This writer obviously likes playing with words. I wish he would take time to check out their meanings out before so recklessly commiting them to paper. He is also as reckless with the facts as he is with words. Mr Mondesir has an obvious bias towards the present administration. He claims that crime and jobs are our main issues. He does not take the time to show how these honorable men whom he is trying to promote have impacted positively relative to these two issues. I am particularly interested in hearing what new initiative has been implimented by this administration on the vexing problem of violent crime that is claiming the lives of so many of our young people in the country. This party as far as I am concerned came into power with a pledge to dealing with the crime problem. So far they have failed miserably. There is a climate of fear in the country and the criminal control our streets. Contrary to Mr Mondesir's claim that there is "nothing political" about the issues of jobs and crime, these are certainly two areas in which we have every right to expect our government to assist us.
LLL writes: I'm sorry Mr. Mondesir, you have been short-sighted and bias. There is no doubt you speak of your party (The UWP) and try to inject the Honourable Dr. Robert Lewis in the mix. That's poor strategy, we can see right through your prejudice. Your article would have been more impressive if you were sincere. You conveniently left out Dr. Kenny Anthony, Philip J. Pierre, etc., etc. I would like to leave you with two interesting phrases: - A leader's hardest task is not to do what is right, but to know what is right. - The first method for estimating the intelligence of a leader is to look at the men he has around him. Chew on that for a minute; then think about one more: "A leader is a healer of HOPE"
Mondesir can't be telling the truth. Who in their right minds would include Keith Mondesir of the same last name as being "honourable" and having the right vision for St Lucia moving forward?
Opposition parties aren't there to do the bidding of the government of the day. It is there to guide government and point out their flaws. Lion/Mondesir has his own agenda which is either to make his father, uncle, brother, and relative look good. This won't fly. No body is going make St Lucians believe that it is a crime or negative to oppose the UWP government.
Crime yes, we need to get together. Jobs no, we all need to press this government to address the unemployment in our country or get out!
I think it's unfair concerning what the world has just gone through and perhaps we should give them at least 9 years like we did to the SLP. The unemployment problem is global and I'm talking firsthand.
Where do these writers crawl out of - amateur spin centre? For one, the piece is not even very interesting. Such a lame attempt to seem unbiased by mentioning Drs. R. Lewis and S. King. Did I read someone begging that just because SLP got nine years last time around we should give the UWP the same? Last time I checked the term was 5 years and the voters decide, else we might as well make the term 9 yrs long to suit the "smart thinking" of some. I'm actually of the opinion that our term should be even shorter, 4 years. In NZ and Australia the term is 3 yrs, though that I believe is a bit too short. Either way, there's no way Mr. King can have another term by me.
