Mr Josie: I am able to help the situation with the cricket field. As an Agronomist trained in these matters I can prepare programming to restore the vigor of the grass on the field. Furthmore, I have worked in St. Lucia in the past so I know the country well enough to help, if you want. hummel.intl@gmail.com
Ah Peter not too bad a real shift from your usual a*s kissing letters I agree heads must roll but as you know election time is nearly here so nothing will be done for fear of losing votes. This a very bad situation we face in these small islands. We tend to let bad workmanship and neglect go unpunished for fear of loosing a vote. When I saw the ground I could not believe it-the persons in charge must have seen it long ago. Well what can I say this is St.Lucia! Well like you said the three top dogs in West Indies cricket are Lucians two I am very proud of but the third Mr. Sammy is way out of his league. The guy is useless as a bowler/batsman/and worst, captain. He is a let down "BIG TIME". Very soon he will ride into the sunset of his cricketing days-like after the Indian tour. Sammy the only fame you will have after you are dropped from the team is that you were the first Lucian to play for West Indies and the shortest serving captain. Use your dollars to improve the DUGAR community.
There is no West Indies nation so it is pointless to look for a West Indies team. Next, cricket is a dying game. We can get greater fame and fortune in other sports. It is time to introduce baseball. That is where the money is. When the bottom has dropped out of the cricket bucket they give it to poor St. Lucians to go and fetch water with it.
Number 2 contributor, you should be ashamed of yourself to go at Sammy in that way. But this is the St. Lucian culture: slash and burn. Sir Garfield Sobers once scored a first ball duck and you know what the Bajans said? This was the best duck ever scored.
Sammy has been a self less captain. He has been sacrificing his batting for the team because he always comes in at a desperate time. Sammy is the only batsman who has shown scant respect for the Pakistani bowlers. And he has their bowlers all over the place. Why don't you say let us rally for Sammy. There is a poison which is destroying St. Lucia and it is in the air: It is called Jealousy.
In St Lucia, if you are ONLY trying to achieve something to better your self, rest assured that you will, NO DOUBT, be pulled down by our own country folks - sad, but very true.
Thus, I keep away from Lucians. Only exhibiting niceties and civility, that's all...
Thank you Peter In 1972 I had to travel to Barbados to watch a cricket match , cause we had no facilities then. Now that we have our own , please lets keep it up.
Anonymous # 2 I "second de motion" on Josie. For the first time, in a DAMN LONG TIME, Josie has written something where he is not just KISSING UWP BUTT as usual. Good article, Peter. Let's see if you can keep in that vein. You should realise that no decent Lucian really expects you, a radical of the 70s, to go around butt-kissing so that you can be appointed on a few Boards. Anonymous # 2, SHAME ON YOU for your pathetic DISSING of Sammy. What was the point of that? Some misguided jealousy? Man give Sammy a break, and let's pray instead that the young man gets up his game, instead of kicking him into the gutter. Let's do away with this shameless Lucian MAL PARLANT attitude. Donna.

Sadly, this is why to keep their sanity, many St Lucians end up living abroad, always hoping to come home some day when things change.
