she is not a hack. Majorie is only fight for her rights as a St Lucian. How comes some of you did not support her in her rally? Where were you?

There's a history to that piece of land behind her,the road through it and the lease on the beach. Where else would a citizen get a lease on the Queen's Chain?

And isn't it ironic that during the demonstration last December, people were holding signs demanding to give us back the beach while they were, in fact, demonstrating in support of a private lease on that beach?

Oh, and Micah George, what does "air marked" mean?

SHAME ON THE SAINT LUCIA BAR ASSOCIATION

I am very sympathetic to Majorie's cause but with the absence of a Social Resposibility Organization equipped with lawyers to represent struggling people like Majorie Lambert. When a St Lucian with limited ressources has a problem and needs support and assistance they go to the government and if unsuccessful they not satisfied with the outcome their next and only option is to approach the opposition party. The opposition whether it is Red or Yellow where heartless politicians with the ultimate goal of winning elections and grabbing power, use these people as pawns in their political chess games. Majorie Lambert and this is just another example.

The Saint Lucia Bar Association which comprises a male dominated group of puffed up lawyers who make most if not all their living (Dollar BILLS)on the backs of poor St Lucians has the moral responsibility to give back to these people like Majorie and Cynthia Vallasse by representing them and finding solutions, negotiating deals where their livelyhood and lives as in the case of The Debarras Mom can be restored.

It is sad to read about Cynthia Vallasse who is desperate to restore her life and sanity while these hypocrites and parasites turn their heads the other way...

The rust of their silver and gold shall devour their flesh.

To the first commentator above, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!! You accuse the poor lady of being a HACK, yet you yourself say, immediately afterwards, that the SLP women's platform left a lot to desire, and that you wouldn't let your daughter listen to the SLP women's platform, because of the cheqeuered past of the SLP women. Who therefore is the HACK, if not you, you shameless HACK!!! Pot calling kettle black!!!
Donna.

Most lucians will remember a similar incident a few years ago, when a farmer in Black Bay tried similar tactics to stop a major hotel development that would have generated hundreds of jobs. The SLP was then in office and was determined not to let this one individual derail the national good. By allowing this lady (who doesn't own the land on which she operates) to speak on its platform, the SLP is again showing its hypocrisy and double-standards. We need to hear the GOvernment's side of this story. Over to you, LeBourne.

Don't care what platform Majorie speaks from. As a St. Lucian I am fed up with the Tourism industry and the sacrifices we are making to see these people come here and have little impact on the progress of our people. We having less and less places to go and are getting poorer and poorer and the governments past and present has failed to integrate our culture with the overall tourism product, they are instead pushing us aside because they believe the tourists are not interested in getting to know the people and their culture.

Hotel/modern plantation owners are the ones making all the money. And how much do they give back?

I do not beleave that anyone from our soil should be kicked out of anywhere, i will always stand on the side of the people. Befor she is removed i would think an alternative was established, we must uphold self preservation. The financial future of our people must alwasy set presidence.

The Cotton Bay resort created a lot of jobs during construction. Still many people are employed in this resort. Marjorie could have foreseen
years ago that you cannot continue with an ugly schack. She should have come up with brighter plans. Nothing is forever.

She should have asked her regular customer and girlfriend Amy Whinehouse for help! Amy has plenty of money. Nice modern jazz bar on the beach. "Marjorie's and Amy's Joint"

Really? Hotels create a lot of jobs? The same hotels that pay locals minimum wage and take the rest of the money back to their foreign lands while avoiding taxes? The same hotels you would not see a single local ad for unless you went into the tourist board to see what weekend deals they have. The same hotels that have no local sponsorships on the island? The same hotels that pump absolutely none of their profits that were made on the backs of our people into our lands, lands sacrificed to them and they spend the bare minimum to help develop the island?

We might as well go back to working the sugar plantations, nothing has changed.

Zeigy, maybe not you, but somebody must benefit, or else why would government ministers love to negotiate with rich foreigners?

Zeigy said...

Okay, so we are attracting the rich foreigners to our island. So what is the next plan of action? They are here now. How is the island developing?

I want to see a Singapore model implemented on our island.

Poverty and access to education has been the main cause of forcing people into starting up their own businesses. The Government have been use to having their own way for decades. In the olden days our grand parents and great grand parents had little or no education and this created the opportunity for ministers to take advantage. I have experienced a great deal of poverty simply because all my grand parents hard work was taken away from our generation by political members. My brothers were threatened for picking fruit on their "birth right" property by the politician who got away with my families inheritance. This is our land, i visit St Lucia, walk past and see the daughter of this politician with a big house on the land and she behaves like she paid for it. The politician is a smart man, he has only used and sold off some of the property because he knows the law and i now know the law. The property is inheritance property different laws apply. he is putting on foot in one foot out simply because he know my father has children, i have kids and this estate of Cas- en - bar belongs to us and hopefully we will get our property back.If my generation don't get it our children will. The Government has seen an chance to develop Cas-en-bar and make money for themselves, but why without Marjorie? she in not in the way of business she is in their way. This is a chance for them to give and make deals with friends so they can benefit. this has nothing to do with setting back St Lucia's development.
