As a Police officer, I am very much elated to hear over the TV/radios and read in the newspapers(media) that a government official in the person of Guy Mayers, Minister of Home Affairs and National Security have finally admitted to the fact, that government have failed to allocate sufficent resources into the Royal St. Lucia Police Force. I found that he was very brave in making that statement. I guess his cabinet colleagues will want to chastise him for exposing the government of the day, but the statement is a fact. So you see dear readers, all the time, blame were being levelled at the Police for not doing their jobs. I am not saying that the police is free from blame altogther, however, the bottle necks was with the government. I hope the prouncement are not being made now because election is round the corner and the Minister want to gain votes, but that he is serious about what he said. I will be waiting with bated breath to see that came to fruition.
Secondly, providing all available resources to the Police is not all that we need to solve the upsurge in crime. We need the continued support of the government as well as all citizens(MKA).
