LPM Deputy-Leader Resigns

She was the Deputy Leader of a political organization, the LPM. Now, only 5 months after the elections, she is already the leader of a non-political organization. Where is the commitment? Suppose she had won the Castries Central seat for the LPM, and had therefore become a parliamentarian, what would she be telling her constitutents right now? Does Ms. Brown know what she really wants to do? That's why I always warn my people that they have to study people WELL, when they come wearing their political colours. Looks like the LPM will soon be just another ONE-man Party like Azi's Party. We'll be looking out to hear what you have to say in the next 4.5 years Ms. Brown. TP.

This chick looks like she just want to hug the limelight. Today you in a party and tomorrow you don't know where you going? Up to now I am not sure what this chick is trying to promote. Choops!

I kinda think that this tells you more about the leadership than the lady. If she got so far why leave? On the other hand, was her safety threatened by the thugs supporting a well-known drug lord?

Anonymous said...

She's cute!

Have anyone of you guys ever heard of the word 'choices'? Let the lady follow her dreams, there will be other followers of TP.

Anonymous said...

No. How long can you 'lead' like ONE. Where have you ever heard of a leader who does not have followers? Did the election in Gros Islet prove that? LPM never got off the ground. It was dead soon after it was born,

It’s a democracy and everyone have choices. Ms. Browne leaving LPM is not the end of the world. It happens all the time. What I would be shock about is if a seasoned political veteran like Prudent would suddenly say he is throwing in the towel because his party lost an election. If this were to happen I don’t think that I could ever again have the kind of respect that I currently have for him although I did not support the LPM.

I applaud his effort and hope that in the next elections he is able to present a better slate of candidates to the electorate. I believe this gentleman have a lot to offer the country.

Brown's involvement with the LPM seemed designed to bolster her own public image, preparation for the establishment of her own NGO, for self-employment.
The hitherto unknown Castries resident now feels confident enough to move on to "greener pastures".

I agree with Ms. Browne, The LPM isn't going anywhere and how can the leader of a party who hopes to be PM not reside in SLU.

Ms. Browne is fully employed as a lecturer at UWI so money can't be the issue.

Lucians should be proud that someone is willing to give of herself resources and time to assist the youths of St. Lucia.
We Lucians like to talk the talk but not walk the walk and Ms.Browne has acted by creating an NGO and is prepared to walk the walk.

Lucians stop being so negative and applaud Ms. Browne's effort to make a meaningful contribution.

More papishow. The more things change is the more it remains the same. Just another chapter in the life of an another politician. Thank god i did not waste my vote.

I think that there are just two people left in that party. Both of them are overseas. How can these two people ever get voters to vote for them. They are part-time politicians.

Our Caribbean youths need guidance. Crime and violence amongst themselves continue to rise. Hopefully this NGO can lay the foundations for mentoring youths within every constituency in St.Lucia(oops:)) and other regional countries(CARIBBEAN MENTORING INSTITUTE- CMI). I have created a branch in Barbados and hoping to reach five more islands by 2014.
I believe that if this mentoring program can change the life of one youth, then the process of change is inevitable.
The LPM will always remain strong in the minds of people for wanting change. Keep Focus as we try to uplift and develop our Caribbean nations and the world.
"Forward ever, backwards never."
email- info@caribbeanmentors.org if you have an interest to assist.

Mentoring is very easily preached but not very easily implemented and managed. Many persons may have good intentions but not everyone can be a mentor especially an effective one.

This initiative is a good that MUST be developed and managed with very effective leadership and expertise; otherwise it can have serious latent or intended negative consequences especially on mentees.

...correction - Should read unintended negative consequences,

Nobody should really question the importance of guidance, and mentoring for our young people. We most definitely need POSITIVE role models, and not the drug lords, jailbirds and absolute idiots that St. Lucians continuously and repeatedly vote for as representatives of themselves. What a drag! Good going girlfriend!

Before you'll put me to bed with this undefined mission I have a question.

Can a habitual ganja smoker a serve as a mentor for young people?

Do you know how many fog heads in this world trying to set example for the our youth?

Can someone who drinks rum on the weekend but look streight on Monday set an example for our youths?

What is it you'll trying to do here. God I am confused.

Don't delude yourself the LPM unlike one have its supporters. It would be premature to pull the curtain on their party because Browne chose to resign. I don't think this is enough to kill the LPM. A Party is always bigger than one person.

I heard their spokesman Mr. Alphonse on the radio this morning. What he had to say on the budget was enlightening.

