamaica and make every event a political issue. Lets fight for St Lucia Micah. For Rose Hill, Leslie Land and the other areas plagued with crime. Lets fight for Marchand, where both you and I grew up. Lets make proposals, create a voice that must be listened to. We have got the power, lets use it. Lets take st Lucia back from the SHOTTAS...

Who ever said there is a stadium all over St Lucia? Both a tissue culture and a sport stadium are important to any country including St Lucia let us not be stupid. Not because the stadium was built by the SLP we should call it a white elephant. Although the tissue culture project came a little to late, it was needed more when bananas was in it prime.

That's how dictators operate, building huge things and neglecting the basics like North Korea etc...

Stadiums do not full empties bellies, this is the most dumb statement i have ever heard in my life. I will take you close to home. How many people that will ever become a millioniare{spelling) from the tissue culture project? Our Darren Sammy became one playing sports. We have many young people from St Lucia who received sports scholarships to study and become professional to feed their hungry bellies. There is a lot of pass sports men and women from St Lucia who is making a living as a result of playing sports. So if you do not know the value of sports , ask somebody to explain to you.

Those in power don't seem to mind and the others will just sit and wait for the next election...Wow...I refuse to accept that this is the level of intelligence of my people...no way...

Anonymous said...

I propose that we take money from VAT and hire more cops, to have social welfare so we can help the poor and needy (thereby reducing the need to steal), demolish the ghetto in Castries and build more affordable housing, that security is placed at all 'touristic' areas, that the opposition work with the government and not only oppose for opposing sake.

Stop importing every damn thing and start manufacturing more things within the OECS. Tourism is a very fragile industry and the OECS shouldn't depend soley on it.

Anonymous said...

Daprodigalson, there is nothing we suppose to tell these incompetent ministers we have in St Lucia they should not be able to figure out. They will NEVER take any advice because some of the ministers won the election with the help of the criminals and they still need the criminals to help them win again. If you are in St Lucia you should have known that by now. Do you think it is a very difficult thing to provide police protection around Castries, at lease when there are tourist boats in the harbor on a sunday, when the city is quiet? Do you believe it is a very difficult thing to regulate the fishing boat in St Lucia preventing them from leaving our shore at night with stolen goods to St Vincent, and returning with weed. Then leave for Martinique with weed cocaine and human cargo and return with guns, stolen goods and money. SLP started somethings, they build a proper prison, proper police stations, forensic lab, they hired and equiped the policemen etc. It is the turn of this government to continue doing their part. I do not believe it is so difficult to provide police protection at our tourism hot sports. When i was growing up at the Morne, they use to provide only one policeman or rural constable to protect the criminal from robbing the tourist on the Morne and that use to work.

Anonymous said...

You're still being political.

Anonymous said...

What is political ? Anytime one speaks the truth they are political. What is preventing the government from protecting a two by four country like St Lucia? It is time we start talking out. In St lucia everybody is afraid to speak out the truth, because of fear of victimization and we boasting that we are a democratic country. And we want to talking about Cuba, China and N Korea etc.

Anonymous said...

I meant speaking out.
