St Lucia Receives World Bank Rating As Top CARICOM Island For Doing Business

Yeah man! That's right. But only as long as you are in the narcotics industry. You got a top lawyer in government to defend you if you get caught, his police on your side, and a large number of his hungry goons looking for quick and easy money. That gave St. Lucia 4.4 % GDP growth last year. Business prospects are looking better come next year, unless the US calls for the chief goon's extradition.

@1, the underground economy is the #1 business and growth sector in St. Lucia. The UWPossie sent their rep to parliament. He is looking for more clients and sellers. He is in business. Like a good store help, it is always 'can I help you?'.

Pm King anounces that he's going to address the nation and then he comes on the air to campaign. Is his platform not the place for that kind of speech? I understand why NTN would not broadcast this address. The pm, like any other person, has a right to address the nation on any subject, but it's wrong to use state resources to push the agenda of his political party.

This article is a determined ploy to deceive the electorate. However, businesses and investors including the general public know otherwise.

Who puts King up to these foolishness? King and the rest of his UWPs beat their chest about this report, but let us take a look at the reasons for that position Exchange rate stability.
- A relatively diversified economic base.
- Moderate Balance of Payments Per-formance; and - Relatively low external debt and adequate import cover. What does any of these condition have to do with any action taken by this administration? They made so much noise about dept in the last election campaign, but today when dept to GDP has grown from 61% to 68% they are beating their chest saying that things are good because of this report.

No.1 for doing business?

where is the proof of this when foreign direct investment has completely dried up and quite credible investors have some rather gory stories to tell about attempts at requesting bribes and extortion by certain now notorious ministers?

Local business people as well have had more than their fair share of this inept charade that passes for governance and cannot conceivably be conducive to business by any account.

The indicators and parameters used just do not mirror the real world - I'm so sorry!

Am glad that our people cannot be bought or sold on this Voodoo Economic Just Does't add up base on past comments and statement.
Am Happy to know that our people are knowledgeable and realize we are now in an age of Information and Enlightement. They can't be fool, No More Bouteille Noir.

Oh boy! the Labourites are in denial. It wasn't just one agency that ranked St.Lucia tops; it was several of them; from the local to the international.
Remember, 'don't fix it, if it ain't broke'. And right now St.Lucia ain't broke, so don't mess with the current government.

Adjustments to make the government better, YES; but to change it, NO.

The journalists like King are grappling with more lies and statistics. Any intelligent or straight-thinking st. lucian knows that the underground economy which permeates at the highest levels is what is truly sustaining saint Lucia and sadly, the ghetto youths are paying for it with ounces of their blood shed day by day. As a so-called middle class person now who knows how it is to be poor my heart feels for them as they bleed to death and men at the top control the huge coffers and hide behind business fronts. Young people of the ghetto wake up!they using your blood and dignity, but you have the POWER to STOP IT!!

Yes indeed, it is very clear for all of us to see, that somebody at the EASTERN CARIBBEAN CENTRAL BANK located in St. Kitts, is VERY BUSY ensuring that KENNY ANTHONY and the LABOUR PARTY does not return to Government.

Let the people decide. Not any bloody Institution with their dubious agenda for self-aggrandisement, self-promotion, and for their OWN personal selfish objectives.

Time will tell, and very soon. All Actors are in the Script.

St. Lucians are not as blind or daft as some of those hooligans in high places believe. We will have the last laugh.

Is there someone at the World Bank some woman eyeing a BIG JOB as Minister of FINANCE in Saint Lucia, in the Stephenson King Administration?

I am told Yes Siree.

All hands on deck to keep King and the UWP in. But the people will have the final say.

The Voice of the people, is the voice of Jehovah.

Blogger above. Not necessarily. I heard that someone at the ECCB Central Bank is under tremendous pressure and is being ready to be kicked out, and busy trying to fit into the OECS Secretariat, and at the same time, busy trying to push a woman at the World Bank in at the ECCB. In much the same way, a woman from the ECCB with "friendly" ties within found herself as an Ambassdaor in the Stephenson King Government.

They truly know how to plot in and out. But in all of this, the people will have the last say.

Not too long from now.

Whenever the GDP is revised upwards, and the technocrats CANNOT give a very sound and CLEAR explanation why they changed the methodology ... COCO MAKAK!

The officials in the ECCB are bringing this institution into disrepute. If they stats prove ever to be biased politically, heaven help them!

Already we NEED our own home-grown technical team to produce timely and relevant stats for control of key areas of our economy. ECCB published information on the economy is very suspect. Everybody knows that the revised GDP figure was made for the benefit of the ruling party.

St.Lucia got good marks, so it must be a World Wide Conspiracy to keep the UWP in power.
You Labourites should be ashamed of yourselves.
What on earth cry-baby Kenny can do for St.Lucia that King cannot do, and better?

Anonymous said...

Blogger above, time alone will tell. So just keep holding on to your breath.

King is paying individuals who were recorded as incompetent, could not deliver as civil servants, ain't know their ass from their feet and paying them big bucks as consultants?

And who is behind that. All will be out. Very, very soon.

Yeah right FAT-FACE Lebourne, you are truly shameless!!!!!!! The World Bank names St. Lucia as number one CARICOM island for doing business, yet your UWPwee Guavament has not produced ONE NEW JOB in 5 years? What does that say about the UWP guavament? FAT-FACE, tell KING KONG CALL DE ELECTIONS NOW. Lucian taxpayers are WASTING precious money on your salaries. Go look for REAL WORK somewhere, and see if ANYBODY, ANYWHERE, will employ you and KING KONG!!! And by the way, the farmers asked me to remind you that they will be demanding their money that you T..f as soon as you lose this useless PRO job of yours. Tanto tanto. JACQUOT.

Shame on you Lucians! You all do not know what you want. All you do is sit back on your asses and whine, whine, Whine. Can't you all forget politics for a second and be happy when you get good news about your Country? If it were bad news you all would be here making the same stupid comments. Be proud that investors are still willing to risk their investments on St. Lucia despite the economic situation around the globe!!! The world does not revolve around YOU!!!