Anonymous said...

Did you notice at the party's web site that LPM charges a fee for a "membership" card and if you break the policies you could be fined grossly.
How this will work with Looshans?

Youth mentoring is always a good initiative but is Ms. Brown aware that the Ministry of Youth Sports stated that they have plans to implement a national youth mentoring program?

Would she be willing to work with the experts as well who are alligned to that program in the Min. of Youth & Sports that the Minister spoke of at the Youth Awards?

Anonymous said...

Bingo!! Someone told me this Chick was in search of a job and it look like they were right.

She come up with all this "CMI" thing to mask her true intention. Everybody now a days is about what they can get.

"Everybody now a days is about what they can get."

They don't get anything.

Anonymous said...

Most of those so called politicians are opportunist anyway. They hop around like grasshoppers in search of personal opportunity and fame.

Anonymous said...

It is obvious that the Ministry's intended National Youth Mentoring Program will be of priority over an NGO that seems to be undecided about the way forward.

I do recommend that persons wishing to work on behalf of the youth, that is, if they are sincere, to engage in collaborative efforts to ensure that the target group (youth) be the true beneficiaries of any youth program.

I was think the same. NGO means non governmental organization. It's like a social or cultural club. This is private and separate from the trappings of government. I don't understand how an NGO becomes a government body.

Anonymous said...

Alphonse may well join the SLP, or the UWP. Both parties need a credible finance spokesperson inside of their parties.

Anonymous said...

The way I heard Alphonse on the Radio this morning this fella is staying put inside the LPM. He does not come across like a monkee see monkee do politician to me.

Anonymous said...

Then Prudent's job is on the line because Prudent can not speak to the finance and taxation issues like Alphonse can. Neither is Kenny and don't even talk about that law clerk who was in Compton's office. That man does not know bull foot from bull cow when it comes to economics.

Anonymous said...

Would you like to Obama the leader of the free world to your list? How many great leaders of the world were economic majors? Apart from King - Dr. Anthony has served in the capacity of a Manager and I would say the same for Prudent who I work with years ago.

The Lady can still influence politics on the island,if she chooses too, without being an official in a political party. To take issue with her career path is just foolish.

Anonymous said...

Eh, eh. Obama is controlled by the Tea Party Republicans in the US, is hemmed in by the Fed, is made to look silly by the Right Wing packed GOP Supreme Court. You talking about apples and oranges.

I believe that you only have to look at the civil service's lack of financial expertise to see massive financial blunders by both Kenny and King. Eh, eh. You seem to take all kinds of management experience as being the same.

Both Kenny and King know only one kind of financial management, which is how to squander other people's money. Rochemel cost St. Lucians $45 mil. and Black Bay $58 mil. That's a lot of screaming financially management in a poor country. St. Lucia has a history of very stupid PMs playing roll and tumble with real money as if they are playing the game called monopoly.

How many of us would be brave enough to face such a challenging election? I applaud Mrs. Browne for taking that step in helping our country especially the youth that needs guidance and who knows; they might one day be the next St. Lucian PM.

She is indeed a humble person. I have been following her during the election, the way she connected with the community and even after election she was still in the community asking “how can I help”. How many Politicians do that? Some individuals are very quick to criticize her for resigning from the LPM but never applauded her for taking a bigger step in helping our people, especially the youth.

She has her head on her shoulder, has opened CMI in Barbados and great lecturer at UWI and now she is trying to help us, her own people........with all that, it still not satisfying to others. St. Lucian lets stay away from the negativity and help each other for a better St. Lucia. I am proud of Mrs. Browne, continue to help our country!!!!

She came this far........running against well-known politicians. Was her safety been threatened????

St. Lucians hate decency. They harbour jailbirds, crooks, scoundrels, moomoos and dummies. They elect those to parliament all the time. We even had a drunk saying that politics is not for nice people. Dummies cheered when they heard that fool say this.

Ms. Browne you made the right decision. St.Lucia need people like you to help this divided country. I have been waiting you from your first public speech in the blvd... and you rose against all odds. Dont worry- you have your supporters with or without those guys. You're young but very powerful for a small lady:) Remember that people will always see the negative without recognizing what is truly important. I admire your courage.

I hear that another shoe is about to drop from the LPM group. An alliance with ONE looks to be gaining ground.

LPM need to be more proactive in St Lucia. I applaud this lady for wanting to do something rather than the other politicians that only speak around election time. Good going.
