Putting a new saddle on an old hag will not put it into the winner's circle. It's Mr. Mayer's job to recognize who has to be put out to pasture.

Finally a statement by the Minister of "Home Affairs" (What the hell is that nomenclature anyway?) why not Minister of National Security? "Home Affairs" gives the impression of someone sitting in a rocking chair in front of your TV making demands of your wife and kids.

Perhaps this is how the minister interprets it, hence his lacklustre (to be kind) performance, but I digress.

I agree with the editor that the minister must match his actions and that of his government to his rhetoric.
Giving the police an unrealistic goal of reducing crime by 50% without the necessary technical, capacity, and moral support is simply bombast and hardly inspires confidence among the police. Unrealistic goals serve as a disincentive to enhanced performance.

That however, should not be an excuse for the members of the force to sit back and let the crime situation worsen.

Now you have really committed yourself...hope you could back it up. Remember you are ONLY a Senator and King will used you and dispatch you like an old shoe. I hope you already have a plan of action...or did one of your staff members wrote that speech for you and you did browse through it before you made your big stand. Prepare to take the fall for the other Senator. You are a sitting duck. Now the Tourist Industry is in your hand. You better start packing your bag dude!!!
