A RUINED HOLIDAY SEASON

Do we need a more sophisticated meteorological service, technological equipment, or forecasting model? Lost of property is one thing. But lives lost, in part, because of a lack of an adequate warning system is unfortunate, but certainly avoidable.

predicting the weather for St.Lucia is a difficult task. It happens on a regular basis some parts of the island have rain, other parts sunshine, other cloudy and overcast. ALL AT THE SAME TIME. The same is fact for the rainfall. Some aerea have heavy rain, other no rainfall.
Depending on the location some may say: the forecast was correct or totally wrong. Automatically the people who received a "wrong" forecast will take the next forecast as bla bla and not more serious.
Best to say on a daily basis: partly cloudy with some showers.
To NEMO: if the radar they depending on was out of service why not to look at the wheater channel?

NEMO has a lame excuse of faulty equipment. So many other ways to gather the same information. It's a case NO-MORE cut sitting on their butts.

We must pray as the ancients did when lives are lost to the rages of Nature. Slow moving troughs aka Tomas y Sandy do more damage in a day than decades of faster moving storms.Need no meteo expert to realize that the culprit is rapid WATER accumulation with trickle or no drainage. So mega buildings with their concrete escarpments, hills & mountains laid bare a la Haiti enhance the rapid buildup, whilst free for all disposal of refuge clog all hopes of osmotic drainage- Voila island wide constipation- and whence aqua rapido from le seil, pours forth -as it will -likewise-henceforth, like a tasty Greek yogurt with active probiotics- results in conspicuous die-a-rear.

Some hard predictions for Atlantic rim islands and continental coastlines need to be explained in casual layman's terms-everyday. These premium high density populated areas are the marine front lines-in the stealthy collaboration between rising oceans and our wilding, decadent carbon footprints. Global meltoff has to be redistributed in the form of corpulent rainfall & voluptuous seas. That which gave islands and continental coasts their idyllic allure will soon be ravaged by these exotic game changers.
EXIT?Reruns of the Flinstones are more realistic than the nouveau potential heralded in Star Trek et al. Everyone caan land a toy on the moon but cannot collectively put a boot on Mars or functional Green house laboratory-
WE need ecology 101+ enforcement of rudimentary general hygienic codes- many moons ago.

Finally, this one is for abused & or closeted environmental crusaders. Part of the great silence or pathological displacement is the view that it is a Secular distortion. Many of us derive great comfort or security by oratory that echo the promise made to Noah and his Ark mission. Well, we need to recall that in his own likeness -we were given free will- Oui , the same liberty that got us evicted outta Eden. Our free will has us addicted to fire as in JimiHendrik's" let me stand next to your fire"-that we light up as in let loose more trapped CO2 so that we are quickly approaching the environmental mirror of Venus. Smog or flood-both are driven by our insatiable Fire-Carbon depleting foot print,n'est pas?

This is so sorrowful to hear, but maybe God is trying to tell us something, first the landslides, then this.

The dysfunctions of our mendicancy culture with our mooching parasitical political class and civil service were exposed by this disaster.
So many exposures.

The damage to a Virgin Atlantic multi million dollar plane landing on a compromised runway at Hewanorra. This could have killed paxs and ruined our tourism industry Why? Who were the government personel operating the tower?

Why the communist like cover up by the local liberal media on the damage to the aircraft?

Does the Minister of Tourism think we are fools with his 'we are happy' statements that did not mentions the issues we faced?

Why no more serious warnings on the weather anomaly? Is there any truth that the myopic business class did not want the consumers to stop spending money they did not have?

It will be fun watching the parasitical liberal elite political class spin this disaster.

First they will try to deflect blame for their and the civil servants incompetence on so many fronts including below standard infrastructure.

Second , Kenny and Co will spend the next 2 years blaming all their
stupidity, proven managerial incompetence and ineptitude on this Christmas weather system.

Third. Kenny and co will go cap in hand everywhere to beg for money to cover for their inability to do anything right.

