Earl, please accept with gallantry my most profound gratitude for this beautiful eulogy for our friend, Mr. Jn Marie. My condolences to Evariste, Richard, Chris, their sister and the boys at Paul's. Pel.

"I am disgusted by falsehood and pretense and masquerading." Who do you think you're fooling you dirty lying bastard, Peter Josie? You are "disgusted by falsehood", yet you have been groveling all over the place like the beggar that you are, saying that a dishonest, false, crooked person, and a bloody notorious aider and abettor of tax evasion like Allen Chastanet should be our next Prime Minister? Man, I am amazed that St. Lucians do not kick you when they see you on the streets. Even the Carl Pilgrim you spoke favourably of today would have no time for the likes of a lying, begging, groveling, pretending, supper-singing political prostitute like you, Peter Josie. Go hide in a corner, you rotten old egg.

It is obvious that you are one of these souls deluded by the Life of this World. This delusion is a trademark of the victims of Christianity and stands in contrast of the Muslim acceptance of Death as a natural part of Life. Allah reminds us constantly that this life is temporary. We are told:
Surah At-Takathur
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things), (1) Until ye visit the graves. (2)
But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality). (3)
Again, ye soon shall know! (4) Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (Ye would beware!) (5)
Ye shall certainly see Hell Fire! (6)
Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight! (7)
Then shall ye be Questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in)! (8)

Surah Al-Maarij
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
A questioner questioned concerning the doom about to fall (1)
Upon the disbelievers, which none can repel, (2)
From Allah, Lord of the Ascending Stairways (3)
(Whereby) the angels and the Spirit ascend unto Him in a Day whereof the span is fifty thousand years. (4)
But be patient (O Muhammad) with a patience fair to see. (5)
Lo! they behold it afar off (6) While we behold it nigh: (7)
The day when the sky will become as molten copper, (8)
And the hills become as flakes of wool, (9)
And no familiar friend will ask a question of his friend (10)
Though they will be given sight of them. The guilty man will long to be able to ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children (11)
And his spouse and his brother (12)
And his kin that harboured him (13)
And all that are in the earth, if then it might deliver him. (14)
But nay! for lo! it is the fire of hell (15)
Eager to roast; (16)
It calleth him who turned and fled (from truth), (17)
And hoarded (wealth) and withheld it. (18)
Lo! man was created anxious, (19)
Fretful when evil befalleth him (20)
And, when good befalleth him, grudging; (21)
Save worshippers. (22)
Who are constant at their worship (23)
And in whose wealth there is a right acknowledged (24)
For the beggar and the destitute; (25)
And those who believe in the Day of Judgment, (26)
And those who are fearful of their Lord's doom - (27)
Lo! the doom of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure - (28)
And those who preserve their chastity (29)
Save with their wives and those whom their right hands possess, for thus they are not blameworthy; (30)
But whoso seeketh more than that, those are they who are transgressors; (31)
And those who keep their pledges and their covenant, (32)
And those who stand by their testimony (33)
And those who are attentive at their worship. (34)
These will dwell in Gardens, honoured. (35)
What aileth those who disbelieve, that they keep staring toward thee (O Muhammad), open-eyed, (36)
On the right and on the left, in groups? (37)
Doth every man among them hope to enter the Garden of Delight? (38)
Nay, verily. Lo! We created them from what they know. (39)
But nay! I swear by the Lord of the rising-places and the setting-places of the planets that We are Able (40)
To replace them by (others) better than them. And we are not to be outrun. (41)
So let them chat and play until they meet their Day which they are promised, (42)
The day when they come forth from the graves in haste, as racing to a goal, (43)
With eyes aghast, abasement stupefying them: Such is the Day which they are promised. (44)

Surah Al-Mulk
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things. (1)

Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed.[] And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving; (2)

Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in the creation of the Most Gracious. Then look again: "Can you see any rifts?" (3)

Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out (4)

And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps (as) missiles to drive away the Shayâtin (devils), and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire (5)

And for those who disbelieve in their Lord (Allâh) is the torment of Hell, and worst indeed is that destination (6)

When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth (7)

It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask: "Did no warner come to you?" (8)

They will say: "Yes indeed a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: 'Allâh never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error.'" (9)

And they will say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing Fire!" (10
So they acknowledge their sins; but far removed (from mercy) are the dwellers in the flames. (11)
Lo! those who fear their Lord in secret, theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward. (12)
And keep your opinion secret or proclaim it, lo! He is Knower of all that is in the breasts (of men). (13)
Should He not know what He created? And He is the Subtile, the Aware. (14)
He it is Who hath made the earth subservient unto you, so Walk in the paths thereof and eat of His providence. And unto Him will be the resurrection (of the dead). (15)
Have ye taken security from Him Who is in the heaven that He will not cause the earth to swallow you when lo! it is convulsed? (16)
Or have ye taken security from Him Who is in the heaven that He will not let loose on you a hurricane? But ye shall know the manner of My warning. (17)
And verily those before them denied, then (see) the manner of My wrath (with them)! (18)
Have they not seen the birds above them spreading out their wings and closing them? Naught upholdeth them save the Beneficent. Lo! He is Seer of all things. (19)
Or who is he that will be an army unto you to help you instead of the Beneficent? The disbelievers are in naught but illusion. (20)
Or who is he that will provide for you if He should withhold His providence? Nay, but they are set in pride and frowardness. (21)
Is he who goeth groping on his face more rightly guided, or he who walketh upright on a straight road? (22)
Say (unto them, O Muhammad): He it is who gave you being, and hath assigned unto you ears and eyes and hearts. Small thanks give ye! (23)
Say: He it is Who multiplieth you in the earth, and unto Whom ye will be gathered. (24)
And they say: When (will) this promise (be fulfilled), if ye are truthful? (25)
Say: The knowledge is with Allah only, and I am but a plain warner; (26)
But when they see it nigh, the faces of those who disbelieve will be awry, and it will be said (unto them): This is that for which ye used to call. (27)
Say (O Muhammad): Have ye thought: Whether Allah causeth me (Muhammad) and those with me to perish or hath mercy on us, still, who will protect the disbelievers from a painful doom? (28)
Say: He is the Beneficent. In Him we believe and in Him we put our trust. And ye will soon know who it is that is in error manifest. (29)
Say: Have ye thought: If (all) your water were to disappear into the earth, who then could bring you gushing water? (30)

Great piece Earl. It was after he'd buried that I learned that Mr. Jn. Marie had passed. I offer my condolences to his family. CIS
