Government’s Offer Rejected

I heard the PM on TV and he says he doesnt want to go the way of Antigua [ laying off public servants ] Sad so Sad. If he had said cut backs have to be made closure of overseas missions etc I could understand but to threaten people this way is going to lead to trouble.. Do as I say but not as I do. The rooster is home roost so we can get a 30% raise but the general workers 0.0.0 . Its very simple pay the people their request is very reasonable. Cut back on Government spending and cut out all the travel and speaking. Missions come back for a couple years till things settle down. Takes a big man to do what is right.

Both the GNT's offer and the TUF's are utterly ridiculous if you ask me. The last administration already made a grave error in offering the teachers salry increases that the government could not afford and to add more to the already burgeoning public sector wage bill will cause St. Lucia further down the precipitious slope. A reasonable salary increase would be 2%, 2.5%, 2.5% respectively.
One must be mindful that most or if not all public sector wages have to be paid with borowed money.
It would be nice if the TUF could get what they percieve to be a reasonable offer but the economic reality cannot bear it. It would be in their best interest to accept what is feasible without having to suffer layoffs.

i thought the 2012 budget stated that 48 cents of every dollar would be directed to public worker wages. PLUSSS, what about the cheque from ROC that had the PM smiling? the g'ment can raise the wages of its servants...

Now is the time KING, make the statement.. strike, strike, strike. We want another election. I regret voting for whoever I did!! KING is said to have been a soft PM, and his attitute would never have him treat St. Lucians in this fashion. it's an insult, disrespectful and could not be forgiven!! We want another election! Let's put King back in power! Better days my arse!!!

I agree with the above... we want another election!!! What's the process to call for another election? Could anyone explain it to me? Because right now I have more than 1000 petitioners ready to get their thumbs red.. or blue again!!

I for one regret my Vote. Got caught up in all those lies and deceit however, who ever it is to start the ball rolling i am with you. This man is vindictive. Giving free money to political hacks and threatening public servants? Who the f$ck Kenny Anthony think he is. He could start cutting by getting rid of all those political appointees in the public service but i am not going bulge on my 16% pay raise. If you cant run the country get the F$ck out because as idiotic you made King to look, he is now looking like a Messiah. Not once i heard he had to borrow to pay salaries or not once the atmosphere was tainted as it is.

Socialist/Liberal/Progressive governments have Unions as one of their key support groups.
Even if the negotiating unions in this case want to put on the facade of neutrality they are vital supporters at the ballot box and with personell at elections.

This pantomime that is going on therefore is a fraud - just a game.

the union leaders will meet behind closed doors with their socialist governmeny friends , work out some agreement and hand it to the members.

This is a guarantee and will be organized as if the Labour Government is SO conerned in light of a bad economy.

By early next year ther will be an agreement so do not waste your time reading any articles about an impasse between Govt and unions.

There is none. This will all be worked out by these compatriots in crime and the people will be the ones screwed with more VAT and more government spending.

After all - what else does Kenny know.

Alright! Will the little children Please leave the room?

If we have mature adults remaining, then we can proceed and the parties, civil society and the government in a tripartite set of negotiations agree the following:

1. Agree a salary increase based on national productivity gains.

2. Agree a salary increase based on teacher recertification based on success on qualifying exams, or university certification on Applied Mathematics and/or IT.

3. Agree an average 2 percent annual raise front-loaded, say for a three-year period: 3 percent in the first year, 1.5 in the second year and 1.5 in the third year.

4. Agree future salary increases based on productivity gains and mastery of some very significant Mathematics and IT knowledge gaps in the teaching profession, dispensing with automatic increments.

It is about time that teachers stop recycling old information and thus keep dumbing-down the youth.

Smart-ass adult above, will you or can you respond to just any one or just one of the issues presented above?

Why don't you stop behaving as if you depend on the bounty rum or ganga to assist in clearing your thoughts on serious issues.

Sooner than later we will have to stop our foolishness of just looking at matters from the standpoint of who is power and come to grips with the real issues facing the country.

Other people from other countries will not do this for us.

The political and ignorant crap that comes from people who happen to bubble to the top like the two guys we had in the last administration are cases in point.

Crap is crap. Suck it up!

Read and educate yourself at the personal level about negotiations, and the economy, and stop talking crap like our talk show hosts, for God's sake!

Damn it! It is high time that we look at the issues facing the future of the god-damn country much more seriously.

government can give WASCO 12%, TOURSIT BOARD AS WELL. but the essential servants namely NURSES, DOCTORS, POLICE MEN CANT GET AN INCREASE IN THEIR SALARY???? HOWEVER U WANT TO INCREASE UR SALARY TO 30% .THEREFORE, THE COUNTRY IS NOT SO DAMN AS MENTION. DO LIKE JAMAICA GOVERNMENT WHERE ALL MINISTERS TOOK A PAY CUT DUE TO MONEY ISSUES!!!!
THAT'S A GREAT IDEA.
SO INCREASE OUR SALARY. I KNEW BETTER I WASN'T FOOLED BY THE CATHY PHRASES I KNEW FACTS.
