Hmm, new Sub Station for Rodney Bay. Gros Islet Police Station is less than 3 miles away. How do the people of Bexon or say Forrestiere cope? How far is the nearest Police Station to these communities? Are there Police Stations in these communities? What planet is Ezekiel on? He wants the Police to brain storm and come up with new ideas to combat the sophistication of the modern 'looshan gangster'. Ezekiel in case you did not know, what the Force needs is an influx of modern day Police training and resources, resources, resources. Not just brand new vehicles, but also an end to the amount of ridiculous and unnecessary red tape involved in the procurement of tools which can solve crime. Police detectives should not have to go to hell and back in order to acquire a piece of computer software which costs a little over $200 EC, but is an effective tool that can allow the Police access to computer files and hard drives of people under investigation. This is whats needed Ezekiel. Stop expecting the Commissioner and his poorly equiped and trained force to perform miracles. Once again common sense has not prevailed, whats even worse is the proposed site. When will we stop joking with our lives in St Lucia? When will we send a crew of atleast two dozen officers to the US and the UK to learn the skills needed to police our island. These newly trained officers can then come back and cascade their knowledge. The Police Force needs mordernisation and training. A new Police Station will not cut the mustard. Frankly, I just see that effort as a politically motivated power move. I challenge anyone to prove me wrong and see if there will be a reduction in crime in Rodney Bay. There was a sub station before, but Mr Chastenet kicked them out. Lets train our cops Ezekiel, not simply house them. Lets allocate real and meaningful budgets which will facilitate the real war on crime in St Lucia. Lets take to task the ministers of government who prefer the votes of criminals rather than for peace and love to prevail. The ones who can call up the hierarchy of the force and ask them to get the police removed from an area because not doing so will cost them their seat, come next election. Ezekiel, a new station should not be viewed as some sort of feather in your cap. When the Police Force receives the government's support which is required in order to make it effective in its war on crime, I will be the first to say'well done, long awaited and much needed change has come'. In the interim, we can only pray to the almighty and hope for the best.

What's this I hearing about them people over in New York. I hear government take money from treasury to fix helenites in Brooklyn. How comes they did not follow what these people did and let lucians over there take care of their situation. After all the bobol that happen over there how come King and company get stuck in that.

You need police on bicycles and walking around the area. How come those lazy police in lucia not riding bicycles

Seems like security in St Lucia can now be purchased by the wealthy. Safety is not a rite that comes to all Lucians. This sub station came strait out of the private Security that Spider muscled in on uninvited meeting held in Cap Estate recently where the prefered choice of dealing with security was to gate off Cap make it a private estate for the wealthiest and poice it with private armed guards who would throw any one out who had no "rite"to be there.
Lets not mistake this, the significant part is that as said the sub station was privately funded. As said safety for those who can afford to pay!

Listern, if government can't protect people,I have no problem with those who can affoard it paying to protect themselves.

The poor cannot afford to pay to protect themselves, that is not true they can afford because they are paying taxes and their taxes should be used to protect them.

Why couldn't Kenny do and why can't King do it?

Have you ever ask yourself this question?

sometimes i wonder whether those baffoons learn the basic thing in reading. "READ TO UNDESTAND". For the said idiot i am refering to, it is the resident of the area who foot the bill and not the government so if bexon or forrestere want they will follow suit. freaking turd.

Thank you very much previous anonymous. Sometimes these people don't read an article in its entirety and rather jump to ridiculous conclusions and start the political blame game.

One more police station anywhere is a plus for security and the fight against crime... The entire Force from the top of the chain of command really needs an infusion of of modern day police training and tools to fight crime.
Police / Community relations is essential...I certainly agree with Da Prodigal Son that we should send a crew of at least two dozen officers to the US and UK to learn the skills needed to police our island...let's just hope they all return. Someone also suggested in a comment that we need police on bicycles and walking patrolling the areas. This makes residents feel safe

I assume Rodney Bay is an affluent and business oriented community and the residents and business owners have contacts and resources to come together to finance this project which can be viewed as a model for Bexon and Forestiere and other less affluent communities to emulate and in a self help mode aggressively approach the authorities in Castries to doplicate the concept in their repective communities

To the anonymous idiot who referred to me as a freaking turd, your contribution to St Lucian life is quite obvious. Tell me something, who will pay the Police personnel stationed at this new site? I'm sure that this money will come from the taxes paid by the residents of Bexon, Forresterre etc. If we are allowed to fund our own security, then lets just make a collective order of Uzi sub machine guns and the armo to go with it. People like you will soon be singing a different song. Tanto tanto.

Nowhere in the article does it state that the residents of Rodney Bay will pay Police salaries and make pension contributions. If people want private security then they should pay for it lock, stock and barrel. The elitist attitudes of a couple of those who have left comments are in very poor taste. Living in Rodney Bay does not make you special or different. Just imagine driving through Bexon one Saturday night after a great session in Dennery. All of a sudden you're being carjacked, I'm sure that you would wish for a Police Station in Bexon. Lets be objective and not so selfish. I appreciate the fact that people want to feel safe, but being allowed to purchase Police protection via whatever means, sends a wrong message. The anonymous people who slated the prodigal son have no foresight. They probably live in Rodney Bay themselves. Instead of making positive contributions like he did, they criticise and insult him. No wonder st lucia is in this mess. Everyman for himself.

That was really funny...I was laughing profusely behind my computer monitor when I read this...."De fellas does drink.. You want dem to fall down?" ...typical St Lucian...That was funny...say dat in patois and it sounds even funnier.

Why you people be calling one another fools and idiots?

Lighten up St Lucians

De man is not a fool...Garcon dat was just humour...and to me it was something good it makes people laugh rather than make them angry.