This rain was the perfect excuse for the continuation of Kenny's decade long incompetence and meeting his agenda for power and pay.

Poor Lucia.

If Lucians had any pride then 2014 should be the year for strikes, protests and a calling to account of the liberal mooching political class their crony business class and the liberal acolytes called the media ! The middle class has to arise and throw these bums out and let them all know ' Enough is Enough!'

Really? Are these solutions? So, we go on to remove one set of incompetents by further disrupting the very fragile 'return to work', so to speak, and send in more political clowning acts like our Guy Josephs? T-way boudain maytay pie?

We see the propaganda happening already. Government/ SLP Press releases, crocodile tears, pr opportunities but no management no explanations as if nothing went wrong.
The next step is to throw money at the issues making sure the political hacks get the most of it.
Nothing will change or get better. More unemployment and tears .

To date, NO ... exactly NO existing political party has been able to show that it really understands our economic model, and far less to provide a convincing policy initiatives to address our economic problems. No party.

We are just having a comedy of errors enacted by serially recycled political nincompoops of ALL shades and colours. Show me the one that is different in that blasted lot of idiots. Show me! Show me!

"By serially recycled political nincompoops of all shades and colours" LOL! So true, so true !

Everything about this government is a farce.
Even the pm's address has a 'theme' we mourn together.
Typically cynical, useless and playing to emotions. That is how this government has uselessly operated over 11 years. Governance based on fear, envy, pie in the sky promises, hatred, greed, self serving political agendas and a complete disregard for performance.
Just like the communists it is all a cardboard village devoid of substance.

I cry when I see the state that St Lucians live in after of er 30 years of Independence. The squalid housing of Anse La Raye. The poor Third World conditions with a people looking bedragled and worn out by life. Even the elites look battered and hard.
This is the mendicancy world after a decade of the SLP in power.

Preferential market prices for the 'green gold' masked all the flaws. The WTO had other plans.

Those inflated prices removed, Compton baled out. He had no clue just as when he was re-elected from so-called retirement to fix the economy. In fact, he returned to the same old failed policy. He sold Saint Lucians hope.

Hope is not a strategy.

So, he then handed over the basket into the lap of Vaughn Lewis like a hot potato, to fetch water.

Then he strode in to open a Pandora's Box of other reprobates, miscreants, criminals, liars, cheats and failed officers of failed airline companies,th to do the Ali Baba Arabian Knights Tuxedo Affair thing on Saint Lucians through the UWP Cabinet.

(like using table,bedframes,
shelfs, all different items to make a temporary rack)

Good question!
After 9 years of utter incompetence and $1,500,000,000 of debt then Rochamel and NCA Fiasco and Grynsburg and hundreds of millions in cost overruns and 25% of our people below the poverty line - you still voted kenny back into power to lord it over you all once again. And this time he ain't making joke!

Are we serious?

After 3 years of worthless leadership you all still have king as Leader of the Opposition.

After the damaging nonsense between 2008- 2011 you now have chastanet as Leader of the UWP.

Are you serious?

I don't think so!

And you have worked hard to get the real problems to come in 2014.
2012 and 13 will be seen as easy compared to 2014 and 15.

So do I. How will this country make any positive headway with a secular trend of voters not able to go beyond voting for "... serially recycled political nincompoops of all shades and colours."

Hey! Does your PM have credentials in Economics? Is that why we had Frenwell, Black Bay, and the Grynberg sea-bed Agreement?

Does that explain the inexplicable egregious blunders, the recurring factor being, exchanges of something for nothing, in each god damn frigging case? Saint Lucia now ranked below St. Kitts & Nevis? Big head. Big mouth. But no god damn commonsense?

I was just there on this beautiful Island from 10/12 thru 10/26/13 and planned on returning at the end of March 2014 to celebrate my birthday with some wonderful family members. Sadly I will have to put off my trip until Christmas 2014 in hopes that all will be well then. Looking forward to returning again and again.

This a solemn moment in our island's history and I use this forum to let my people know that I share their grief. Often times I ask : Where is the love?
