I have been frequenting the island since 1984 and am very happy to say I have never once encountered a problem of any kind. I have stayed at hotels, apartments, guest houses and homes all of which were comfortable and I felt completely safe at all times. I have recommended the island to many friends who have also enjoyed their stays. Only one incident a couple of years ago occured when some friends were held at gunpoint and robbed. One was slightly hurt. It was a most unsettling experience and this couple have vowed not to return to the island. It makes me sad to think that this could happen on "my island". On the whole, I still love St. Lucia and will go on singing it's praises.
