What a sorry day for St. Lucia.
More of the same party hacks agitating withoit a bone of patriotism.

How easily they forget 0-0-1%.

the government could very easily lay off some bureaucrats without loss of service to the public. I would start at the top where they are paid the most money. That way, fewer people would have to be laid off.

Its a sorry day because we have an inept government who AGREED to a given increase when the financial situation was well known? For goodness sake, we had a 0.5% growth rate in 2007! Yet, you go ahead and agree to 14.5% - CRAZY! I've done some calculations using the government C-tax rates on gas and diesel and based on 2007 consumption, between April 2008 and Feb 2009, government should made over $34 million due to the high gas rates. But that's the problem isn't it, we all have to be guessing and working out what the real situation is. Patriotism? Isn't it patriotic for government to inform the population of the real state of affairs in-house? Saint Lucians do need to be patriotic and deal with ineptitude in government!
