Pelay, Boy, I know exactly how you feel. I too was a victim of the SLP's dishonesty. My experiences will be recorded in my nearly completed Memoire!

"Err", I know you a long time; if that's what it takes for you to lose respect for the SLP, then you had very little respect left for them in the first place.
I wish to concur with a caller on newsspin that the word (honesty) that was illiminated and which you agreed to six years ago has a mirror understanding of the word "digity". So in a sense it was verbosity. However if you were so passionate and truly distressed about your 'valuable word' then certainly it wouldn't take you that long to voice your displeasure.
In my view, your purpose of this article is to remind & reiterate your contribution to the pledge. Thank you very much and we got the message.

Pelay...you are on stage now. Now is your turn to usher your grips against the SLP...Is it because the SLP honoured St. Lucia's best Calypsonian Invader with the Piton Cross over you that you have issues with the SLP...
After all your criticizing the SLP still chose your -"whatever it was" that you wrote. You hero John Compton would have dumped it in the trash.

"honesty" and "dignity" mean the same thing????? I don't think so, but apparently "stupidity" and "SLP" do.

national pledge of trinidad
THE PLEDGE
By Marjorie Padmore

I solemnly pledge
To dedicate my life
To the service of my God
And my country.
I will honour
My parents, my teachers,
My leaders and my elders
And those in authority.
I will be Clean and honest
In all my thoughts,
My words and my deeds.
I will strive In everything I do
To work together with my fellowmen
Of every creed and race
For the greater happiness of all
And the honour and glory
Of my country.

a lot of similarities.
pelay stop fooling. same way u wrote a song about party symbols , saying a condom would be a fitting symbol for political parties. this is a popular joke in trinidad.
get real an original. stop being petty.

I'm sorry Jeff but you have it wrong. While I have no problem with you expressing your concern and i agree with you its always the right thing to speak up even when people refer to you as lang kaka, but as a prolific writer you should check your dictionary or google "meaning of honesty" and see the following.
Honesty 1
Definition: Honor; honorableness; dignity; propriety; suitableness; decency.

This is from one of the websites.

http://ardictionary.com/Honesty/4160

Definition: hon·es·ty [ ónnəstee ]
noun

1. self-respect: a proper sense of pride and self-respect

2. seriousness in behavior: seriousness, respectfulness, or formality in somebody's behavior and bearing

3. worthiness: the condition of being worthy of respect, esteem, or honor

4. due respect: the respect or honor that a high rank or position should be shown

5. high office: a high rank, position, or honor

Definition: dig·ni·ty [ dígnətee ]
noun

1. moral uprightness: the quality, condition, or characteristic of being fair, truthful, and morally upright

2. truthfulness: truthfulness, candor, or sincerity
If you have one you dont need the other.

I'm sorry, Joseph, but you have it wrong. Those definitions aren't on ardictionary.com, and I think you have them backwards anyway.

Let's go to the definitive source: the Oxford Dictionary

honesty: being honest

honest: 1. fair and just in character or behaviour, not cheating or stealing.
2. free of deceit and untruthfulness, sincere.

dignity: 1. a composed and serious manner or style.
2. the state of being worthy of honour and respect.
3. worthiness, excellence
4. a high or honourable rank or position.
5. high regard or estimation.

I still insist that the bottom line about Jeff's article is not about the word: "honesty". His headline reads: "Lost Respect for the SLP" (six years later). The implication here is to impact dirt on a government that is not in power. That is POLITICAL!! It's a selling game.
The same thing Rick does to sell his papers. An attractive heading without substance.

Its either you can't search or you have a motive. Are you saying that "Dignity" which stands for honor is not repeatative when used following honesty or vice versa?
Look lets stop playing partisan politics with the issue and consciously educate our people. and you folks wonder why the young ones settle their differences with the knife, cutlass and gun? Its because of people like you.

I'm definitely not Joseph said...

Joseph,
It's either you are stupid or you have a motive. Are you saying that honour and honesty are the same thing?
Look lets stop playing partisan politics with the issue and accept that you are not qualified to talk about educating our people. and you folks wonder why the young ones settle their differences with the knife, cutlass and gun? Its because of stupid people like you.

Zapon to think you would go there with this is extremely sad. You can see you are not familiar with the work I do in trying to ensure that my fellow calypsonians reach the top. Do you actually believe that a man in my position would hold a grudge against the SLP for honouring De Papa with a Medal of Merit (Gold)? If so then why did you not say the same about Leen and Pep, two persons who were from my Tent. Do you really believe that a man like me who has achieved so much, would begrudge another of my fellow calypsonians for their achievements, which is what you making this out to be. In case you do not know Zapon here are the achievements I have received thus far in my life, and tell me if I should have any problems with the SLP for honouring one of our own.
Calypso Monarch: 1969,1970,1971,1972,1978,2003. Road March titles: 1969,1978.
Soca Monarch: 1997.
Accolades: 1. St. Lucia Music Hall of Fame. 2. Baron Foods/St. Lucia Calypsonians' Association Hall of Fame. 3. St. Lucia Piton Medal(Silver). 4. The Belgrave Lifetime Achievement Award for Music. 5. St. Lucian Calypsonian of the 20th Century.Eh, eh..does this prove that I was the best? 6. The National Action Cultural Committee of T&T Award for the development of Calypso Music and the Arts in St. Lucia. 7. Honoured by The Sunshine Awards Committee of New York for my contribution to the Calypso Art Form. 8. recognized by the O.E.C.S Organization of New York as one of the Legends of Calypso & Soca Music in the O.E.C.S. 9. Awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for music by the St. Lucia Music Awards Committee. 10. Received an MBE for my contribution to music in St. Lucia and my work with persons with daiabilities. And next week I will again be recognized as one of the Iconic Persons who have help shaped our Country. Oh, oh, oh, I forgot. Author of our National Pledge, which is what has caused you to write the crap you have written here. There is too much on my little shoulders Zapon, for me to have issues with anyone for not giving me more. Just take what I have published and study it properly, and stop protecting politicians, as they probably do not even know if you had dinner tonight.
