house husbands used twice in this piece...is this a newly coined phrase or was the reporter tying to make an implicit point. I ma not sure but I found it a tad bit awkward and out of place...just my opinion.

Long overdue.

what is needed now is a meat grading capacity to identify the quality of the meat. I once bought some local beef at the supermarket and my wife and I took turns chewing on it for several weeks. We eventually offered it for sale to the cricket association for use in their games, but they said it had too much bounce compared to the manufactured balls. When one of the shock absorbers broke on our truck, I jammed the gristle between the springs and we've been riding smooth ever since. Some St. Lucians are like tribesmen in Africa. They think that owning cows is a symbol of wealth and status, so they keep them until they are almost dead, then they butcher them and sell the meat. In countries where there is a real meat market, the steers are butchered when they are about 2 years old.

Notwithstanding the "vieux vaches" proffered by the last commentators, which are perhaps quite true, I do hope this facility is also developed effectively alongside a sensible and ecologically sensitive livestock programme. I would suggest concentrating on developing niche markets for meats that are not very readily available in the Caribbean but which may fetch good profits: e.g. rabbit, duck, shrimp.

I don't agree with the location because as far as I see it the Beausejour area will eventually have to be converted into land for the urban expansion of Vieux Fort. Another good site in Vieux Fort would have been near Georgie Pt.

Anyways, holding my breath because the sod-turning ceremony came and went on the Psychiatric Hospital and we're all just waiting.
