I think that the private sector should also contribute to the fund.

I cannot believe it, is that the biggest project a government we elected in office can come up with in the country? Just change STEP which the previous government implemented into HOPE and start building footpaths and drains. I do not know if i am seeing right but i have never seen such a long stair case without landings, correct me if i am seeing wrong. They say the programe is to have experience tradesmen to teach the inexperience ones. But everyone who has the slightest knowledge in construction will know that a stair case as long as that according to code must have landings. The purpose of landing is to provide rest to the people who use the steps. A landing is the flat surface of the staircase, which is larger than the other steps.

At lease steps that long should have rails, for the elderly, no landing no rails, nothing is done properly in St Lucia.

Not even the footpaths are done properly because footpaths should never be built as a continuos stripe of concrete. The footpath should be divided at every 4-5 feet with a flexable material or a horizontal grove to prevent the concrete from cracking in other places than the groves if there is some earth movements. Correct me if i am seeing wrong.

We should be wary of these desperate mediocre development that is happening in our country today. Concrete roads are dangerously slippery when wet, in slopes or hills when it is not done properly with the proper rough top surface.

Yep, STEP, all of the projects under STEP are taking place under hope, the only difference between the two is that hope has a bigger PR budget. I wish some of the STEP people who were absorbed in the public and private sectors would step up and say they are products of STEP. The should not have waited till 2009 to bring back STEP/hope. As long as people are working I am very happy. But we know hope more than anything else is a racket.
